NO ONE is the king of ALL music, but Elvis is the King of Rock & Roll, Michael is the King of Pop. Both are masters of their craft, but they both had their demons too!

Two different Elvises. First one is from his last concert tour, June 1977. A sick, heavily medicated Elvis, doing his best to get through «Unchained Melody». The contrast to his version of «All shook up» from 1968 is incredible. Only nine short years separates those two performances. Gone at 42, forever missed.

Next to Elvis MJ is virtually insignificant. First of all, Elvis tackled many genres of music, and did them well. MJ was limited in that regard. MJ didn't do any nearly operatic music. He would not have been capable of it. How about Country music, or Gospel? Secondly, right out of the gate with virtually no experience in the business Elvis smashed it (at least in the South) with his first single. MJ had years to hone his craft with his brothers before he attempted to go it as a single artist. Michael has been gone for 13 years. Do you really think 45 years after his death he will be as popular as Elvis is now? Elvis was the maestro of music.

Elvis not just changed music.. He changed the world. How many of us can say this? He was as genuine as he was generous. I remember watching his early films when I was a kid in the 1970's. I was saddened when he passed away. He let himself get consumed by those prescription medications and he abused it in his latter years. Nonetheless, he left us as a legend and his legacy will continue far past my lifetime. To me, he was in some way... a king. Hope y'alls feel that.

Coming from an Elvis loving family, if I didn’t like Elvis I’d probably got kicked outta the family 😂. Now Elvis vs MJ, that’s a whole nother rabbit hole I wouldn’t go down. But really it’s apples to oranges, two different things. Biz, if you only listen to one other Elvis song, make it the studio version of “Kentucky rain”. You like story telling and this one is awesome.

RECOMMENDATION: How about IF I CAN DREAM. His Personal MLK TRIBUTE. NBC TV during the race riots. NBC execs/advertisers didnt want Elvis singing any song that could stoke tensions even higher, but Elvis wanted to speak to the nation after all the assassinations and deteriorating situations with race, poverty and war .... Elvis went against he execs and advertisers demands and went all in for one of his friends that he loved Dr Martin Luther King. This song was also for Robert Kennedy who was also assassinated, but as soon as you hear the words this was about MLK a man shot dead in Memphis just a few miles from Elvis' home Graceland. Elvis cried during the funeral, and broke down after singing this song. His band was in tears DURING this performance. Power like no other maybe the greatest social justice song ever in fact.... Elvis Presley. He played an active role in the Civil Rights Movement. He insisted his musicians of color got the same treatment as him when he toured and almost came to blows in several locations. Death threats and guns were always around. He was a MAN. And he did that thang for others, always. IF I CAN DREAM kzbin.info/www/bejne/q17TgZKaeMqhgKM

Elvis!!!! But nah fam … people think Elvis is the King of Rock …. Michael is the King of Pop 🤷♀️ That’s what I’ve always thought they believed 🤷♀️ I just love watching and listening to it all 😉 I know what your saying though … some people take that ish waaaay too serious, like they family or something!!! 😳🤣🤣 And they had to tell people that “Elvis has left the building” so people would leave!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Them girls was mesmerized!!!! But that’s where that saying came from. Also, he would always say “thank you, thank you very much” … I don’t know if you’ve ever heard anyone say that, maybe just me 🤷♀️ but if you have then that’s where that started too … but you have to say it and kinda curl your top lip, nod your head and throw in a little southern twang when you say it 😜🤣 It’s really sad to see him looking so bad, but he still had that Elvis charisma!! Thanks fam!!! Love ya 💞 💯KBiz 💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥

I like Elvis a lot but Elvis hated THE KING tag ,it was media hype to increase media money ..He did hold the record for the most sales for a long time but that does not make him a king ..

This whole argument about who's the "KING OF MUSIC" gets old. Music is totally subjective, so it's not even an argument. I'm lucky, I was born in 1970 and was an Elvis fan when I saw the concert where Unchained Melody was from on TV in 1977. When MJ blew up, that kind of took over for awhile, along with Prince, and then Hip Hop blew up and I was into that hardcore. In the end, it came back to Elvis as my personal favorite of all time, and EVERYONE had their own musical journey thats special to them! Peace to ALL music lovers of all kinds!

There really is no comparison between Michael Jackson and Elvis. Elvis' voice was richer and more powerful and his range, singing high and low, was incredible. Michael's voice was so high it was almost a falsetto. Very one-dimensional. Michael moved well on stage and admitted that he was influenced by Elvis in that way.
@kevinr84312 жыл бұрын
I started to respect your opinion on not referring to Elvis as the "king of music" but then you called MJ the "king of music". Then I have to ask, what is your criteria?
