@@lechat8533in my opinion Elvis is often regarded as an amazing storytelling person because of his ability to convey emotion and narrative through his music. His songs often told vivid stories of love, heartache, and life experiences, resonating with audiences on a deeply emotional level. Additionally, his charismatic stage presence and captivating performances added another layer to his storytelling, making him a legendary figure in music history.

Adrian York, University of Westminster Elvis’ musical career can be divided into four eras: the early years in the 1950s singing rock’n'roll, country and gospel; the transition to pop in 1960; the renaissance years surrounding the 1968 TV Comeback Special and the still glorious melancholy of his final work in the late 1970s. But what was it about his voice that spoke so directly to so many people across this time span? Cathryn Robson, a senior lecturer in voice and music performance at the University of Westminster, said: Elvis was technically fearless and instinctive in his use of technique. In his early material in particular it is as if his voice is finding and creating the lyrics as he is singing them. To really understand Elvis’ sound we have to go back to the recordings. One of the hallmarks of Elvis’ vocal approach is a combination of his large range with the unusual ability to move seamlessly between his tenor and baritone voices. Combined with his range, he has great control over the placement of the voice in the different resonant centres such as the chest, head and the pharynx at the back of the mouth which affects the vocal tone. The rock’n'roll classic Jailhouse Rock from 1957 features a distorted high tenor vocal combined with sloppy lyrical articulation in an explosive performance. The contrast with the pure, clean tone of Elvis’ 1960 rendition of the gospel classic Milky White Way with its great blend of resonance between the chest and head voices is clearly apparent. In Can’t Help Falling in Love from 1961, Elvis explores the richness of his baritone range moving to a gorgeous light baritone in the bridge of the song. Guitar Man from 1967 - the track that gave the first hint of his mid-60s “comeback” - features a “speak-singing” approach described by Robson as a singer’s “technical holy grail”. The 1972 song Burning Love, Elvis’s final hit in his lifetime, features another sound altogether - a tight forceful vocal tone with the voice bursting out of his pharynx over a driving rock track.

Elvis hated being called King, he didn't choose it the media did, and he always said "Jesus is the King". He never bragged he just took everything as it came. He just loved to sing. He never trashed people in public, he might not have liked people but in an interview in New York he said, he would never criticize another performer, that there was room for everybody in the business. great job Seph.

Some of y'all need to stop continuously confusing yourselves with the context of what Elvis stated. Him being called "The King" the world over has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ and everything to do with his mastery of all musical genres and his vocal abilities. Not the same thing by any means. Edit: When Elvis made that statement, he was expressing his shy and humble nature....the adoration and adulation was a bit overwhelming.

@@user-gz5xt1lj4t it's not rocket science, my friend....and I'm writing in English. Undermining what the term "The King" means in relation to Elvis is ignorant. Elvis is the King of Music..... nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with replacing Jesus Christ as the religious Lord.

@@Elvista What is your age and education.? It is obvious that you do not wish to tie Elvis with God in any form. It is obvious it bothers you. Sorry you don't believe in God and His influence on the man Elvis was when Elvis first desire was to be a gospel singer but was turned down 3 times trying to get into a group. Denying God is an awful thing to live with, but if God chose Elvis, who has sold more gospel music than any single artist in the world you need to Research is more so you won't look foolish, calling people ignorant is dangerous, especially when you think you know everything.

Hope you are feeling better Seph 🙏 Healing thoughts to you 💜 Okay so: Yes, the soaring soprano is Millie Kirkham. The two ladies you hear backing her with softer vocals are sisters Mary & Ginger Holladay. And yes, right again, the gents backing Elvis on this one are The Imperials- Jimmie Murray, Terry Blackwood, Greg Gordon, & Joe Moscheo. As for the songwriter: Buffy Sainte- Marie. I will state this now: Documentation has since proven her claims to be of Canadian- Indigenous descent are false. She was born in Stoneham, Massachussettes to a father of Italian descent and a mother majorly of English descent. She has two siblings (a brother that has since died in May 2011) and a sister that have both been trying to get the truth out there. Well now it's out there. Buffy Sainte- Marie's real name: Beverly Jean Santamaria born to Albert & Winifred Santamaria on February 20, 1941. Her claims of being adopted by a "White" family are also false. Her real birth certificate have since surfaced in a CBC News report as a result of a Canadian- Indigenous reporter's investigations. I'm always conflicted personally about revealing more controversial stuff that comes up in my research. I want to focus on the positive not the negative. However the truth is also important to me. Anyone who is interested in the info are more than welcome to do their own internet research. I found the original CBS News article quite easily. It is also noted on her Wikipedia bio page. This waltz is really lovely and haunting, especially those chorus vocals. (2:48) I love that low piano note just before the first verse vocals. (0:21) And that banjo, lead guitar, and ghostly female vocal that's added to the second verse. (3:46) The instrumentation, backing vocals, and production are all so lush. That's a tremolo effect on the guitar that you highlight in the intro. (0:08) It's a favorite of mine as well. And you're right, it was very reminiscent of the time, but still can be heard today. The Smiths used it to especially good effect on their 1984 classic, "How Soon Is Now?" The lyrical message that another has made one a better person is a powerful one that particularly resonates with me, and has been my experience with respect to you and your channel. Comparing Elvis' voice to finger-licking good melted ice cream on a hot summer's day made me smile and chuckle. (9:35)

So I busted out some earbuds to give the song a closer listen. And what I thought was banjo actually sounds more like piano and guitar playing in unison. I also searched KZbin music for this song and was amazed at the number of artists who have covered it. It really is staggering. More than I could reasonably listen to. Great to have you back on the Elvis train and that you feel better. This song is too slow and boring for my taste D-. Great reaction.👍

The song was written by the fake Indian --Buffy St. Marie. It's a blah song that makes me think of lounge singers doing it. Elvis has done far better songs.

@@jjbud3124 I can agree with that. It's just even with Elvis singing it -- it is simply blah. He has much, better material than this particular item.

Never cared for this song. Of course Elvis reached his vocal peak (especially for ballads) in the early 60's. This is at a point in Elvis' career when it was difficult for him to sing higher. I like the live versions of this song slightly better. It's ok. Bottom 150 out of his 700+.
