When I hear Elvis, I hear a Soul.. People can sing with Feeling, power and ego.. When Elvis does some of these type songs, I feel my own Soul a bit. I feel closer to God.. He gave all his money away as quick as he earned it.. It drove his financial guy who did his taxes each year crazy that Elvis would never take a write off for his donations. Elvis was a special human being.. Influenced by Black Blues, White Country, and both Black and White Gospel music.. Grew up poor as poor can be. . His Mom working for 25 cents an hour as a seamstress in the garment district during his childhood.. I wish we all could be a little more like Elvis.. Thanks for sharing this Mountain with us..

When Elvis sang he sang from the souls of his feet up his body and what came out of his mouth was strength power emotion passion belief and sincerity. He was a superstar....just his first name was enough....but despite his success he was just a humble polite country boy at heart....always said Sir or Ma'am....never refused an autograph or a picture....brought lemonade down to the fans waiting at the gates of Graceland....if u were in a car dealership when Elvis was buying 1 or 5....u would probably be a lucky recipient.....he gave thousands of $ worth of jewellery away at concerts...at that concert he threw the belt and the Cape into the audience......Elvis treated everyone the same whether u were a fellow artist or a janitor.....Elvis never realised how much he was truly loved not only as a performer but also as a man....he was the blueprint for everything that came after....the good and the not so good....TCB for EAP

I grew up in the 50's and was dumb-struck the first time that I saw Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show. It took some time but I eventually came to appreciate him and his slower ballads. No one could touch him when it came to singing the hymns that he so dearly loved. There was a lot of trash written and spoken about him after his death and it was such a shame. He had a talent that was so unique to him, and we all need to let him rest in peace and be grateful that we were all enriched by his god given instrument/voice. Thank you for your intelligent and heartfelt reaction. I really enjoyed that.....Darlene

You truly brought me tears with your powerful words. May we all strive to be kinder human beings to others. No one knows what someone else's mountain is. I wonder what Elvis would think if he knew his music, the kindness of his heart and his enormous generosity would still be bringing people together after 42 years. What a beautiful legacy he left. I know my life has greatly been enriched since I discovered him. He brought me to your channel and your words of wisdom. Thank you!

Tresha Nations Ford, Elvis went through hell and back on earth. He received the most ugliness one man could ever endure. Yet by the grace of God, he pushed through to the end. A great adventure awaits you my pure hearted friend. When you get past all the minutia of hate for this man, you will see a true angel. I’m 76 yrs old now, have two daughters and two grandchildren. I grew up on Elvis I admired and loved him then and I still do. I was also dirt poor, so I always felt a kindred spirit about him. He was the one and only in the entertainment business that made me feel like there was hope for mankind. Racism is taught. No politics from me. It’s about a pure soul that God had on loan to us. He loved all people and especially his momma. Please do yourself a favor and look into his background. You will have a good cry like I do to this day. They still have Elvis Fan clubs if your interested. Good luck and God bless to you and your family.

Rock solid performance of a Marty Robbins classic. The best thing about most of Elvis' powerhouse set pieces is they don't sound dated...whether it's Mountain, My Way, Loving Feeling, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Trilogy, What Now My Love, or How Great Thou Art...they have strong arrangements that usually feature a tempo change and blending of rhythm section/orchestra/vocals that command attention and showcase what was probably the most talented and diverse backing group ever assembled. Perfect example of Elvis at the peak of his creativity and why he is the only artist in four music hall of fames.

Thank you for your kind words of insight and wisdom each of us need to hear..Elvis friend Joe Esposito said in an interview that Elvis loved his fans and was happiest performing for them. His friend Jerry Schilling tells the story of Elvis and him on a plane together during a Christmas holiday and Elvis noticed a soldier sitting alone. So he went over to him and talked with him.Elvis went back to his seat and told Jerry to give him all the cash Elvis brought for the trip.Jerry said "but thats all the money you have with us and we won't have money until someone can wire us more ".Elvis said he didn't care ..he wanted the solider and his family to have a nice Christmas. So he gave the soldier all his money...just a small example. ..of his kindness. ..there are many more stories of not only generosity but kindness and requesting that no one be told of the deeds he did...

You make me smile every time you do a reaction to Elvis. Living in Memphis not far from Graceland, on the other side of the tracks you might say, you always knew when Elvis was home. If the gates to Graceland were open, you could drive in and drive up to the front door. He had a big circular driveway. (House and land is not really that big.) If the gates were closed, Elvis was home. I was to young then to really appreciate Elvis or his music but was always hearing stories of his kindness. Some were little things and others were sort of shocking. Then on a more personal side, his act of kindness involved my older sister, another involved a girl in my church and one was me from his dad Vernon. Never ever heard a negative story about him. It's years and years since I lived in Memphis, but when I do go back, I drive by Graceland, but now it has become very commercial. Same gates, but you pay to go through.

17,000 sq.ft of living space on over 13 acres. My visit to Graceland still had Uncle Vester at the gate working in the security building. Got his autograph. His was wearing his official uniform. Very cool moment. This was before the house was open to tour - 1982? All we could do is walk the property and see his resting place. Went back years later to go in the house/plane. Yes, very commercialized. It must have been cool to live in Memphis at that time. Now we have BLM vandalism on the wall. If people only knew what he did for charities. He was very generous.

No one who is born into this world completes it without sins, flaws and imperfections. Yet this imperfect man was never a bully to those who worked with him. Watch him sing and you see a naked joy for life through his songs. He lived to entertain and he did so and did it better than anyone else. Yes he got hooked on prescription drugs. Yes, he enjoyed more than his share of beautiful women. He spent millions on charity and worked hard to raise money for others. No doubt in my mind where he is. He’s directing a choir for our Lord.

Elvis made it to where I was ,in April 77 I just don't know, how I could have survived this world without him as my counselor . companion . When I made it to Memphis and walked where he walked Wow I wrote on the Graceland wall The Mountain came to me . I'm here. Forever Loved. Elvis is the Mountain. For some there is God for faith and Elvis for leaning. To have to be me and be on this planet and never see elvis or have an Elvis. My God's mercy knew that would be to much. .

Right on Brother. We never know the pain of others. So a smile at someone won't kill us, but could even change someone's life. I would imagine it was hard for Elvis to trust people with his feelings, because he never knew how they would try to hurt him more, out of jealousy or just trying to make a name for themselves. So I believe he turned to God often and expressed his emotions through his music. And wow, he sure could do that. And he sure had a variety of emotions by being, in my opinion the most versatile entertainer ever. To go from Jailhouse Rock and All Shook up to what you just blessed us with in this song and others like it. Anyone I have ever heard in the industry ever talk about him, whether Mohammed Ali, James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr, Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra and so many others all said he was the kindness, most generous and respectful man they knew. Like you say, I also say to people, do your research. It's not wrong to be ignorant, but it is very wrong to stay ignorant. Thank you man for your insight.

I remember that one Thanksgiving Day, mom and I went to a restaurant since it was just the two of us as my brother was already married and grandma died. It was pretty crowded but I made eye contact with the woman sitting at the opposite table, smiled at her, and said a few friendly words to her. A few minutes later she left with her friend. Anyway, when mom and I finished dinner, we were patiently waiting for the check and waiting but not saying a word due to it being busy. Finally, when there was a break, I politely asked our waitress, Jennifer, for the check. She looked at us surprised and said, "Didn't you know that the ladies that were sitting opposite you paid for your dinner?" We, in turn, expressed our shock and said no since we didn't even know them. On our way home, in disbelief and still in shock I wondered WHY they paid. NEVER had a stranger done so before! When I called a friend to share my puzzlement she simply replied that maybe my friendliness and smile was what that woman needed that day. Then, it made perfect sense. As you've mentioned, sometimes little things that seem unimportant to one means a great deal to another. Afterwards, It made my heart happy to know that I made a small difference in someone's life for that split second😄.

So you’ve heard he did not like to be called “the king“. Did you know that some people held up a sign at one of his concerts that read “Elvis is king!“ He saw the sign and commented from the stage that “only Jesus is King“. So many performers who are adored by their fans believe in their own greatness. Elvis wasn’t one of them.

I've heard it said that he suffered through severe headaches through this entire performance. You'll notice that he repeatedly closes his eyes. He suffered from glaucoma and had difficulty with bright lights in his later years on stage. This was one of the reasons he was always wearing sunglasses. The GOAT. His music lives on.

You do one hell of a job. Elvis did it “as long has he could” because we all know he loved his fans who got him there. You indicated what kind of pressure he was under and that is worth exploring. Think about some of these: 1. Sings a new kind of music in the 50s and is crucified by the older generation. Devil’s music. 2. Drafted in the army for 2 years at the top of his rise to fame. 3. Has a manager who basically cares only about the $ and not the craft. 4. Gets stuck in a long movie contact because of poor management for 8 years. 5. Has to withstand the British Invasion and all the many acts that followed him. 6. Has to make a comeback which should never had to be and proves again how great he was. 7. Tours from 1969 to his death in 1977 doing way to many shows and several on the same day. I could go on but this is a few. The point is there are levels of fame and I think in his case it was beyond normal. I saw a video the other day about him staying in a hotel secretly and the word got out. There were people as far as the eye can see surrounding the hotel. This was why he lived at night and slept during the day which is not healthy. And even with all this he left us more than all the nay sayers will ever contribute to mankind. That is actually a gift to all of us and one I appreciate every time I listen to him. Keep up the truthful work, it is much enjoyed!

Been an Elvis fan since I was a little girl. Love seeing people...especially younger generations....discover the gift to the world that was Elvis. This commentary made me a subscriber. Keep up the good words to a world in need. Very few things that are addictive are good....except Elvis...listen to him every day. And to really appreciate the man's color blindness...you must remember the era ....1950's to 1970's. And his acts of kindness and charity were not for publicity or tax write offs. They came from his heart. Wish those closest to him could have found a way to give back & support him with pure hearts. RIP Elvis....beautiful man, beautiful soul. Spot on and well said!!! I so admired and respected Elvis, his kindness to everyone-he was doing the kindness thing before it ever was a campaign thing that it is now. I will always have a deep respect for Elvis and will always admire him for the beautiful, kind person he was. I hope he has found his happiness in heaven with his parents. Bless you for your beautifully said words, your grace and dignity on Elvis.

Elvis was climbing that mountain of emotional pain a sin. He had enough a said God I have no need for all this anymore. Elvis use to say I'm no king Jesus Christ is the only king of Kings. I'm just a simple country man ,,,,,, Elvis Presley never forgot where he came from or who he really was Elvis Presley life was full but unfilled he needed unconditional love a understanding a guidness he knew only God could give him. Elvis presley in my personal opinion was a wonderful a genious human being there were alot of men jelious of him.

Love the eloquent reaction. I thank you so much. As a southern woman from Elvis’s home state of Tennessee I remember as well what a sweet , kind, generous and shy gentleman he was. God Bless

Good morning ! Haven't even had a cup of coffee yet, but I had to watch this first... totally love your reactions to Elvis. Kindness seems to be a commodity we are short of lately but there are still so many good and kind people out there, unfortunately the assholes are always front and center getting all the attention...♡

Very well said, very true and very well said. How many of us could walk in or fill Elvis' shoes, none of us, nor are we qualified to judge him --- but we can appreciate him for his talent and the timeless performances he gave the world.

Right on brother! We all have our demons. I saw Elvis live in 1974. I was young but I knew he was special. This concert was beamed around the world to 1.2 BILLION people. Who could pull that off other than Elvis? He worried people would forget him. He was on this earth 42 years & left this earth 43 years ago. I cannot imagine forgetting him. I saved my concert ticket stub.

Elvis had it all man, the looks, the voice, the charisma, the stage presence but he was a tortured soul, you can see it in his performances, maybe that's why he sings with such passion, pain and feeling, I don't think we'll ever see anyone like him again. The GOAT
