I agree that Elvis had a way of singing that made it seem so personal. BB King said something like Elvis had a way of singing that made it sound like he meant it. And that's so true. I've listened to Elvis for a very, very long time and I still remember sitting by the record player in my room with headphones on and, with my eyes closed, believing he was singing right to me. He's the only one who affected me that way.

ELVIS had a remarkable ability to convey deep emotions through HIS voice, which often made listeners feel a personal connection to HIS song..HIS expressive singing style and the raw emotion HE brought to HIS performances made it easy for people that HE was singing about HIS own experiences , even if the songs weren t about HIS life...This song was written in 1969 by Bobby Russel...When ELVIS sang that song , HE was still married to Priscilla, .This song may resonated with Bobby Russel s life, but not ELVIS s life., however He probably taught it was a beautiful song, and wanted to record it.... Very very nice reaction. Have you heard Spanish Eyes by Elvis? There's the original studio recording and live recording both from 1974, there's also a quite unusual home recording from 1973. Check it out it will blow your mind.

I look forward to watching your 'Elvis Sunday' reaction videos every week. A beautiful song, beautifully sang in the way that only Elvis could. Listening to this one always takes me back to the second time I was at a Candlelight Vigil Ceremony at Graceland. As you are queueing and waiting for your turn to go up to the Meditation Garden and pay your respects at Elvis' grave, they play Elvis songs all through the night; which, as you can imagine, really helps you to get through the long hours spent in the queue. It had got dark by the time this song was played and as Elvis' voice came out of the darkness singing 'Do you know who I am?' the whole crowd made up of tens of thousands of Elvis fans cheered!! Such a great memory 😀 Although, as I believe, the lyrics are talking about a lost love, it just seemed so appropriate to the occasion. There's the first verse, which goes: "Do you know who I am? Have you have any idea who I am? Yes, it's been quite a while And it's so good to see you again". Then the next line starts with: "It's so dark in this place …", which it was by then. There's also the line which goes: "But do you know who I am Or have you forgot about me?". No, Elvis, we haven't and we never will ❤❤

One of my favourites at the moment. So many gems out there... Yes, you need to hear it a few times to get a picture in your mind of what is happening. I think his Gospel roots enabled him to get so much passion/feeling into his voice. Another beautiful song is Almost. Short but sweet.

Never heard this song before. Most Elvis songs were about love and heartbreak. It is interesting to speculate if he was singing to someone in particular expressing these beautiful feelings. Oh if we could only ask him 😢❤

Hi, great that my request has got such a great reaction from you. This is my absolute favourite Elvis song….and for someone who’s been a fan for 57 years eeek! That is saying something. It’s a beautiful song. Elvis has run into an old love and he is asking does he still stand a chance with her. The guy she’s with is just a friend so the song ends with him hopeful that he still stands a chance.

Hi Nick, great review again thank you, for me the song tells the tale of him meeting an old girlfriend in a night club (it's so dark in this place that I can't see your face, may we leave?) but she's tell him that she's there with another man but this other man is only a friend so he asks if sometime in the future they could get back together again and yes you're right it's an immaculate rendition of a beautiful song.

My dear, dear Nick, Do You Know Who I Am pleads to a woman that she remember that time when she loved him. He mentions another man while asking her does he know what we were to one another. He acknowledges her need to be away from him so that she can be free while asking her do we still have a chance. Finally, he says maybe when your hearts in a different place. While listening and analyzing, it crossed my mind that he and Priscilla had been married for a year in 1969. She had just given birth to Lisa and in her book tells about an affair that she had with her dance instructor. Things had to be pretty rocky at that time but Elvis tells us that his music rarely reflects what is actually happening in his life. Had he not said that, I might have thought he was asking Priscilla which me do you not love anymore; me, the superstar or me, Elvis. I believe that there are some songs that Elvis sang, not so much from his heart, but to it. This might be one of them. So happy to see your wonderful face every Sunday Nick!❤️
