Elvis took us to the church in this song. There are so many Elvis' recordings underrated, this is one of them. I can't understand why it wasn't released as a single back then. Thanks for sharing.

The moment he started my eyes filled with tears. He sang his ballads with so much feeling ....personally..I believe he was a songs best friend. Oh to have been there...I would be speechless ...my tears would have said it all.Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful and heartfelt song. Elvis at the piano...pure...sweet vocals. Magic.❤

Wonderful song. He sings any genre, any song & it doesn’t matter. He’s so great at whatever he sing. ❤❤❤❤. His friends said he was like a lark. He loved singing around the house. He’d sit down at the piano and just sing Gospel or anything he wanted. The night before he passed he sang two songs. Unchained Melody & Blue Eyes crying in the Rain. Both beautiful songs. His last two songs he ever sang. He was so special. I love his singing when he’s at the forefront. It really shows how beautiful his voice was here all by itself with the piano. ❤❤

I’m one one the people who suggested this. I’m so glad it landed :) I imagine myself in a different part of the house as Elvis (Obviously we are happily married) And he starts playing this. My ears perk up, and I follow the music. But I don’t disturb him, I just linger outside the room and listen. Ok, admittedly it’s one of my least exciting fantasies about Elvis. But still.

I had never heard this song before and it brought tears to my eyes. He makes it so heartfelt and realizing what was going on with his marriage made it even more so. Performance wise, it made me reflect that he didn’t need the huge band and backup singers, just his own voice and some notes on the piano.

I'm going to try w-out links. This still footage here is from Elvis in the studio July 1970 @ MGM studios in LA. after rehearsals when most everyone left the studio & he's singing "How The Web Was Woven." I don't know if he actually sang "It's Still Here" at the piano that night also. What's recognizable for him being in the studio at that time period is his shirt; the other shirt he wore during rehearsals is the black & white print. There are tons of songs that are still, for the most part, unheard by the majority of people. The voice absolutely outstanding! Thx again for a good start to Sunday!

Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. When you mentioned that you feel you are the only person in that room, that sentiment has been echoed by countless people, fans and non-fans alike. It is that unique ability of communicating emotion through the song which captivates. You are also right that just the voice casually singing a song when he doesnt know he is being recorded is so spectacular. Elvis did have a majestic presence but even without the good looks, the stage presence, the showmanship, the excellent backing band/ backing singers- the voice is what ultimately captures our souls. All the bruhaha about the icon washes away.

How hauntingly beautiful. WOW!! Thanks for doing this one. I love your reaction to this song; you seem quite mesmerized by that performance. A very true reaction. There is such humility in his singing of this song. When he does the really low notes, they are goosebump moments. The range he had was staggering. I love the footage of a rehearsal for Bridge Over Troubled Water. He is directing when he wants certain instruments to come in and which part of the notes to hit. He gets frustrated with his band, you can see it in the way he rubs his hand over his head, but not once is there a nasty word spoken or raised voice. At the end of the song, you can see that he has done something special with that rendition. Such talent and skill to sing, direct, construct the songs to get the very best out of them. This was gold, thanks Nick.

---------------- Excellent Excellent vocals. However, the songwriting isn't my speed. if ANYONE else had covered this, I would not even listen to it, but he had a gift to make songs palatable, that I'd normally ignore. going into the mid 1970s songs like this would become the norm (a blue phase for elvis), but always with a few hot gems (promised land, Hurt, Way down, moody blue etc)

Love the anticipation 👌💕oh Elvis. He sings so sincerely from his heart. He never really got over Pricilla leaving him. Even the subsequent girlfriends had her looks IMO. She is currently here in Britain touring with his records made with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to sold out venues and people loving the atmosphere and seeing him up on a big screen as if he’s in the building!! Saw her iin Hyde Park at his 75th Birthday celebrations and in 2017 at the O2 with the live orchestra. Her words that Elvis would be so humble and proud that people still loved him made us all cry. He never believed he had done anything memorable, but here we all are , listening and appreciating him all over again. Wonderful reaction to a very rare and special glimpse into his life. 🙏💕👌🕺

Elvis recorded many cover songs and many Elvis originals are covered by many other artists. However, this Ivory Joe Hunter song, It’s Still Here, and the other Ivory Joe Hunter song Elvis recorded the same night, I will Be True, were ONLY recorded by IJH and Elvis. I can find no evidence that anyone else made a professional recording of these two songs. Amazing!
