What's more, it's just stupid as hell in this context. They sent a massive ship of the fleet and expended literal tons of resources to demand unrealistic expectations of a tiny farming commune, with minimal information in regards to the status of the demanded resources. They wasted more in waving their schlongs around than they ever could have gotten from that village, and that's if everything had gone according to their plans with no resistance whatsoever. If that's standard procedure for them, their empire would be doomed to crumble from the start. They absolutely suck at racketeering, counter-insurgency, and logistics in general.

One little tidbit that I personally found hilarious in the second movie (my mom conned me into it because she loves shitty movies) was that the entire showdown on Veldt, the walkers are pretty much never used until the very last minute, and they have an incredibly small screen time, so much so that it was hard to even find a screenshot of one. Turns out, if you get a solid look at it, it looks damn near identical to the Fallen Walker of Destiny fame with a perhaps Metal Gear skin lazily plastered over it. Man i was floored, that made me laugh so damn hard.

I actually did the math. That village would have have plenty of food. Enough to feed 400 people for a year. Also, the conflict makes no sense because the empire can make worm holes. That technology allows them to always be 1 stop away from their home planet. They didn't need the wheat and the amount of wheat they asked for was probably not enough for a ship that size. The story made no sense.

Honestly the whole "wanders around recruiting people to take on the big bad" could have worked a LOT better as a series. Each episode explores the origin and recruitment of one of the nifty sidekicks, so you can become attached to them and care that they're on the team, with some big conflict/cliffhanger at the end of the season which sets up the season 2 fight with the big bad. Super easy, barely an inconvenience

Like, sometimes minorities exist with no alterior motives. Shocker. And even if such motivations exist, so what? Does seeing a gay person threaten your livelihood? The end result is typically something completely benign, so there's literally no problem. Like, I could throw a marshmallow at you with the intent to kill, but the worst I could achieve is mild annoyance. @@bloodyneptune Dune is not a Space Opera. The original Dune novel (Dune Part 1 and 2) is fundamentally about ecology, and the politics of ecology. Later novels shifted themes pretty dramatically, but that first novel is heavily science-themed. It was even based on a non-fiction article Herbert started writing about the use of special grasses to stop the spread of deserts.

Here's how the plot could have worked better: 1. Instead of going around recruiting random people first they go directly to The Rebels through Kai, who is convinced to ferry them there once Kora mentions Atticus, to Gunnar's confusion. Bloodaxe refuses them outright, saying that defending one small settlement isn't worth all their lives. But then Kora reveals that Atticus was and *will* be there personally. This then reveals that Atticus isn't just some commander, he's one of the new regime's top officers and is THE rebel hunter. Killing him would not only destabilise motherworld's control over the outer worlds but also send shockwaves all the way to the government's inner circle THEN the cast would start looking for unique individuals at Bloodaxe's behest, to bolster their numbers with people with a grudge against Atticus specifically. 2. When we get to Atticus one of his lieutenants with the funny hats, lays out how maybe being so harsh was a bad move. As now that settlement has every reason to run to the rebels At which point Atticus basically says "no sh!t, Sherlock" Revealing that everything he did in the prologue was all calculated. He didn't *like* it, in fact he hated it, but he had alredy figured out they had relations with the rebels. So he knew that if he made them desperate enough they would run to them for help. He also knew they would refuse them if he hadn't made such a big show and been there personally. Basically using himself as bait. Thus turns Atticus from a cartoon villain into an actual clever planner, who managed to turn months if not YEARS of looking for a needle in a haystack into shooting fish in a barrel. And by enthasizing that he didn't enjoy killing Sigrun, in fact he would be visibly shaken in this version, and threatsning the settlement, it takes him from a complete psychopath to soldier doing his duty without question and to the best of his abilities 3. Then the rest of the movie proceeds normally. Although Kai betrays them because he made a deal with Atticus that assured his family a prosperous life on motherworld instead of scrounging for scraps, in exchange for the leaders/instigators of the rebellion. Then, at the end, when the cast returns to the planet, everyone is dead except the robot. Revealing that the main thing they were fighting for is GONE. And their sacrifice is invalidated when Atticus is brought back at the end of the movie There, with just a few rewrites, the movie is like 10% better and less stupid
