There's definitely a huge difference between the way John acted when his first joined the band like in this vid, and how he was right after BSSM came out, and then after he rejoined the band he was like a completely different person all over again. Seriously, when I look at all the videos of John from 1989-2008 and compare it's like I'm looking at 3 or 4 different people depending on the time period. There was young wild John, mad depressed John, junkie John, & finally, happy Jesus looking John.

Jesus christ what an amazing performance. It took me the whole video to realize that Chad was standing at the drums though :D Once i saw it, that was the only thing I could focus on xD

2020 and I gotta comment on this video.... Love the performance, Will on backing vocals was great (he's a MONSTER bassist). I gotta say that Paul and the band probably had more fun on this song live than they had on all the songs they played live. I love this old school RHCP vibe, we need this vibe back for today.

It didn't look like that to me, I think he was just making faces, it was part of his stage behavior, he did stuff like that all the time.

I love how Anthony and Flea go from all that energy and high fives after Rockin Out to like total class acts when Dave comes down to shake hands. Can't wait for the new album with John! Anyone know who's producing it? I hope it's Rick Rubin!

The energy in frusciante here is amazing. It’s so weird, it properly seems like a different person altogether. Heroin takes your soul kids.
@rustyjames17274 жыл бұрын
True but if you look at him in 89 vs 91 there are significant differences there as well.
@wendyslittleprogram39844 жыл бұрын
@@rustyjames1727 That's true. Another of my favourite TV performances is under the bridge in 92 - for different reasons of course.
@featheryfemme4 жыл бұрын
That's not really because of heroin, this just wasn't him. Anthony and Flea wanted him to be someone he wasn't to fit better with the band's image, and so the real John Frusciante was no more. He eventually got tired of it, though, and went back to who he really was nearing BSSM. He was a completely different person than this energy-filled maniac of a guitarist, and Anthony didn't like that, so he and John stopped getting along, blah blah blah, you know the rest. Then when John came back, he continued to be himself and the guys adapted to that. All in all, he changed very little for a Heroin addict.

It’s called AGE. He was young and immature and now he’s all grown up. LOL. It has nothing to do with heroin.
@20rileybob4 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favorite performances to watch Frusciante cuz of how much energy he gives off and how happy he seems! Also why is Chad on some standing kit playing like backup drums?
@paulapioan292 жыл бұрын
Chad was playing timbales, as the house band were jamming with the chillies (the bass player took backing vocals).

It's a jam session. Paul Shaffer is playing organ, Will Lee (Letterman bass player) is on backing vocals, not sure who the Letterman band guitarist was at that time but he was playing extra rhythm and I don't know many drummers who wouldn't give it up to jam with Anton Fig on kit.
