I’m not sure if it’s a glitch or there is an unlisted 12 turn limit but before i searched for this video, I kept getting the backtrack message after attacking the correct 3rd bandit. He poofs over and says how did you know, and then faycal talks. Then it gives me the fail message

If you paused there is x/12 round on the top left indicating round limit

If you are one square off from this vid you just fail unless you memorize every step the imposter takes by backtracking the vid. Terrible battle. I hope they don't repeat this type of challenge next event. Trial and error of this scale isn't fun.
