The point is if they're already on board Elysium, then bringing the machines to Earth and charging people isn't worth the return in profit (not to mention the machines would be stolen or trashed in a matter of days, requiring higher security, requiring higher costs) It's only "unnecessary conflict" if you don't think *conflict between classes of society* is logical - which it is, it absolutely is. Is there a single reason why Matt Damon's character fights on equal footing with an experienced mercenary? Max is just a common thug in the story.
@Numerial0.0 Жыл бұрын
Same reason as to how gangsters could achieve rocket science. Another "view" of that functional aesthetic is that it's the future and perhaps there was genetic engineering similar, but a lot more primitive, to the med bays on Elysium. The world takes place in that strange relationship of technology and extreme poverty so there's gangbanging with hard tech and that could go along with martial arts. While not shown in the film, I'm sure there's a lot of crazy violence across the globe and as with any poverty-stricken area people have to learn to protect themselves and maybe gangs learned Krav Maga or any fighting style from a film they found. Or someone who knew a fighting style and was killed was respected by living gang members by learning how to fight like them from a video or some tech handed down or something. Maybe if he was part of a gang it was mandatory to learn how to fight effectively and ruthlessly against other gangs who also could street fight merged with traditional/military styles. A lot of people go to youtube to learn Krav Maga or Muay Thai and while it's not the real class with an instructor it's experience regardless and I'm sure Max had plenty of that. Not sure about a standing government, nation or military in this universe so maybe there is some structure and it involves self defense for those in that group. Very weird juxtaposition of sci fi tech and poverty that in todays society would not produce scientific-savvy gangsters but it also could be in the movie for an audience to make the most of themselves showing them that someone living a bad life can redeem themselves and think about others lives for a better community or world. It's just part of the world in the end. Who knows maybe Max had mercenary training not made by CCB (or whatever) but by Neo-Cartels or something before the movie began. Or it all could just be bullshit but it was a cool movie
