No I think Eric is working out the metronome since a metronome can’t think or do things by itself, since it is a machine

thebarak no, wrong. He is only in time when you cannot hear the metronome and that was too few times.
@ajwasp4 жыл бұрын
therainman777 sorry man but it’s you that’s wrong. There are even brief moments in this video where he nearly plays in time and the metronome volume goes down. It is also the only reason to practice to a metronome at all. You internalize the speed of sound that the metronome gives and then copy it, and play with it. ‘NOT listen after it’, which the drummer here was unfortunately still doing. I was trained at DrumTech/Guitar Institute, London, back in 1996, and even RSM grade 8 music theory. I know exactly what I am talking about!
@ajwasp4 жыл бұрын
therainman777 no, you are still wrong! When the drummer plays in time correct to a metronome, you cannot hear the metronome. You anticipate the beat, you never listen to the best once you know it and feel it. Logic does not do what you said at all. Your logic is nonsense. I bet you haven’t even got the balls to ignore this thread and accept your wrong and go out and find out for yourself just how wrong you are. One more harassment from you and I am reporting you. I tried to help.

Nasku practicing with a click until you can bury it on every style makes you a very well rounded drummer. Chops will only get you far and while I consider blast beats chops it’s all pointless if you can’t play to a click. Like stated a hr a day isn’t much wish I could go for more. But it keeps my timing solid and I get practice fills etc. I dedicate a hr a day to the click even if it’s not on the kit and just a pad. Ask well as I try to seek out a different fill or pattern and learn one per week. Could learn more but I’m a firm believer in being able to play fills in time. A lot of drummer have the chops but you play a fill at 98bpm and use a back track and see how off you’re. Hope this isn’t coming off as being a dick. Just my routine I use. I play in a few cover bands in my area everywhere from rock,country, reggae and then also do metal, hard core etc. and record with my original band. And I try to stay as well rounded as possible in as many styles, genres as possible. A well rounded drummer who can bury a click will never have trouble looking for work. But with that said it’s also knowing how to play to the song, locking in a groove staying in the pocket and knowing when to drive and pull off tasteful licks. A lot of drummers now a-days play fast and do stick tricks which is great for entertaining I do them as wel but the song suffers greatly from over playing. The playing should come first the visuals of stick tricks should come after. If you look at Eric’s playing with bands and as a hired drummer he plays to the song. So hopefully none of this came off as being a dick. Just love seeing good tasteful drummers. Have a great day and keep up the drumming!!!
@nasku25065 жыл бұрын
@@dye182 Its alright. The thing is i dont really have a motivation other than Eric. Im not really passionate. I think practicing with a click is boring. But i will do it. I want to be a professional. And make my father proud. But yeah thank you for the explanation. I will practice better.
@FernandoCuadro5 жыл бұрын
@@nasku2506 it seems boring at first but with time you start to "hear" melodies on your head, for me the "musical" drummers do ths a lot. When you practice chops you learn something very "exact" and then you try to use it in the exact same way you learned it. Be against a metronome and nothing more forces you to make music. i think at first is boring because since there are no other musicians you have nothing to draw inspiration from, but as soon you start to "hear" melodies in your head you will find groove and music. That's the way of jazz my son XD (joking).
