Just bought a Babyhawk the other day, after buying a 3" R model a few weeks ago. The stock tune on did not fly well at all. It oscillated and even did the "flip of death" when I was flying in rate mode. I put your PIDs into it viola! It flies amazing! It's much more manageable than my Babyhawk R and I can still fly it indoors too. Thank you so much for helping out a FPV noob like myself!!

Hello Mr. Davis, just received my Baby Hawk and wanted to thank you for doing such an awesome in depth review, set-up and total tear down and rebuild. I’ve only been flying, if you want to call it that, for almost a year. A guitar student/friend of mine got me hooked on Quadcopter/Kwads/Quad/Drones, whatever they are being called this week, freestyle and racing. He actually built me a 5” to learn on, which for me, was more than a little bit terrifying for a first Quad. Being a instructor and performer, all I could think of was; “finger removal machine” (to the tune of The Cult’s “Love Removal Machine” Ha ha) So, I bought a tiny whoop clone(Eachine e010 and added FPV) which was and is great but, has now become for lack of a better word, boring and too easy. I have the module so I fly it with my Taranis but, it being stock FC there is no Acro Mode. Thanks to you for bringing the Baby Hawk to my attention. For me it seems like the next logical step while I’m building my own Armattan Chameleon 5”. Hoping to be able to graduate to it from the Baby Hawk in due time. I watch every single one of your shows. Awesome work!! Just had to pass along that these PIDs worked perfectly on my modified BH. I installed all of the BH stock electronics on the 3DPOWER x BabyHawk 100-BLAC-SX Stretch X frame from TacoRC. I played around to see if I could better what you had and to be honest, I wasn't too successful. I really appreciate the numbers, it saved me a ton of time. Cheers, dave (Hawki FPV)

Excellent tutorial video Justin!! Picked up the Babyhawk at Flite Fest East in mid July & can't wait to get it in the air. Got the PNP version & bought the FrSky receiver XM+. The guys there at the Emax booth were very nice & they put the receiver in for me. Only 2 things I have to get is the beeper & the Taranis QX7. Looks like I'm going to have to flip the Esc's over. They're facing down when I looked up from the bottom just like yours was

FYI frame swap the Lizzard frame from eachine is real nice to swap even the camera tower lines right up to bolt it up I had a spare and after I cracked the plastic B. H. frame I was going to ca glue it and order a new one then I spotted the Lizzard frame and now it handles much better lighter and quieter to.

Just desolder the clover antenna and resolder it facing back like the tinywhoop mullet mod and it would last tons of crashes.

They finally have it in stock just ordered one !,I think that it being so small and light carbon isn't exactly necessary. I've been experimenting with some tiny designs in 1/8 plywood and acrylic. And they don't break either

When I connected my XM receiver, I just spread the pins on the femto out a little so they lined up with the receiver and soldered them to the receiver board.

Any chance of one more followup video with how to hook up telemetry? Flying on a 3 minute timer I either still have life left in the pack or I discharge it too far, telemetry in the goggles or at least on the controller would be SO nice and in the F3 Femto manual it says that it supports frsky telemetry, smartport, and HoTT telemetry.

I have a baby hawk I purchase one from The Hobby Shop the Flies pretty good not that bad I have problem with the prop guards I took them out I turn them upside down and put them as landing gears I cut some of the pieces off and I left them like legs it's a lot better in those armor God don't help anyone is flying it works good just take and turn them over upside down and put them on the bottom we screw them on play with them get the field it's a lot better

Whatever you do, try to avoid moving the wires as much as possible. They are very thing and break from the solder joint.

What am I doing wrong? I am using your settings but when I move the sticks to full deflection the throws only go to about 200 degrees per second instead of the full scale on the PID graph. Im using a DX6i transmitter.

Another question, I thought that on a symetrical frame you typically use the same pitch and roll PID settings since there's not any more mass front to rear that they need to control. Do you have those higher pitch rates because you like the feel +Drone Camps RC ?

In my configuration tab under receiver it will stay on serial buss receiver but when I change the signal serial receiver provider and save and reboot when I connect back it is switched back to spectrum 1024. Please help I’ve done it over and over and it does this every time.

Great video. My babyhawk rolls sideways for no reason. While im flying it flies forward then all of a sudden is rolls to the left and then straightens out. It does this like 4-5 times during a 3 min flight. Any ideas?

Babyhawk issues. Burned an ESC, replaced it and motor. No functionality. Tried to connect FC to betaflight or BHeli, but can not connect. Can you offer any insight? Perhaps how to get betaflight to recognize the FC when I connect the USB. Do I need to solder bridge and which pads do I bridge?

Hi Justin I wandered if you could help me please. I have a babyhawk and i blew the board. I fitted a new f3 femto board, I flashed it with the latest firmware (spracingf3 evo) I restored my old babyhawk settings also. Now it wont fly. All my motors spin but its like its severely unbalanced. I tried changing the esc settings and found that in DSHOT300 the motors spin smoothly but only 3 of the motor spin. when i back to ONESHOT 125 all four motors spin again but the quad shakes erratically? any Ideas please

Cool updates. I use the Turnigy nano-tech 300mah 2S 45~90C Lipo Pack 23g for 2.5mins flight time. They are a third of the size of a normal lipo and don't fit in the strap. You'll need some 3m Velcro. Has anyone fit the new micro runcam? I'm using a FS-A8S 2.4Ghz 8CH Mini receiver with a turnigy Evolution on ibus on stock settings and its dialled in. Looking to update the camera as it's washed out when going from light to dark areas. No WDR I think. :-)

I don't see bars on the receiver page in Betaflight. I have a green light on my RX. I'm using the FrSky XM+ I'm using the latest version of Betaflight. I clicked on reset settings in Betaflight, that didn't work. My channel map is TAER1234. Motors spin up, everything else works. Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks.

Love mine. Are you sure yours has a 5 band 40 ch VTX? I don't have band E and there are some channels not avail.

KTMADVguy57 that’s true. One thing to take note of, many VTX’s that have all those extra channels are actually illegal channels. I imagine Emax, being one of the tops in the field, doesn’t want to perpetuate this bad practice. Check out Joshua Bardwell’s channel. He speaks on this subject often. It’s things like that, illegal channels, that are helping to give Quad Pilots and quads bad press Bc people that don’t know better are using the illegal channels and stomping all over Mr. and Mrs. average Joe’s WiFi reception in their homes near by. I hope that helps.

I can't get this thing to do anything. I just got mine in the mail. I soldered on my flysky A8s receiver and buzzer. flipped the esc's over and mounted them as well as the FC. The motors won't spool up. When I give it throttle the led light flashes red. I also can't connect the usb and power at the same time. It shuts my computer down after it continually tries to connect. I refreshed the board with the most recent firmware once the receiver tabs all disappeared. At this point the drone doesn't do anything but blink colors and make beeping noises. Please HELP!!

Joseph Cuevas are you using a turnigy evolution if so use ibus in betaflight3.2. Mine then worked great.

Drift King You have to solder the power wire to the left bootloader pad. The signal and ground are in the same place though.

savagexs man Turnigy or Flysky protocols, all receiver will advise what they use but you can get some micro Flysky's that are perfect for this model and Evolution transmitter.

You need ibus for flysky. Not sure which side. Google the Femto F3 manual.

It's only showing spectrum and ppm options from what I can tell. ...I just read on that it does support Ibus and apparently the same ports as sbus? Sorry to be a pest, most of this is very foreign to me and it's difficult to figure out what I'm doing wrong by searching videos and forums.

No worries. It should hook right into the sbus port. three wires. usually yellow or white is the "signal wire". Red to 5v. Black to ground. GND. Try Sbus.

hi Justin maybe you can help me? my hawk is very weak compared to others I've been seeing online. esc protocol is on oneshot125 all your pids exactly but I have no punch out compared to all the others I've seen on KZbin. I'm hovering at 45 50% throttle. is there something maybe I can change on my qx7? Please help if you can, I know you must get thousands of people asking for help.

One idea : Check out your Motor timing setting in BL HELI Suite. Set it to High. Write to ESCs. Might help Brazy.

It's fast but remember it's not like a 5". The Babyhawk does have 1104 motors but they just can't pull out of some maneuvers. You have to gun the throttle sometimes to pull out of stuff. I forget it's not a 5" quad sometimes and slam dunk it.

frankie Martinez that’s a tough question. In my experience, I’ve had no problems with Bang. Although, whenever its available, I opt for the USA warehouse. It may sometimes be a couple dollars more or less but, you will receive your order much, much faster.
