I’m looking to get one. But which one ? 2” 6000 kv vs 3” 4500kv Now I see you can upgrade the 2” by adding 2.5” arms and 2.5” props. Do you think this set is a better option than the 3” ? I already have a 3” xjb145 What can you say about the performance. Can it hang with the 3” variation ?

I just wanted to thank you again for your awesome detailed reviews, you're doing such great work on it! And one note to that cap on the babyhawk: I put one on my GT-R90 and had some blackouts on the video signal, made a vid on my channel about it...assumed it had to do with that cap. Having the clearest signal thanks to it and then these blackouts, bummer.. Well..solution was: The wires of that cap were too long! After i shortened them as much as the frame would let me, all was fine..battery usage back to normal and no more blackouts! Must be something with the 3S power (50-100c mylipo.de), that cap kind of swallowed the current too much for the rest of the system I guess.. So that might be the reason for the babyhawk's cap being at the side! ;)

Top shelf review! I appreciate honesty in a review, and especially attention to detail. I got one latter on, and they may have fixed the bonnet, but, I had watched another video that showed the guy lift the bonnet with only two screws from the back, and loosening the camera screws. I couldn't help but notice it's as though they have the two buttons mixed up, Most novice users would appreciate them swapping the bind button, on the transmitter, and the function button on the vtx. For a novice user it would be great to not have to dismantle the canopy in order to bind, but rather a button like that on the vtx large, visible, accessible with a toothpick, without removing the canopy. if only one of those can be accessible without opening, or removing the canopy, then let it be the bind one, and set the vtx to high power, and to auto on, unless you could set them both to be easily accessible like that, and honestly, why not? and while we are at it is a little sticker with a red arrow pointing to the bind button, with giant Green letters BIND, pointing at the bind button through the shell cost so much? you would think based on the number of them you see. Also I noticed that tumor on the side and was wondering what it was, as well as why it couldn't fit into one of the many empty spaces inside? and the weight stood out to me right away as well, but have not tried it on anything other than a 300mah 2s so far. It is impressively accurate, and responsive, but I'm going to have to get back to you after mine sits in rice for a while if they fly after going into the shallow end of your swimming pool. I think it may, but really wonder about the vtx, dang it amazon! they sent me a drone that for all intensive purposes seems like it's been in a swimming pool! What's up with that!?!? Thanks, WSS

I recently bought one of these and put an R-XSR in there to get smartport telemetry from that. Mounted the antennas on the arms and put the VTX antenna out of that hole at the top. Not had a chance to fly it yet though with the crappy weather.

I just put my R in a cygnet 2" frame and with my beefy 850mah tatts the motors get warm but ok with 650. I ordered a runcam hybrid for it too. The Babyhawk tune is as good as the Geps and even a bit better slow with extra frame weight. A good bodge.

Hello Andy, excellent review as usual :) 2 months ago I built myself a 2 inch quad based on a Fly Egg 136 frame and the same components as in the BabyHawk R: Emax RS1106 6000KV motors and the F3 Magnum stack, so it is a little bigger than the BabyHawk R (136mm) and has bigger props also (Kingkong 2840), it is flying fine but the quad has terrible oscillations when giving some throttle, I tried to tune PIDs as much as possible, my D are already quit low (20/23) so I am a bit out of solutions to fix this, in 4S it is just impossible to fly so much it wobbles on the throttle... Would you have some recommendations? Thanks in advance! Chears from France!

I just done the 2.5" upgrade but swapped for the 2540 gemfans but havnt had a chance to test yet. Its a great little flyer with awesome acro capabilities. Cheers for great video

I your reading this and wondering if weight is an issue... its not, it has a lot of power for punch outs! but theres is something to be had with light weight drones, altho more power, most of the time, equals to more fun. If your still reading this, do check out these nice light weight 2.5 inch BNF setups from pocketquads lightspeed and quattrovolante libero.

Nice review. Seems it should be a popular choice, given how popular the original BabyHawk was. I didn't see anyone list the prop spec, but they look like they could be 2045 or even 2050 .. who knows. It's really hard to predict weather here on the South shore of Lake Erie. If the wind shifts 5 degrees, it can be the difference between getting 5 inches of snow or 2 feet of snow. Its rare when they get the actual amount correct. We just have to hope for the best and be ready for the worst ... good advice under any condition! Cheers.

Yep, the Unibody wastes too much material in production compared to single arms....The other thing you didn't mention was the screws they have used, (too big in diameter) adding to the weight.... and a Unibody would have used less screws. Even the Motor retaining screws are too big / heavy....It all adds up.

I think the whole lightest at all costs thought that most people have is a bit overblown. I have a 100g build that flies 3s amazing. I lightened up my next build to 80g and prefer the way the extra weight feels....and hardly ever fly the lighter setup.

@PowerScissor

ChristianP1973 NOT "always" because you are always giving up something for that weight...usually strength. I'd rather have a 60g heavier 5" quad that is basically bulletproof...than a superlight that breaks if you look at wrong. But some people prefer building & repairing to actually flying, whereas I want to spend most of my time flying not on the bench. Just a personal preference...but lighter for sure is not "always" better.

Noticed that alot of you guys are baging GearBest for not delivering in time which I find a bit of a mystery as I have bought three orders from them in the past year and two of the three arrived in under 10 days and I'm in Australia and also choosing free postage as the bucks are short over here! but the last one has been 12 days and still no show So i'll get back to ya all on that one? Still I find their delivery times very good compared to Bangood who took a minimum of 18 days and somtimes +20.Hope all yours turn up soon but I guess theyre only as good as the company who transports them?.

For the money, the x140 is an awesome deal. Excellent flight stack. Decent camera,and vtx. Decent motors, and a stylish(and tank-like) frame. Its an excellent option for an everyday flyer. Not necessarily the fastest, but quick enough, agile, efficient with power consumption. I average ~6 minutes of mildly aggressive flight time with a CNHL 4S 650mah 70C! All of that on a frame that you can abuse like you're paid to, and it'll keep on keepin' on. Definitely a winner!

I bought one before any reviews were released because it looked so good in paper. didn't disappoint when I got it. from there all you will want is more. not that the x140 lacks on anything. its a perfect package for the price! but what I am trying to say is, once you fell involve with 3 inch drones you'll want more! currently building a hyperlite Hyperbaby 3inch

Why was it created in the USA; Emax Loong-Max is part of YinYan Model Tech which doesn't sound very American?

I but from Banggood now, at least they tell you when the products is actually in stock and then ship it directly. Gearbest just take your money and then you go to the back of the line.

patrickcol yes banggood is better but cut from the same cloth- they have been flakey on promo coupons and hide behind the Pacific Ocean when I try to hold them to their adprint I get such good support from several others they're getting my $ from now on
