Emax Tinyhawk 2 Race VTX Antenna Upgrade

Love my tiny hawk race. Chopped my vtx antenna clean off after a wreck and was struggling to figure out what antenna would work for a replacement im only 2 months into the hobby but i figured out acro mode for the most part but learning flips and power loops sometimes end up in mean crash. Great video man. Its put me at ease.

I'm learning to solder and stuff AND how to fly drones. I love my TH2FS but I've slowly been upgrading it with 3D printed stuff. The VTX antenna is my next feat after I get soldering down. I've got the little ufl connectors coming, too. I plan on just soldering one of those on so I can upgrade the antenna easier later on. I have a foxeer lollipop for the time being, I'm going to eventually get a AXII mini lollipop. This way, once I get that new one, I can just pop the old one off and slap the new one on. Thanks for the video. Shows me that the board can, in fact, take the little ufl connector pad.

As a cable tech i dont suggest soldering your inside coax. Great job on the soldering. Love your videos!

Hi! I have a TH2 Race also and the VTX antenna has been partly chopped off from the props and also from a crash. I use the Emax Transporter FPV Goggles 5.8G and I was wondering if that VTX antenna upgrade would still work with these goggles? If I use 5.8G antenna to connect to the goggles, I figured that it would do the trick, but since I am pretty new to FPV, I wanted to make sure. Thanks for your help!

I recommend running the shielding back the other way to expose less of the center wire.

Careful does it ladies and gentlemen. I just broke my VTX(grey screen) with this operation. I thought myself pretty proficient at soldering and it seemed like it went off without a hitch but now I'm scrambling to replace my VTX. Don't be dissuaded, life is about trying new things just understand what you might be losing and be prepared to rectify and restore.

Nice video ! I might have to try this mod for my tiny hawk 2 race. I can’t find stock props anywhere, every place I check online is sold out. Do you know anywhere I could buy new props? I’ve tried the gemfan props and they are terrible. One crash or hard landing and they are toast. Any recommendations on good props for this thing?

Hello, I replaced the default VTX antenna in my Tinyhawk Race 2 with the same Micro AXII RHCP as you. I also replaced the receiver antenna with a new one (31.2mm of centre wire exposed). I'm now getting better image quality, but the signal is really bad. If my quad flies 5m behind me, I automatically lose the signal. Same if in front of me but slightly larger range. Help is so much appreciated

First thing to check is if the camera itself is loose. Let me know if that's the issue!

Hi, I lost the antenna and the little tiny pad in a crash. Then, I am not able to solder again a new antena to the vtx :( I think I have to replace the vtx. Can I do the vtx mod on the tinyhawk II race?

Yes. It has the same fc as the tinyhawk freestyle. You just need to make sure you have enough room under the canopy.
