Midir wasn’t overrated to me until i tried it recently…still i rate bosses on music and atmosphere as well, doesn’t always matter like i might be jamming to the living failures in bloodborne but I’m actually just fighting living failures in a relatively small-medium sized dandelion garden However Gael and midir became easy to beat, fast, and that’s not entirely fun or maybe that’s just me, but their music and atmosphere are what keep me coming back to them so i gotta give them props for that, gael really felt like the final boss of the series and for midir…they couldn’t have chosen a better optional boss to end on. Talking lore-wise as well

Champion Gundyr is not in a parallel universe. It’s in the distant past, he was a champion like the ashen one. But when he got to firelink the flame had already faded and darkness took over. Then you come and defeat him which is why at the start of the game he has the sword through him.

Another aspect of Dancer's difficulty is that you're sent there immediately after either Aldrich or Yhorm, depending on who you beat first, and if you're not suspicious of the boss arena being a boss arena, you're likely to immediately trigger the fight without preparing for it first.

@@iamMildlyUpsetWithMostOfYouTub It is disputable Ds3 is is extremely linear and looses alot of replayability because the early game is always the same. If you played every game the order they came out then you realised that DS3 had almost no new ideas and recycled alot from the earlier titles. I think the color pallet is awful and everything feels grey and washed out. @@AdrianBuseth I personally think DS3 is far ahead of Demon's Souls, DS1 and DS2. And if you're talking about recycling, DS1 also recycled a ton from Demon's Souls. Experimental ideas don't always result in good quality, and the first 3 souls games have far bigger missteps than DS3. DS3 laid the foundation for Elden Ring in terms of gameplay. DS3 is so refined in that department and has a better overall ost than the first 3 games. It's no contest for me.

I’m always surprised when people put DS3 low down on their list of favorite fromsoft titles. To me the nostalgia in this game hits home hard, and the narrative is beautifully crafted around the same core concepts of 1. But even if the nostalgia doesn’t land, you still have arguably the highest average quality of bosses in this game, with some truly spectacular ones mixed in! Imo this game nailed the balance of being difficult yet fun, and will always be one of my favorite games to replay.
@HMCarsSOA

Agreed, personally i could not fathom placing DS1 over DS3 apart from maybe out of nostalgia. And i could not understand how people talk about Bloodborne as if it's light years ahead of DS3, DS3 is top tier, and i'm glad people are starting to see that now. Best boss roster and arguably the best soundtrack in the series.

@The Profaned Black Knight I tried my absolute damnedest to enjoy Ds1 more than Ds3 but the only 2 things that are genuinely better in Ds1 are the journey/world and the actual Lore itself surrounding the land, Gwyn, Manus and Artorias. Honorable mentions are some side quests, intricate details in the environment, and severing tails for more weapons but that's about it. The best bosses in the game to fight are Artorias and Manus by a long shot but they hold up beautifully. Most of the osts are pretty dull and the movesets are super basic but still endearing. I'd say the main reason for this is I never played these games until Bloodborne,then I got Ds3 and played backwards to Ds1 because I sort of had my own story going on with my character. Ds3 is incredibly linear but it's like a short and sweet boss rush game in a world that's collapsing under eons of kingdoms and wars with a beautiful dlc to go with it. It's a matter of preference but Ds3 pvp was so lame all I did was play the story and ended up beating it 23 times

This was my first Souls game, and i haven't struggled too much with the bosses (even Nameless king) but Soul of Cinder almost made me quit. His attack spam in the curved sword stance is insane, the straight sword stance has delayed moves that make no sense (unlike gundyr or DSA) and random follow ups, and don't even get me started on the healing in the spear stance that makes an already tanky boss go on forever. On the other hand, in the second phase you're always at a risk of dying instantly to his 5 hit combo. I love the moveset and the callback to Gwyn but i'm really not a big fan of it.

It's always been my hot take that Nameless King is overrated because players are too forgiving of how bad the King of the Storms phase is. It has to be in the top 3 worst camera implemntations in the entire franchise. Yes, after enough playthroughs you kind of learn how to get through it without too much trouble, but it never makes the phase anything approaching good. And it's something many people I've seen admit is bad or at least problematic about him, but just forgive it because they like the second phase so much. I am not sure if there is another boss talked about in the top tiers that has as agregious of an issue that everyone just kind of accepts. That said, I think other bosses have either caught up to him or surpassed him on popularity, so it makes it a little less overrated than he once was. And of course, this is just my personal opinion. Anyway, thanks for the video! Entertaining as always.

I'm glad there's another youtuber who actually thinks Twin Princes is heavily underrated. There just as memorable as nameless king, abyss watchers etc. The music for there fight is honestly one of the best OSTs in all the Souls games for me. Couple there music with the introduction and the actual fight, it feels very cinematic and tension filled.

Bit telling that a lot of the community opinion of a boss often seems to boil down to "Is it hard?" with a side of "and does it look cool?". Also idk about blanket claiming ds3 has the best bosses in the series when sekiro exists, unless you mean of the dark souls games specifically. Even then, I personally prefer ds1's lineup, but that's a combination of taste and being a str weapons enthusiast, and a number of ds3's more interesting bosses felt like they were designed more around the speed of dex weapons. Or rather, more accurately, they were designed around the speed of bloodborne's combat. I'm pretty sure the ds3 team just forgot they weren't making bloodborne at times.

I don't understand how people consider Midir to be difficult. He is an interesring boss, but i wouldn't say that he is difficult. You can just stay under him to hit his neck or tail, look out for his fire attack and explosion, and just quickly run against him whenever he starts his pushing attacks. Whenver he starts to breathe fire under himself just run to his tail and hit him while his breathing. As easy as that. Maybe if he had some unpredictable body slam, so that you won't stay under him, he would be difficult. Usually people for some reason try to stay right in front of him and dodge all the attacks, and i guess that is the reason why people always die to him and think that he is difficult.

One thing I'll say about deacons is that they are an absolute nightmare in challenge runs. The whole boss fight is a dps check and if your challenge is shield only, bows only, or throwables only, you'll have to be fast so you don't get killed by the curse attack

DS Armor and the Champ are 2 of my fav fights in ds3. Its just so fun to dodge around their combos plus their difficultly is almost perfectly fair (besides DS armor turtling and Champ's fuckin charge with 360 degree heat seeking tracking)
@jackholt6860
@jackholt6860 5 ай бұрын
Champ gundyr is like an Elden Ring boss in ds3. Once I learned that you can only safely attack him in phase 2 after he does a kick it just became dodge simulator which wasn't all that fun. Maybe if I had a fast weapon I could sneak in some attacks at other times too but for me it was painful with my Claymore. My guess ppl don't talk about demon princes much because they are so squishy that everyone defeats them in 1 or 2 attempts and barely gets to see much of their moveset lol. I remember it was really cinematic in phase 2 but that's about it. My only complaint about Gael was again he was a bit like an Elden Ring boss in phase 2 where he had those "gotcha" attacks which he extended from his first phase and you just had to dodge roll endlessly but he is fair enough.

This is probably my favorite game of all time (Batman Arkham City and Shin Megami Tensei 4 are also in my top 3 and they switch constantly). I think with most of these bosses being properly rated when many of them are universally loved or hated just shows how well designed and polished this game is. I'm currently playing the game on SL1 and it's kicking my shit in but I'm determined to go through it. Deacons are a weird boss for me. On NG+ and above they've actually been giving me some trouble. I feel like bosses shouldn't punish you for your weapon choice but this kinda does (I tried beating them with a rapier and it sucks not being able to hit multiple enemies at once). Also since poise is so weak in this game it's very easy to get knocked around especially when you are swarmed and there's deacons throwing out fireballs and casting Wrath of the Gods. It's gorgeously atmospheric otherwise and even this boss is better than 75% of DS1 and almost all of DeS lol. I have never died once to Crystal Sage until I learned you could parry him and I tried to do it on my most recent playthrough lol. If you just bum rush bro, it's not bad at all. I also have friends that have trouble with the Crystal Sages and I just never understood it. I quite like the Old Demon King. As a lore head though, the impact is cheapened by the fact that you fight one more demon boss in the DLC (although Demon Princes are top 10 Souls bosses so I guess it was worth it). Are people seriously saying they don't like the Abyss Watchers? Most I've seen are people who like them. It's a phenomenal gank fight and an early game highlight. What's even more impressive is that the bosses get even better after that point. Aldrich is way too RNG focused for me. Every time I've fought this boss it depended on whether or not he does the stupid arrow rain attack that tracks you for 10 years. I know there is a way for you to make sure he doesn't do that but that doesn't make the attack less dumb

ds3 is *probably* my favorite souls game, overall. the other 3 (including demon's souls) are all excellent, but had issues. I never felt like ds3 had major flaws. it's not too long, boss runs aren't unreasonable, levels are consistently good throughout, and it wasn't boss spammed. I recently replayed it (after a few years off) with my son, and forgot just how much I enjoyed this game! it's even better when your 15yr old loves the genre, and is an excellent coop player!!

Actual good tip. The nameless king REALLY teaches you 2 things that are heavily punished if you lack in this fight. Patience, timing and healing windows. Greed makes it impossible. His timings have that wierd windup later souls games started adding and he HEAVILY punishes erratic healing.

I think Demon Prince is overrated. All i hear about the fight is praise and i really don't get it. The first phase has some really cool design ideas like the "passive" and the "active" prince, but that's it. When they're both active, it fucking sucks, you're forced to run around the arena for a minute, waiting for one of them to become passive, because otherwise you don't have safe openings because their attacks overlap. And the second phase is good, but the changes if you kill one prince first aren't that notable, unlike Ornstein & Smough, when the second phase is completely different depending on who you kill first. (Here, it's only one attack that's different). And they have so much health you might just as well tickle them to death. I don't know who thought giving the Demon Prince such a high physical resistance in a fight with a total of 21.000 hps was a good idea. They have so many hps that it becomes unenjoyable.. It's not like the other DLC fights where the large health pool is balanced pretty well. In Friede's case, you can stagger her easily and backstab her, in Midir's case you're rewareded if you fight him head on with a huge damage repost, in Gael's case you can stagger him after a certain amount of attacks, letting you be offensive even when he starts a combo. In the Demon Prince's case, it's just a boring slog, with the two demons that also have a big health bar and get repetitive real quick because they have like, 3 attacks each and with the Demon Prince who's a goddamn tank.

It's fun to see how different people's opinions can be. There are so many of these bosses where i have the opposite opinion on the boss. I actually think the Nameless King is underrated, first off, you hear a lot about the difficulty of the boss, but little about the quality, it's a really precise and fun fight. But my main reason is that the King of the Storm gets a lot of hate, but I actually think it's a great fight, it's a nearly perfect gank with you having to watch both the kings to properly dodge attacks, he has a really elegant moveset and goes by very quickly so isn't too frustrating to treck through each time. I can see why some people dislike it since the two phases have a very different tempo to them and it can throw you off, but that's the game testing your adaptability like no other boss, I think both phases are great and have medium difficulty, but putting them together is what makes the fight so hard. As for Gundyr (champion), he's the only boss other than the greatwood that made me angry, and I thought he was insanely difficult, but that was because I didn't understand his hilt attack, I thought he could do it whenever he wanted, but it turns out he only does it after a swipe, a punch, or as an openner, once I figured that out, and I stopped being terrified of the attack, it was a really good fight, still challenging, but fair. If you don't understand that move though, it is pain incarnate.

Having finished 3 two days ago, I think Dancer, Aldrich and Dragon Slayer Armor are my favorite bosses because they were difficult, but I still felt like I was playing within a fair game. Like you said for DSA, it feels like a duel. All three have big attacks, big combos, but they leave windows to attack or maneuver around that feel fair for all builds. Playing an ultra greatsword build, it was annoying for me how many bosses were incredibly fast, had tiny windows for countering or how many were ganks (heck, your footage of you fighting with the twin swords is downright beautiful and alien for my slow butt XD). But with these three bosses, I could dodge and counter, not just dodge for my life and miss all my attacks because they decided to teleport away and start their katas again after 0.005 seconds of reprieve (Twin Princes). On another note, I also found myself liking Midir. I think he's the best co-op boss in FromSoft because his already massive health pool gets enhanced once you summon, so it doesn't feel unfair for you to gank him. Also, the game turns into Monster Hunter as you and your friend have to become a well-oiled machine to dodge, pick your shots and run away as you slowly pick away at his health.

Ds3 was my first game and while I somehow buttonmashed my way through Gundyr, I just could not beat Vordt for hours upon hours. I didn't even know what s were and when I saw this huge monster charging at me I would just panic and die every time on the other side of the spectrum, I beat Abyss Watchers quite easily on my first playthrough, but they just keep giving me trouble every time I replay the game. On my most recent playthrough, I died to them more than to Twin Princess, Nameless King, Friede and Midir COMBINED
