Personally I don’t care about full power, and I don’t care about the range as much. I look for the best descending bike period and if it happens to have the motor I want, great. That’s obviously not realistic for many people. I just want reliability, descending capability, and lightweight e-bikes. And what a world it would be if they didn’t cost so dang much money.

It’s the max power and torque that separate DJI from competition. Weight -wise it’s more like evolution and not revolution: DJI motor (105 Nm) 2.5 kg, EP801 (max 85 Nm): 2.7 kg. Same kind of evolution in battery weight. The low weight of the complete bike is due to Amflow making extremely light frame and using carbon rims etc gaining maximum impact in the media with ”next level” power/weight ratio. This has impact on the bike price. At least I don’t need more power. Lower cost for a lighter bike with 60-85 Nm assist would be welcome

I have watched Steve ride now for several years on this channel and his top move to show the bikes off is an uphill wheelie as he hits a switchback. Notice how he is riding at least twice as far as other videos. He looks like a kid again! In the past that move would suck quite a bit of energy out of him on other e-bikes. On this bike even if the front hits the ground he is right back up again charging the mountain. The bike is obviously brilliant. If DJI offers a strong competitive warranty the bikes will sell fast. I have a specialized and my motor has been replaced, the warranty made all the difference and my opinion of them is still high even with a failed motor for a week.

Glad to see more e-bike motor competition. Although, I am not sure how I feel about e-bikes developing more and more power as I fail to see the reason, at least for myself. My Yeti 160E at 85nm is insane overkill for me (me at 220lbs kitted up), I spend 90% of my time in a slightly boosted eco mode at just over 40nm saving trail mode (which I reduced to 65nm) for short super steep sections and I never feel the need to use boost. It feels so artificial as the power gets higher and not how I personally want to mountain bike. If I want something with mohr power, there are real dirt bikes for that. But hopefully this all leads to much lighter, more efficient systems that rival the power of what is on my 160E and crush it on range.

These are the problems for me: In the end of 2018 (6 years !!) came the Levo S-works with 90nm motor, 700wh battery, 20kg in tubeless setup, so no quantum leap for me with the Amflow. I never want to use the turbo mode when i ride in the hills, because it draws the battery very fast, so i go up slow in eco or trail mode, i do not want to wheelie up the hill. It's like with 700bhp electric cars, you have fun once or twice with the acceleration, but for daily driving you are using like 30-50bhp... Back to the weight: it has carbon rims, EXO and EXO+ tires and other lightweight parts. For a bike the only different to other ebikes are the motor-battery-frame. You can not change these things. And these are lighter like 1-2 kilos to other carbon high power bike, so not that much. But i really like the real fast charger.

Yes it is a bit lighter, a bit more powerful, a bit larger display, gps/lte (has the Bosch Connectmodule too). For me the Pinion MGU is more of a revolution with all its flaws (more weight, noisy). This video hipes the bike too much. In other videos it is said, that the motor can rattle, and in high power mode it has whining noise (but not as much as Bosch or Shimano). And the real weight in size L with 800wh battery is 20,6 kg. But the biggest question is the warranty support. Lets face it, everything can break down and will break down.

If being fastest up the hill was so important, then we'd all currently be riding Rocky Mountain ebikes. Yet RM isn't a particularly big player. So even though DJI has a well-earned reputation, I think it's going to take some considerable time for their motor to become established - unless perhaps they can partner with an established bike brand.

To those claiming this is an ad... Well, creating content isn't free. Like other channels, EMBN needs revenue, and manufacturers need visibility and communication. It's clear to me that EMBN has contracts (partnerships, call them what you will) with various manufacturers. I assume EMBN has negotiated annual agreements with DJI (and other manufacturers). This is a win-win for both. There must be a plan with a precise schedule and a set number of videos, which DJI compensates financially. In return, EMBN benefits from information, trips, and bike tests from DJI, which form the basis for producing the videos. These videos then attract viewers, securing the business. Is the content objective, fair, and honest? I believe it is. EMBN needs to build trust with viewers, and providing inaccurate information would be destructive. Now, as always, it's all about communication. You highlight the good points and not the others. So, there will be more videos about this DJI bike at the most beneficial timing for DJI. This isn't bad at all, and I'm curious to watch them.

Since most eMTB Boffins say you're buying the motor ecosystem, not necessarily the bike itself, if the DJI motor would be available for a Trek, Canyon, Specialized etc., I'd be more excited. Since that'll never happen, and motors like this are doomed to sit in the bike boutique market, average Joe's like me will never see this. It's a shame. Isn't there another boutique motor ZF(?) something that's even smaller, lighter, and more powerful than this? I think the biggest thing to take away from this video/motor is the weight to power ratio. Like most are saying, a lightweight eMTB with the power of a full-fat eBike motor, that's amazing.

There was a statement that the DJI motor will be available for other brands as well in the future, it's just for the start that they come up with their own model, because they were able to test everything better in their own environment. But I don't know about the timeplan, when this is about going to happen and it will also not be any retrofit solution (mounting points don't fit, neither for the motor, nor the batteries), so you defintely need to buy a new bike in any case

With all this power, do they provide a monthly subscription for chains and cassettes?

Auto mode sounds interesting, but I'd be interested in the battery life on this (and on lower settings). It looks great fun, but not sure its entirely for me, its verging on a completely different activity.

Wow, such a beautyfull bike, such a great motor ! Steve, you didn't talk about the résistance of the motor. Is it much friction when passing over the limite of the assist ??

Are any other brands going to use the DJI motor, or is it an AmFlow exclusive?

Great Bike. But what is the max systemweight of this bike? I´m on the heavier side and need a bike with a liitle bit more capacity--- ;-)

This is why I have a Turbo Levo because I’m slightly hefty 😂

It takes a whole 2 seconds to Google that ... "The maximum load capacity is 125 kg, which includes the rider's weight, any additional items being carried, and the weight of equipment mounted onto the frame."

What’s the estimated retail, I would assume 95% of us can only dream about owning something as outstanding as this 😳

Get rid of the carbon frame and bring the price down. 6k is still far too expensive
