29:04 09:35am. Thanks Hamish for your assessment of the Cup Semi. For me, it’s the first time in a long time I felt we were in a proper match! I felt like a proper football fan again - a bit like a champions league match where we never know what’s going to happen. The Adrenalin was flowing, not knowing added to the emotions, Aberdeen deserve lots of plaudits. We won’t look back on this match, we’re in the final, objective achieved. VAR issues, Scales hand ball outside box, free kick. Foul on Johnston, Hoilett went through him, no attempt to play the ball, foul anywhere on the pitch. Hoilett leaning backwards on knees on pitch sees CV going to clear ball, he throws his leg out between CV and the ball? Yes penalty but he was never getting to ball, that option was not there? I think we dissect and over analyse! The pressure and stress on all the players was extreme. Well done to the team for getting to the final and commiserations to the Dons.

Totally agree with your comments, Hamish, and we were very lucky to get the win. We just need to focus on the remaining games and somehow not drop any points. Changes will surely happen in the summer. HH, and keep up the good work. 👍

Scales has had a good season but they two goals we conceded were identical, hes been found out so replacing is a must if we continue with him we'll continue to concede those types of goals

Scales wasn't great but he's objectively been one of our more consistent players. Of note the fact that he was voted by his fellow pros in the pfa team of the year. Yes he got caught out definitely for the second goal ( ccv also for the first) ..but main problem is we don't have a keeper who commands his area. Hart is brutal in this sense.

@@grahamcotter108 as I said he's had a good season I don't deny that at all and the fact he was voted by his fellow pros for the PFA does speak volumes but I believe they should be looking at someone to replace him if not that then someone who will definitely challenge for the spot, goal keeper will be looked at anyways with joes retirement so hopefully there they get someone who can

​@grahamcotter108 nawrocki over scales for the rest of the season, he's slow and takes ages to make decisions with the ball at his feet. Nawrocki in against st mirren made a huge difference to our performance

There are changes needed but people need to remember Aberdeens season depended on this game, we can't just show up and win every game convincingly especially a semi final.

The Aberdeen players have conned their supporters this season. They’ve taken us to penalties and drawn with us at Pittodrie. They’ve also drawn with rangers at Pittodrie and won at ibrox. They are clearly a capable side on their day, so why are they sitting in 9th or 10th place all season? Something doesn’t add up.

Game was full of drama from the first whistle. As good as we are going forward, we lack defensive stability, thank god we have Carter-Vickers back from injury that's for sure. Johnston and Kuhn playing well in that first half, great impact from Forrest as he came on, always loves a goal at Hampden. Clear to me that we need better than Scales and Taylor, also a good replacement for Hart too in the summer. Into the cup final which is all that matters. Bring on the next 4-5 weeks for sure

The scales handball - Hes running and his hand is in a natural position but also with context to that cause freeze frames dont do it justice but hes flicked it onto his hand from close range. Maybe im not fully clued up on the rule but I thought if its in a natural postion and no time to react then its not a foul but again maybe im wrong theres no consistency with these rules atm.

I was at Hampden. It was grim watching Celtic players making so many errors. Job done in the end but it will take a lot more quality to win the league games ahead. The final has to be forgotten about just now. The team must get their quick passing on again...use the wings and get balls in from wide for Kyogo. He had nobody giving him accurate passes into the box, so had limited chances.

Need to work on those weakness points on certin players on the training ground then review the progress. There will be new players being signed for sure next season as players are moved on for what ever the reasons? Would like Joe Hart to stay as a back up keeper just for one more season and think Joe would like one more crack in Europe with the new set up Bhoys. Also, there is no guarentee that the next goalkeeper is upto par ? Remember Barking Barkas lets not leave to fate and have reassurances in place...Just in case? Could we have a league double this season with the Bhoys and Ghirls HH keeping the faith.

Kyogo cant do anything without service. The wingers and midfield constantly miss his runs to the point where Rodgers needs to take the blame for not sorting it out.

If we end up winning the league & cup this season then I think Saturdays semi-final will be seen as our whole season in microcosm. Very poor start, improved a bit in the middle but still lots of deficiencies on show throughout but in the end we showed a bit of mental toughness to get ourselves over the winning line. That's basically our entire domestic season in a nutshell so far.

The CCV/ Hoilliet incident is the one that is similar to Lagerbeilke at Ibrox. CCV is in the action of clearing the ball and the Aberdeen player puts his leg across him not playing the ball. No penalty.

Well titled. The chaos has been there all season. It is time to address the elephant in the room. The performances under rodgers have been disjointed, disorganised, and characterised by lack of conviction. It is impossible to divorce rodgers from the performances, the lack of togetherness, and the abysmal recruitment.

Personally no. And I also didn't expect it last summer either. Posted on several pods comments then saying the whole £30m war chest talk was deluded. We don't spend in net terms. We might this time if we get CL but it won't be a big net spend. Next season's CL is very different and there will be games against some of the lower seeded teams so the board will see that as a chance to do something without splashing cash.

Whats the difference between the dessers incident against celtic and the CCV incident yesterday?. Both incidents the defenders are mid swing and the attackers block the swing without touching the ball. One cant be a foul on the defender without the other.

Kyogo nipped the ball from the Aberdeen player. Scales hand balled it you seen the tv view he was clearly his hand out side the ball just like the keepers will hold the ball in the box while they slide out the box people need to know the rules man the CCV so called penalty shout AJ was clearly barged in the back just watch the game and get on with it ffs....

not a penalty for me. The Dons player inserts his body between ccvs leg after ccv has swung his leg back and has approached from the side. The dons player was stretching and was never in control of the ball, so ccv contact doesnt stop him gaining control of the ball as he was never going to gain control. The player was clever and puts himself between himself and the Swinging leg so ccv cant avoid the contact. Its simialr to the Lager and Dessers incident. Opponent Players are initiating penalties and this has to be outlawed.

"Penalty shootouts are a lottery" is one of the biggest myths in football. Since penalty shootouts were first introduced, the German national team have been involved in 7 shootouts and won 6 of them. They have taken a total of 45 pens and scored 40 of them for an 89% conversion rate. The team that practices them and has a plan for them, is more likely (not guaranteed!) to score them when the pressure is on. It's the same reason golfers practice 3-foot putts and snooker players practice clearing up the colours..... It's the same reason people study for exams or practice for a job interview....... "You can't recreate the pressure" but you can reduce the pressure if you've already proven to yourself that you can do it in practice. There's far more pressure walking up to take a penalty in a cup final/semi final if you've never even hit one in training before!

Totally agree, this explains why the Germans Beat the English in two Big Penalty shoot Outs. In the late 90s Klinsmann was asked why he thought the Germans we're better than the English at penalties and he Said 'the entire Team practised penalties after every Training Session for at least 1 hour'. Andreas Möller's winning Penalty at Wembley to defeat the England at Euro 96 IS my favourite Moment of the entire 90s😅😅

Not that i necessarily disagree with your conclusion but Germany winning 6 of 7 hardly disproves the idea that its down to chance, does it? The chances of a coin turning up heads 6 of 7 is only a bit over 1/18. But there have been lots of other teams 'flipping coins' too so the chances that one of them would return heads 6 of 7 times by sheer chance is commensurately higher. Not very improbable at all!

I truly believe that the odds are greatly in favour of the penalty taker versus the goalkeeper …. that being said , a top flight high earning professional football player should NEVER miss a penalty .

I agree. The germans have lost one penalty shootout, as have argentuna (to germany). Croatia has won 4 from 4. That is not a coincidence. Germany lost the first ever shootout in 1976 to czechoslovakia. My ex girlfriend from dortmund said that all league teams after that in training took ten penalties each, including goalkeepers. It is a skill to be practised. As gary player said, the more I practice, the luckier I get.

I could see your point if the quality of the opposition improved but it hasn't. We have played below ourselves compared to last season and we don't have the same quality in the team but that being said a win is a win and I will take it. We need improvement though for next season.
