We’re currently spending a weekend in Denmark, with the grandchildren. We’ve been struck how friendly people are - including the border police - how well dressed they are and how everything is very efficient. Whilst it is a wealthy country, prices of meals etc are not exorbitant. I’m sure that we will visit again, particularly as the flight from the UK is only just over an hour.

There is a lot to dive into about Denmark that wasn't covered.. But thanks guys for taking a dive, shallow as it may be, into my little slice of heaven.

German here. apart from that 'happiest country' is not really a scientific measured ranking (it measures gdp/capita, social healthcare/welfare, education etc. - but not feelings) taking anti-depressiva and at the same time being happy does not necessarily exclude each other ;)

1. That alam won'r help the Danes against the Germans: last time (and there have been a few others) it took them 4-5 hours to occupy Denmark. 2: Vikings got to Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland but they may not have been Danes. 3: Denmark was NOT a founding member of the EU; they only joined after a 1972 referendum. 4 Dog does NOT come from Old Norse. No-one knows where dog came from; the English used the common Germanic word hound for the canines. 5. Denmark ruled Norway for about 400 years but, after having supported Napoleon, had to give Norway away to Sweden in 1814; almost exactly the opposite of what the narrator said..
