Thank you so much for your story. I am a school psychologist who helps identify students with Dyslexia. I really feel for your story. My husband and step son is actually struggling with a similar issues, my husband with Dyscalculia and my step son has Autism (everything to do with reading and vocabulary, awesome with computers!). After years of convincing (and after he let me go back to college as a 40 yr. old), I talked my husband into quitting carpentry and going back to community college as well (he did get his GED, he reverse engineered enough multiple choice problems to pass but honestly don't know how!). He had previously dropped out to avoid math. He cannot pass the remedial math and I am at a loss on how to help him. He is going to keep trying. My step son gave up as no college would allow him to attend without passing the ACT (graduated due to covid). He is not making good money on you tube! Please don't give up! My mother had a similar issue and was admitted into a Computer Aided Drafter program (may be older people there as well?). Thank you again and wonderful art! ❤

Your creativity and ingenuity has its place in society, don't give up, but given in to your journey... It is the one less traveled but in the end most rewarding. I look forward to reading your book and sharing your story with my son. Thanks again for your openness.

The idea of embracing dyslexia is flawed and it is similar to that of people with high-functioning ASD saying that society should accept autism. When you think about the number of people who suffer because of dyslexia, and those with ASD who will never grow in to useful adulthood embracing a disability is not an option for everyone. Sometimes we need to look to seek remediation; at least to make people functional.

The point of all these interviews and the film is to highlight how many extremely talented people who are being left in the dust by our current education system. We certainly need educational reform and things like this make it truly obvious.
