I have the SE625 machine by Brother which does both regular sewing as well as embroidery and I love it and I have done embroidery for Christmas presents for family and they came out great.

Hi watching from Maine. I have the Brother PE900. The Brother black #900 thread was rats nesting a lot in the machine so I bought Isacord and it works fine. The Isacord came in a large spool that didnt fit the machine so I just sit it in front of machine on the table...that works fine too. Saved time too.

At the bottom right of your workspace, the size of the hoop you chose to work with is noted. double click on the hoop size and it will flip on your workspace. If you were viewing the hoop vertically, it should now be horizontal.

Bernina V9 is very good if you want digitize. I also us Embrilliance is good basic to start with if you want to do a towel etc

Embrilliance has quite a few different software products to choose from at different prices with different features. Really look over the website, as it can be a bit confusing if you're not familiar with what each version comes with. Express Mode is the free version. Essentials is what I have - that one is regularly priced at $149.95. embrilliance.com/start/selectionguide
