This is a brilliant production that aired on PBS. If you can put up the whole thing, it is worth it. The night I listened to it, neighbors from next door were having a dinner party, which I realized only after the end of the first half there was cheering from their balcony. The same moment I let out a "WOW!"

At the Royal Opera in Stockholm. It's so much about compassion and lack of compassion. The boy here - a silent role - was a young actor with Down's Syndrome and he was brilliant.

“This mournful aria happens after Ellen and Captain Balstrode have found the silk outfit that she made for Peter’s boy apprentice washed up on shore... They know that this means that the boy is likely dead, and that the community will blame Peter for it....”

Oh my heavens! It's so nice to have this recording - the only other professional one I can ever find is that one that was made in the 60's - this is a fresh, different interpretation. I'm jealous of you, Taco! I didn't see it live :-(

It sounds like an inspired piece of casting and it must have been a very moving performance.

This is lovely. I would love to see a live performance of Peter Grimes.

a little more spinto on the top than I would like, but the notes are there. Just gets a little thin and pressed.
