Encouraged by your Fragments class I have been gathering old pieces of fabric from my family, when I go to see Mum in Sydney very soon, I am going to get more old and embroidered hankies. I was going to eco dye them, but now I am considering cutting them up as you suggested here. I have also begun looking for old fabrics at estate sales in my area. I've been surprised by the variety available. I'm going to have to be more discriminating in what I buy or I'll run out of room in my art space! Your videos and classes give me so much pleasure, and so many ideas. Thank you for sharing your excitement Francisca!

I have a button tin that has buttons from my mother and grandmothers! But I have never thought of an embroidery tin. I love this idea!

Thank you. I have to a colection of old buttons. I do love buttons. But I collect many other things in tins, love to make collections. So, why not a embroidery ephemera box. So happy you liked the idea.

This is a good idea!! I have some stained pieces that I've picked up at estate sales for dyeing. I'm sure some of them have a bit of embroidery work that can be cut out!

Hey Cecile, I also thought that a great idea. Another tool to have on hand? I love it. Yes, stain some pieces can make them more appealing. I will do that white with pink flowers on the video. 😍😍

I don’t have a lot of embroidered fabrics. But I have a lot of fabrics with floral prints. So I may add embroidery to some flowers on my fabric and cut them out. Such a fun idea.

I don't have amazing things like you do, but I took some of my old clothes that have flowers on them and currently using the running stitch method (sashiko thread) started to go around the flowers and it's coming out so good! I am happy with the look and texture....! This video inspired me to look at my junk clothes differently. Thank you Francisca, this is a fun video.

That is a great idea. I will try that too. So many possibilities. Yes, I have gathered these clothes because I loved the pattern of the flowers, and for some reason, I knew I would use them. When I saw Rachel's lesson, I said, oh I have them. We really look to our clothes differently, when we no longer will use them. 😊😊😊😊

Are you cutting into the embroidery? If so how do you keep it from unraveling. I have some that are unraveling. Not sure how to fix it. Thank you so much

Hi Kim, I let a margin of fabric around the embroidery so that does not unrave. Can you use some hand stitch to secure the embroidery of fall of the tissue?

I have not any embroidered fabric. So sorry. To expensive to buy all this stuff.

Oh, not worrie, this is just an idea for those who have clothes or any other fabrics they can repurpose. This is not a supply we need, but an idea to be inspired of. Not even to buy of course. We can always draw, paint, and use cut paper flowers. Here the idea was to give an extra tool and a new idea.

I pick mine up from the charity shop very cheaply for a dollar or less. I hope that helps 😊
