Hi Terry, Thank you so much! I could have a long conversation with you about this (which we can do privately, of course 😊😊), but I just want to say how important and supportive your comment is, and what a difference it makes. THANK YOU. 🧡🧡 Once, during one of my free courses-yes, "FREE"-I received a comment from a lady who said it was difficult to understand my accent, that she had to rewatch several times, and that I repeated myself, making it a waste of time. I knew it wasn’t my problem, and my tribe has always welcomed me and my accent warmly. But it intrigues me when I see how some people consume our content, savor it, and yet still feel entitled to say mean things. I love constructive feedback, as I’m an avid learner, always eager to improve. But I couldn’t help but wonder: does this lady speak more than one language? Well, Terry, no more words needed. I could go on and on, but I just want to say again: THANK YOU. 😘😘😘

@lesliehoyt3 ай бұрын
This is so great! Thank you! Any hints on what kinds of papers have been good to use?
@FranciscaNunes3 ай бұрын
Thank you, Leslie. That’s a great question, and I didn’t refer to it as much in the video. I think I only mentioned the tracing paper with the Gelli print of poppies. Regular copy paper is great; it’s strong enough to stitch, and when wet, it breaks easily. I use copy paper with the poppy prints. The other paper is tracing paper, which has an interesting texture. Since it has a Gelli print with the plastic of the acrylic paint, it was damaged differently, and the end result isn’t as faded as you might see in the video. Overall, thin papers that you can stitch are better because they crumple more easily.

You made me wish for a sewing machine for Christmas! I really want to try this BUT make the stitching more irregular so go at diagonals and widening out from a single point on each side... and instead of gesso what would it look like if i coated in a LOT of pva glue, can i use the hlue to fill the gaps with a transparent film? How would this look glues to a canvas and then paihted over to give incredible texture.. you make me want to experiment and play! But i know my brain and i will have forgotten about this by the time i have enough money for a sewing machine.. do you think this could be sewn by hand?
@FranciscaNunes2 ай бұрын
I love your enthusiasm and ideas for experimenting! The irregular stitching sounds like it would create such a dynamic effect, especially if you're working from a single point on each side. As for using PVA glue, it could definitely add an interesting transparent texture-worth trying for sure! Hand-sewing is absolutely possible if you don't have a machine, and it would give it a unique touch. Can't wait to see how you explore these ideas! Keep playing and having fun with it! 😊

@FranciscaNunes2 ай бұрын
Hi Debbie, Thanks for your question! I usually use a stitch length of about 1 to 2 cm (approximately 0.4 to 0.8 inches) when creating paper netting. This spacing creates a nice texture without being too tight, but feel free to experiment with shorter or longer stitches for different effects! Happy crafting!
