Yes please! I'd love a part 2~ And if you could, can you look at some of the plot holes? I've a friend who keeps saying that it has giant plot holes and that the story doesn't make sense, and I can't really... see them? 😅🤣 It might be because of nostalgia, but I've tried to think back at stuff that doesn't add up but can't think of any (I really should ask her what she means, lmao).

FF7 has a trippy story, but I wouldn't say it has a lot of plotholes. I'll def discuss the story in depth in that second video. Thanks for watching! :D

Have you ever checked out Nihon Falcom's "Trails of" series? Not to be confused with Bandai Namco's *"Tales* of" series... I've been checking them out this summer because I noticed I tend to like games with deep lore and world building, which the Trails of series has in spades. Not to mention politics, like you mentioned in this video. It's not exactly the same, but the Quartz system they use can easily be compared to the Materia system that FF7 uses, too. Heck, some of the games in the series even have a Motorcycle, and Snowboard segments. Although I've been making FF7 comparisons, it'd be unfair to go into them expecting a FF7 clone though. The Trails of games have their own different, but tightly knit gameplay systems that helps them stand out, I feel. Any JRPG fans should check them out and give them a shot, especially since recently they've been doing a big push to localize all the games into English, onto modern platforms that they weren't on already, and expect to have every game covered by the end of 2023. I'd say the biggest downfall (which could be considered a positive with the right mindset) is that the whole series is one long connected story. You either have to start with Trails of Sky, or Trails of Cold Steel, depending on how far back you're willing to go. The fans seem to think starting with Sky is the best choice though. Anyway, this video was about FF7, which I feel Emcee covered pretty well. It's why I made the connection and wanted to try and share the series I've been getting into. And yet, despite having so many hours of JRPG to go through as it is, this video made me think about going back and revisiting the OG FF7, even if it might not be anytime soon. I'd be glad to see a Part 2!

I personally thought that problem with materia system was that its benefits and punishments were pretty miniscule to affect general gameplay. -+1.0 % on stat, even with several materias, is not that big punishment/benefit. Perhaps in low-level challenges these things showcase their effects better but materia system certainly required some extra tweaking.
@EmceeProphIt2 жыл бұрын
I agree. It's not a very deep system in terms of weighing costs and benefits, but it is a fun toy to mess around with.

Part 2? Yes, I would definitely be interested in another video with more of your thoughts and insight into the game. It's ashamed the core original version of the game hasn't gotten a glow up. Especially since the Remake is, well, it's something else it seems.

HOORAY! I'm so glad you decided to give FFVII a playthrough. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and it means a whole lot to me. Something I can definitely appreciate is how different things spoke to me at different times in my life. Of course, as a kid, I loved playing as all these cool characters with badass weapon designs, casting powerful spells and rad Limit Breaks. Later in life, the bond between the little band of misfits you follow on this journey meant more and more to me, and now as an adult, I'm more aware of the messages both subtle and overt the story carries. And if you want to make a Part 2, by all means, please do 👀

Legit, one day I'm waiting for the day where you go "Hot take, is the game good? ...No?" Followed by 16 minutes and 53 seconds of credits. Edit: I would also love a part 2 on this. FF7 has a lot of depth, and due to the "New version" coming out it's more relevant than ever.

I'd personally like some analysis of the characters, see if you can't find anything interesting people missed about their personalities or something. My favorite character has always been Red XIII. I love all of them, but Nanaki is by far my favorite and I wish he got more love. There aren't many characters like him. The only game, or series, I can think of off the top of my head that has characters like him is the Suikoden series, like 2 and 3 especially. But even then not... extensively like him.

Later on in the story of BNHA there's a lot more emphasis on how society treats those who cannot properly conform to society's standards, using quirks as an analogy for a lot of things that keep people from being traditional members of society. Not getting the help they need, how capitalism ruins everything, etc.

I actually agree, now that I'm further into the series and am reading the manga. War arc is crazy good.

This is my favorite Final Fantasy. First, because it was my introduction to the franchise and secondly, as you pointed out, the themes are as relevant today as they were in 97 and now I'm depressed. Anyways, a part 2 would be the radness.

Still don't have faith I could beat this one if the only jrpg type of game I can complete is Miitopia. Even though all you can control in combat is what attack your personal mii uses(yeah all party members besides you are on perma autoplay) unless you're on autoplay(I have so little faith in myself that I do this.). Would love to see a part 2 tho.

Well, when I heard that the remake actually wasn't a remake I decided to play the original instead. It was my first playthrough a few years ago, so no nostalgia bias. It was pretty good I would say, nothing life changing as some people who played it as a kid put it, but cool story and game. It is perfectly playable and enjoyable and the themes, narrative and presentation doesn't feel outdated at all, I wouldn't say it has aged badly in these aspects. My major complaints would be the annoying minigames, bad balancing in some points and the english translation, it is pretty poor at times and the retranslation to other languages (spanish is my reference) is unbearable, it could have won a lot of points with a cleaner translation like Xenogears.

Good video. I'd say FF7 holds up very well for the scope and empathy of its story alone. You rarely see compassionate storytelling in games like this; as earnestly grand and melancholic - except FFVI and FFIX, I guess. But they were so many years apart.
