What really makes this song amazing is that it leaves it up to the listener to interpret it. To some, it is about a husband, others a son, and even others about Jesus. Whatever she is originally singing about does not matter. What matters is that this song was so expertly written that nearly anybody can relate to it and have their own personal meaning in it.

My late great friend said to me one time something that I'll never forget. She said this song reminds me of you and as powerful as this song is it made me realize how special our companionship was and it let me know that I was loved and appreciated. I absolutely loved and adored her to the fullest capacity a heart and soul can bare. We both had severe addictions to opioids and when you live the life of an addict it is total hell 75 percent of the time and the other 25 percent is a very distorted heaven. We held on to each other through these dark times and tried to make light of our situation as much as possible but our addictions both horrifyingly progressed and we fell apart. Not too long after we quit seeing each other and speaking the girl I so adored passed away and there is not any word nor symbol that can express how ultimately crushed I was. She passed away 7 years ago and my life is still troubled but it is ultimately good and yet I still receive grace. I do not feel this is fair and that she should still be her but I have to accept the acceptance. She was the most beautiful blonde headed, ocean eyed girl in the world and she always will be. She had talents that she never knew she could access that I could clearly see, her personality was competent and strengthening. Sweet and genuine. Hilarious and goofy and just simply lovely.
