Truly incredible. If I had an EMEO 30 years ago, I’d be 5x the player that I am today. By far, the most important tool in my arsenal. I use mine every day.

I love my EMEO. I was an early adopter and can safely say that I am a better player because of it. It allows me to play at the house when everyone else is asleep or trying to rest/study. Plus, the people who run the company are super nice and have been very helpful when I ran into issues.

Thanks for the update video. It’s always good to hear that something you showed us a while back is still, not just working for you, but also improving. I got my Emeo, based mostly on your past review. My own story is that I was returning to the sax after a 3-4 year break and the Emeo was so critical to my redevelopment that I can honest say that I’m I better player than I was before my hiatus. Very grateful to you and this company that really made a prefect practice instrument.

My Emeo came with 2 necks, and I epoxyed them together to make one longer neck, really made a big difference for my playing comfort. While I have a good practice room for my tenor, so don't need the emeo on a daily basis, I did need it earlier this year when I got some facial paralysis after a dental incident ] : At that time the emeo was the only thing I could actually play and I realized that when I get really old that might be true again so I'm hoping that the Emeo remains relevant and updated as the years go by. Love your channel Jay

I’ve had my EMEO for over 2 years now and it’s a game changer. I don’t use it every day, but when I can’t practice at night, I use it. It’s the closest thing to a real saxophone in terms of feel. Paired with SWAM, the sax sound is as close as you’ll get and it’s enjoyable. I wish there was a soprano/EMEO and/or Tenor/EMEO combo case. I like to bring it on trips, but carrying 2 cases is cumbersome. I guess I’d have to have something custom made.

I have been playing this beautiful instrument for around a year now - almost daily. I've hooked it to my iPhone 7 loaded with SWAM tenor and bring in backing tracks off my iPad through a small 3 channel mixer. My playing has lifted dramarttically as I no longer feel restrained by the sound level kicked out to my neighbours from my saxes. My only mild frustration is the tonguing using the standard alto mouthpiece. I struggle to get the speed up as noted by an earlier responder. Any tips ?

My needs: I have an iPad (iOS 16) with camera connection kit I want to connect emeo with iPad to play with music apps (swam/emeo). I want to use uhost for the emeo to iPad connection. I don’t understand if uhost must be connected to the iPad or to the emeo (I believe the first). Or if I need two separate widi to create the connection I am able to connect widi to iPad and swam recognize it as midi input, but the emeo doesn’t communicate with the app. Please help me describing the step by step procedure. I really hope you can help me in this issue. Thank you so much for your help Best, Filippo

I’ve imagined getting a model like this o e for nearly 30 years since I was 16 in September 1996 and first heard another student musician playing a Casio digital sax. As of April 2024, I’ve got one or two saxophones that I hardly play and multiple synthesizers; this model probably would make a great bridge between the two worlds. Wouldn’t it also be a great tutorial device?

(Thankfully I am back to playing the real sax, however, who knows when BP might strike again) Would you say the EMEO, used with SWAM is stage worthy or is it better as a practice instrument? Also, could you so a video with some guidance on what exactly SWAM or other software packages are and how you play the instruments "through" them? Thanks for all you do!

Great review and lead on the Widi Uhost. You mention using your computer with the Emeo but did not discuss using an iPad or iPhone with the Widi and the Emeo. I was wondering whether you or anyone figured out whether you can use the combination Widi/Emeo/Ipad or iPhone with headphones. The new iPads have the USB-C charging but no headphone jack. I am trying to play backing tracks on my iPhone/iPad while I play the Emeo but want to use headphone that do not have any latency (which is why I want to use an iPad with a headphone jack).

In Jays original he said a short coming was the length of the neck. I got an EMEO and figured that I could use a regular alto neck grafted on to one of the necks that came with the EMEO, which worked better than I thought. I just wrapped the EMEO neck with cork and it just so happened to fit exactly for a pressure fit into the cheapest neck I could find on line. I also found out why EMEO did not ship with a longer neck, the connection between the neck and the instrument is not strong enough to not wobble unless you hold your head VERY steady. I also got use to length of neck that comes with the EMEO.
@juanignacio13043 ай бұрын
Hey! How are you? How was your experience with the normal alto neck? I was thinking on doing the same. It wobbles too? I printed out a 3d neck that is as long as a regular neck and i have that problem, cause the conection with the emeo is not as strong as for example the really short straight neck that comes with it

I had one and was quite disappointed, and sent it back. I felt the tonguing response was unacceptable. I was specifically wanted it to practice sheet music (Beethoven's 9th for concert band, the Bari part) and I felt with the faster moments (especially the fugue in the 4th movement) it just didn't respond fast enough to tonguing to give me the practice with articulation I needed (in lieu of shlepping a Bari sax on my travels). This was using a cable and a laptop. Because it just did not work that well, I ended up just taking my Alto on the trip I took to Hawaii instead, and that was okay. So maybe for soloing or jamming this may work well, but if you are trying to learn sheet music parts with shorter tongued notes, it does not work acceptably. Too bad because I really wanted it to work.

I’ve never played a real sax … can I learn how to play with this or do I need the real deal? Do you actually blow into it or is it just fingerings? I like the one comment about someone practicing in their car… maybe I should buy a cheap sax and learn in the car instead?
@JazzKybds783 ай бұрын
Honestly. You could start at either. The learning process would remain the same. It might depend on which you plan to play on in the future. Starting on the EMEO might say in the future hinder being able to quickly switch between midi or live. So Depends on where you want to start and I personally think there is going to be a resurgence in the midi electronic wind market possibly in future music the same way the keytar had its day to shine. Midi wind instruments haven't truly been able to shine in the spotlight yet. But either way I'd say whichever one you want to play long term, learn on that one. You can pick up a 'cheap' practice sax from many places for around $200-300 or even less. Although the higher end brands go for significantly more. I think if there is a quick track desire, however, to getting good specifically with the EMEO, or another midi wind instrument, picking it up and learning it before acoustic would posses no issues at all since they are each their own specified fingering and your body will work strictly on muscle memory over time to play the keys. Anyhow, best of luck and hope you enjoy the journey!
