Emerald Shiner Streamer - Short Shank Version

I have noticed that there's a huge difference between brown trout and rainbow trout when it comes to hook placement. Brown trout often hit the streamer multiple times before they commit. I seem to properly hook rainbows more often with an intruder and brown trout with a short shank hook. Would have to see it in the water when swinging the fly.

Migratories doing a lot of curiosity nipping which is why the Intruder style of fly is so effective. What I've found though is that they will hook up on a long wing/short hook style fly if it is a realistic pattern like my Brown Trout Weamer. I've talked about it in other videos where browns and smallmouth use the stun strike approach. Hit or bite the head then swallow. Short hooks are ideal for this.
