I never knew you could use a dubbing directly on wire. But I’m always learning from your videos since I started tying a year ago. Mega Thx Davie !

Fantastic Davie I always found the okey dokey was very effective on rainbow trout waters when the river season closed thanks from Ireland

I have Okey Dokeys in a range of sizes down to #18 for grayling. With a wide range of head colours. Any fluorescent including pink, non fluorescent colours including black. Even using tinsels solid or holographic works. The white body with black head #12/18 I find well worth a go from a week after lambs are born into early summer near feeder streams after a shower of rain the carrion from dead lambs often has a skinny white maggot feeding off them. After rain they get washed into the streams, then rivers and lochs. Bonus for fish and anglers

Veevus white tread has U/V and really flows very white, which would work well for the Okey Dokey. Thanks for the video.

Stranger fishing along, sees you catching fish: “Watcha using?” You: “Okey Dokey.” Stranger: “Didn’t ask how you were. Wanted to know what fly.” You: “Okey Dokey” Stranger walks away muttering to himself: “Must be a secret fly.” ;-) Nice set of flies. Thank you.

I may try to find substitute materials to scale these down and try one or two of them here in the states. The midge pupae I see around here are considerably smaller, almost always size 20 or less.

Could you create a tapered underbody with UTC 280/140 then cover it with the floss? I’d hate to use so much floss on a single fly. I create an underbody on all my buzzers to avoid using so much thread each time. Once it’s sealed in resin it’s fine. I can only imagine the brightness of the floss might be effected yet if I used white underbody it shouldn’t have a negative effect.

Is it possible to tie a fly that will catch sea trout in say Denmark and catch brim in the Southeast United States? I realize a Wooley Bugger would suffice, but I'm looking for something smaller and not necessarily a streamer fly.🤷🏼♂️ just curious

Do you fish it by itself or use it with tandom rigs?

Hi. What varnish are you using?
@DavieMcPhail28 күн бұрын
Hi @BoulderHikerBoy,, I use Veniards clear varnish, I have attached a link to it for you to see..I also use their thinners and if you buy a couple of them it will make it last a very long time before you need to buy another.. Hi @66bigbuds, When I worked at the fishery I lost count of how many of these flies I tyed over the years as it was very popular with many..The main reason for not tying them since is that I just haven't fished the small fisheries much since I left around 2003 . But if I was going to fish over the winter months then I would certainly tye a few up for those days when things go a little quiet as it was certainly a fish catcher back then so I'm sure it would fish just as well now.. All the very best Davie
