I don't think people understand how much of a difference a kind and caring doctor and nurse can make. It's scary being all alone and just having someone else speak calmly and hold your hand can make a huge difference.

I love the Australian people! Not just because you gave us Rick Springfield! This show and Bondi Lifeguards and Bondi Vet the same feelings i get are such compassion, integrity, kindness to each other and of course the accents (i live in Iowa...accents are hard to come by😮) However, i CAN NOT get your intro song out of my head! All day, every day! Which causes my to speak with an accent and call my kids "mate!) God bless you each and everyone!

Those piercings that Michael had -- in the U.S., they'll use cutters to remove them. I know a few doctors who've done emergency medicine, and a couple have said they see some gnarly facial injuries from the piercings when they've been in car/motorcycle accidents.

I’m in the US & have been in trauma/emergency medical care for 15+ yrs, On the ambulance or in a Trauma 1 hospital… & I agree that I have seen piercings especially facial ones cause more damage as u said, But I strongly disagree w/u about going in just cutting them out bc its not just simple get 1 cutter snip it done. there’s multiple tools & it is waste of time, manpower could be spent doing more important things! We always try get patient get them out if thats not possible then we just try quickly take them off as ur supposed to do!! I do LOVE to watch this though & see how things are done differently in their hospitals

A few years ago i shattered my heel and severley damaged the muscels and nevers and tendons in my ankle and lower leg. Also had damage to my organs and my kidneys were failing I was in ICU for 2 weeks . They gave me alot of fentanyl, hydromorphone, and lorazepam and because i am very opioid tolerant, (was already presribed strong opiods for years) all the pain medicine just wasnt doing anything. I remember screaming in pain begging them for more fentynal. Eventually they couldnt give me more . And i was still writhing. Then this saint of an anesthesiologist reccomended a nerve block in my leg. The made this hole above my knee and put a catheter needle down to the nerve using ultrasound and gave me a constant infusion of nerve block. It was the biggest releif of my life. My pain was instantly gone. I finally could sleep and not be in excruciating pain. Was such a miracle at the time. I was actually losing it until he gave me that .

or make sure there's always a wheel underneath the car, next to the jack... if the jack fails, the wheel will catch the car, removing the chances of you getting stuck underneath (and less damage to the car) plus it creates to space to reset the jack and get the car back up again... my FIL taught me how to change a tire: get the spare wheel + jack ready, loosen the nuts, jack the car up, place the spare underneath, remove nuts & wheel... put wheel underneath car, remove spare from underneath and place it on the hub... put nuts back on and tighten them as far as possible, lower car, remove jack & wheel, and tighten the nuts further... (the wheel-underneath-car trick is now slowly being introduced in driving lessons where I live since it's proven to reduce injuries & even deaths from jack-collapses... guess my FIL is ahead of the trend since he taught my husband that trick over 20 years ago)...

It's the design fault. Trauma Centre to CT is a long hall. I was with my friend who had a stroke and they wheeled him down a corridor which seemed like forever just to get to CT and back to ED. Theres and awful lot of space that could fit emergency CT and MRI rooms.

It's TV editing. The door of the CT scanner is about 10 seconds walk from the resus/trauma corridor. I work there.

I enjoy this show too I watch all the way from Canada but I find it so amazing. How wonderful they treat the patients. You're not a number. You're a name and they're so good with the patients. And they all seem to have such a good sense of humor there's nothing nobody so stressed that drives the show in bad direction. I love it

Very enjoyable show. A weird observation of evolving human behavior, how even in emotional situations like this a mom will grasp a cell phone like a life life preserver. No matter how much it gets in the way. Guess I'm old enough to hold onto my purse in the same way (except it holds my phone and other essentials). Think it's becoming a pet peeve to me that people have grown so addicted to even the touch of a phone in their hand.

Just wondering why they didn't do an xray on the full arm to begin with. They would have seen the dislocated elbow and save him a lot of agony. Also, why did Dr Terry not do the block himself? That was a major oversight 😮

In the U.S. they very rarely keep anyone overnight. Between my husband and I we've had some pretty intense emergency visits. They give you a check over, get you out of the worst pain, pat you on the head and send you home. Thanks health care

Most of the Aussie motorcycle accidents seen in A&E seem to involve really high speeds. Are there speed limits in Australia? Why do people need to go so fast? Thank goodness for great A &E Drs!!😮😮

Definitely are speed limits; but don't forget it is in km/h not mph. So 60km/h is around 37mph I think? Not quite sure. In towns ins 50km/h, most highways are 100km/h, some highways and motorways are 110km/h But bikes are pretty well know for not following speed limits.

Speed conversion for most areas; School zones - 40 kmh / 25 mph Suburban - streets 60kmh / 37 mph Highway - 100kmh / 62 mph Rural highway - 110kmh / 68 mph Rural areas are usually not patrolled as often so more people will speed.

The young lad with suspected broken neck, I'm a little confused. WHen the Ambo's were doing handover they said others had started CPR , but when the patient regains breathing monitor and wait . I wonder was he still breathing after collapsing and CPR was started. You should never do CPR while somone is still breathing. Someone can collapse and have shallow breathing. I'm so glad he's okay now. I can't imagine what the parents went through. I was even crying.

Fairly standard, even in 2024 there are cases of Covid, so it’s a case of prevention. Better than catching something nasty, even from other bodily fluids
