@deannadolan51192 жыл бұрын
@@KitagumaIgen we have the capacity to change as individuals because we can choose to look inward at our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. We can look at how we undervalue ourselves and how that leads to the limiting beliefs about ourselves and others. Our personal power is recognizing these patterns then taking action to show up for ourselves better so we can then show up for each other better - that's accountability. Sometimes people lie because they are avoiding their own feelings due to the pain associated with those emotions (guilt/shame). And sometimes that pain is so deep that the feelings automatically shut off - a survival coping strategy born from emotional trauma. Sometimes people lie because they logically understand that their actions are socially/culturally unacceptable and their need for external validation is so high that they fear rejection if they acknowledge their behavior. If they lack empathy this only exacerbates the issue. It's a complex issue as it requires individuals to have the capacity and desire to question how we unintentionally contribute to these issues.

American here. In high school at the start of term, I was reading a book about England and a girl (I might have had a *wee* crush on her) asked why I was reading it... I said (with a sliiight English accent) that I was from England originally. She thought that was cool and wanted to know all about England, but then I was stuck talking in this accent in that one class. Luckily a friend of mine sat next to me and he kept up the illusion with me. Keep in mind, I was doing a very generic London-ish accent and not very strong so maybe no one else would notice (I did grow up in NEW England and said some words strangely, anyway). During school break, I was at the mall with my mom... we were in a store and that girl came in. I told my mom (who is an actor), "Don't ask why but we need to be from England, okay?" Well, I tell you, the over-the-top, Liza Doolittle from Act I accent that came out of my mom's mouth could be heard all the way in London! 🤣 I nearly died. Luckily the girl bought it and waved at me, then we left the store quickly. Faking my death would have been the next logical step.

Hi Julie, thanks for another lovely video, always enjoying your content! Figured you might want to know - Established Titles is essentially a company off of Hong Kong set up in 2020 and ripping off Highland Titles authentic business practices with none of the benefit to the preservation on Scottish Highlands. You can read more if you look up "Established Titles Buyer Beware". They also used names like Northern Titles, Historic Titles and Esteemed Titles and so on. They claim that they plant trees but it's just a claim that they donate part of the funds to One Tree Planted / Trees For The Future. They do not do any conservation work in Scotland, have no presence here and if you'd like to support these efforts you'd be much better off supporting Highland Titles or similar charities who provide actual tour experience, are based in Scotland and operate authentically and for decades. I know that these things are often obscure and it wouldn't have been a deliberate choice on your part but I figure I could ask you to reconsider supporting these businesses with shady practices and diverting your audience from funding these misleading enterprises. Cheers!

Jules, that is the best Scottish accent ever!!!! Well done!

As a Scottish bloke, her accent isn't very accurate but it is a good effort.

So she doesn't sound like a genuine Canadian Highlander?

Wow, the whole thing was a lead in to the commercial at the end - brilliant!

Love this one! Funny, clever, no clumsy sex references, and great job on the accent!

Damn Julie, that's a great Scot accent. BTW I've been a Scottish "Lord" for a few years now, by way of your sponsor this week. Someday I may actually go to Glen Coe again, and look at my square foot. (I wasn't a Lord when I was there before.)

I'm not a Scot myself, I'm not even a native speaker but I do appreciate some good accents and this one I really enjoyed. Seriously though in my opinion the Scottish accent is one of the most difficult to convincingly pull off. I can do a convincing British one, I can do a convincing Irish one, I can even do a cliché American South accent but Scots, that's just too much for my tongue to pull off.

What a delightful skit and I just loved the dilemma, the debate and the ability of Julie to carry the accent. I will confess that right up to the moment of reveal I had the thought she would look up and cried out, Canadian. Oh I would have had a coffee spew on that one. Chinese was a good second and I loved that we were going to be held in suspense as to how good/bad it was. Fantastic work.

If it were me, you could be honest. You would have to use that sexy Scottish accent every once in a while, but we would be all good.

How is it possible that this was the best one yet? Again! It was better than great (that last word in heavy Scottish accent).

I bought many of these established titles as gifts in years past! But I never one for myself. So I guess I am part of the kingdom? We should have a flag right?

I lived in Scotland for 2 years, and the only Scotts I picked up was "Hiya!" (which I hate the sound of), but the really strange thing is, my inner monologue was totally in a Scottish accent. People would ask me something like, "Do you want to come out tonight?" and my mind would say, "Och Aye!" but my mouth would say, "Aww Yeah". I almost felt like I had multiple personality disorder.

hahah you are fabulous, I love these so much. I don't know if you've already done one or not, but if not I'd love to see a BTS video of you creating one of these skits, to show your process for setting up lighting, props, editing, all of it.

Julie is so awesome. If SNL really turned her down, their loss. The mirror-alter-ego sessions are classics, that alone puts Julie way out there, but COVID episodes and this are genius-level material. She is wayyy under-rated.
