Hi there psych major here :)) the types of parenting styles that Enya was referring to at 33:37 are Permissive, Authoritative, and Authoritarian! Permissive parenting is very much relaxed, “i’m my child’s best friend”, setting very little to no boundaries, kind of parenting. Authoritative parenting is when a parent sets clear boundaries with their child, allows them to have some freedoms, and lets them know gentely but firmly when things are wrong. Authoritarian parenting is the complete opposite of Permissive; no freedom, “my child is not my equal, they are my property” and typically feature a lot of groundings/punishments. Permissive and Authoritarian parenting creates children who either never learn to set boundaries and become wild children or grow to fear adults/authorities and will either lash out or completely shut down.
