when it went off for covid lockdown, it come through my headphones at FULL VOLUME. my fucking ears... whenever mum gets it now she always warns me and vis versa (there's normally a difference in timing of about 30 seconds to a couple minutes) so we don't get our ears blown off.

The errrr part in the American emergency alert is a data burst it contains important information such as where the emergency is in which state/county and what the emergency is and you can't exactly use that on mobile devices also it's repeated three times to make sure it gets through.
