This is a pure financial decision, Mike. Being an Aggie fan, I understand keeping Billy. Laying out $55+ Million AND going back to Year One (while having to budget $25 Million yearly to athlete payouts) is TOO MUCH to absorb. Hemorrhaging money for another Jimmy Sexton money-grubber doesn’t make business sense. Give Billy a fourth year.

It was always clear to me that Florida had a lot of firing and hiring to do before they could get an A-List coach. Hire a good AD and President and then castrate the UAA. Also, next years schedule is probably a deal killer for many prospective coaches.

If revenue sharing is passed then there is no money for buyouts for coaches. Florida is likely waiting for that decision to see if they will have the revenue money to pay. Coaches contracts likely won’t have buyouts anymore

In all fairness, Florida had the most difficult schedule in the country. The Gators going 4-4 through 8 games with severe QB issues is halfway impressive. Napier deserves ONE more chance. My opinion.

Most coaches get "outcoached" every season. A lot of coaches lose a game or 2 by more than they should. With the transfer portal, Florida has a chance to flip the script in 1 off season. Sheeeesh.
