Emergency repair on a dropped Acer Chromebook

Well, the owner of this laptop *did not heed my warning* that this repair was temporary, to buy some extra time for them to get a replacement. This machine was brought back to me today, this time with a burning smell and a crushed USB-C end on the power adapter. Although I will take a second look, I've pretty much already condemned this machine. When a tech tells you a repair is a temporary repair to buy you some time, that means the repair is *not guaranteed* and in this case, the best option would be to promptly replace the machine. Surprised they got an additional year out of it.

i have a acer laptop from 2010 with screw up hinge & charger port

well that sucks, fortunately it wasn't a more expensive laptop, last time i broke a laptop hinge, i ended up having to use industrial adhesive to glue the hinge down before i got it replaced.
