That, and when the granddaughter asked if Worf’s face was the last thing her grandfather saw, it’s a lie. Dakota’s face was the last thing he saw.
@Salsuero4 жыл бұрын
@@mena94x3 That depends on what you want to believe. It's possible that he saw Worf's face last and died without his eyes having closed while his head fell to the side in a position facing Dakota. Since this wasn't an actual death, and it wasn't really acted to perfection in order to be convincing of anything, one can imagine anything one likes. You can imagine that he was still alive and Dakota was his last visual. Or you can imagine what I suggested as an alternative. The real question is... was the character the one looking at Dakota and smiling... or was the actor? Because I'm pretty sure that smile was a character break... and if so... it doesn't qualify as "accurate" to the intended scene.

Well, that's kind of the essence of situation comedy--the writers create a situation, and the comedy evolves from it. The problem with this sketch--and aren't we being cute by saying there's only one?--is that it's entirely self-referential for the writer. Whoever it was thought it would be hilarious if Worf, a character who famously struggled to empathize with humans in spite of his upbringing, from a race that consider medicine a crutch for the weak, was an ER physician. As far as absurdist setups go, it isn't the worst one ever, but its probably pretty close. I'm a lifelong Trek fan with a fair amount of knowledge and enjoyment for the source material, and I wouldn't go near a convention if you paid me because those people tend to be nitpicky deep lore fascists that suck all the fun out if it because to them, it's better to think they're right than enjoy what they love. What would've had far more potential is a skit where an impeccably costumed Worf at a convention constantly lets down other fans by knowing nothing about it, just saying he's there for his wife. Again, more POTENTIAL--as Paul F. Thompkins rightly points out in his stand-up, if something is inherently funny, it is relatable after the fact. But this? This isn't something you could tell other people about the next day at work, like Kate McKinnon's character in the UFO abduction skits, e.g..This is just a desperate, anemic attempt at homage from a writer unable to recognize that Worf hasn't had pop culture traction for about 20 years, so the frame of reference is nonexistent for pretty much the entire audience.
