I am responding to a video from 5/15/2018 Evelynn rushed to the hospital. For what it's worth, as soon as I heard her say her arms were numb I thought she is too young to have a panic attack. I was an ER nurse for many years. Numbness is often related to anxiety, poor baby. I hope she is doing better with her anxiety issue. Love your channel and family!

When I was very little I had the same breathing treatment done. I’’m praying for you Evelyn I promise that it will be all ok so do not stress it was just how your body reacted to what happened so it was just one time. All my thoughts go out to you Evelyn! And god is with you.

That poor little girl, she's too young to be going through those problems. I sure hope she gets better. It could also be the pollen since the growing season has started. Tree pollen has been bad here in Philadelphia Pa, but Thank God it's been raining. Prayers for the little one. God Bless.

Glad she is doing better! I sure remember those days, my youngest son was the nurse's best customer in elementary school. As he got older he wasn't as anxious about things. Hang in there mom, and dad! Prayers and blessings to you all.

My prayers are with Evelyn, I know how she feels, I deal with anxiety sense I was a child. Ìt's a hard thing to go though ; But you can get though it. There is medication that she can take, If you want to go though that. There's different ways to work though anxiety. The best thing todo is to see her Doctor. Love you guys XOXO so much. Godbless your beautiful family.

Not to diminish her feelings at all, it sounds like she got stressed and then had trouble managing her breathing. That is not unusual when we are stressed, poor thing. Bless her little heart and God bless you too Mama! And we are so thankful for big sister Audrey's help! I love your family!

Poor miss Evelynn! After having a reaction to random food before, I'm not surprised she panicked, feeling like you can't breathe is terrifying. As someone who has had anxiety literally my entire life, please don't say things like "You aren't allowed to freak out like that again." It's not a choice, and if she's struggling, she might feel like she can't tell you because you'll be upset with her. Or that she's "bad" because of how she's feeling. There's also nothing wrong with professional help, I had to wait until I was an adult to get it, and I really wish my parents had taken me sooner. Sending your whole family a hug :)

I agree! You never want to tell a child that. They might think that they shouldn’t come to you with there problems because there not allowed to. Then if they have a real medical problem you going to have issues. I didn’t tell my parents about many of my physical symptoms as a child because I felt they weren’t listened to and it wasn’t appropriate. Turned out something was actually wrong and when I was 15 I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Please, please always encourage your children to come to you!

You are SO right! I know you meant well dad and mom, but a kid needs to be able to tell their caregivers ANYTHING. Let her talk. And definitely err on the side of caution any time anyone mentions breathing trouble please.

Its terrifying when your child cant breathe and its always better to err on the side of safety when it comes to their health. Ee fould out our son was allergic to deer fly bites when he was 17 and had gone camping with some buddies. Matt was home 2 hours after he left asking to go to the E.R. because he couldnt breathe and that was what we discovered. T;e brought his breathing back to normal and an epi pen was suggested especially when away from home like this incident. So thanks for this vlog as a lot of young parents can have a good example on dealing with a similar situation. You folks are so very kind a sharing with is all .. Thanks a bunch! Blessings 💗💖💗💖💗

My parents didn’t believe me that I felt maybe I was allergic to bananas. Every time I ate one the upper middle part of my back hurt really bad. Enough to make me crawl in bed in the fetal position. I found out as an adult other people have the same issue and it’s a sign of an allergic reaction. So listen to your kids. I also have asthma and when your throat closes up it is scary. There were a couple times I thought I wasn’t going to get to my treatment in time and was prepared to die. No joke. So glad she is ok.

If you're having a histamine or mast cell reaction, your throat closes up and your body releases adrenaline. That has absolutely nothing to do with anxiety. Anxiety is probably due to the fact that she doesn't know whats happening because no one has figured it out and she doesn't know what to do. Definitely get an epipen if her throat actually really closes up when she feels like she felt in this video. Also, if she was having a panic attack, she would most likely hyperventilate and then the oxigen would make her feel worse, so, in my opinion, it was not a panic attack at all. Always look for mast cell and histamine issues and other medical issues before jumping to anxiety. Being frightened is totally normal, anxiety is overdiagnosed!

It maybe was an allergic reaction, you never know and I totally understand that you went to the emergency. Maybe you can let test her on fructose intolerance? My daughter has it and we struggled over a year until they gave us this result. Fructose is in almost everything you eat, but if you have a little bit of tolerance you can have the luck that you can eat everything except of fruits and some high fructose foods, which would fit in my opinion. You also can try if she feels better/ can handle it better if she eats some dextrose before a fruit. Dextrose helps with handling the fructose. It's not a wonder medicine, but it can help, so she still can eat fruits. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you... know your situation too well and know how much you struggle inside in those moment. Feel hugged and don't give up. You'll make it through!

I have 12 yr old identical boys that suffer from anxiety. One of them has food issues (dying from choking) so they have both been to child counselors to help them gain some tools to cope. It’s a process for sure. Maybe teach her how to ‘ground’ herself. Feel better sweet Evelyn.

Hey, I’ve never seen your Vlogs before, but KZbin suggested this video to me. I don’t know if this helps but I have several chronic health issues, two of which are anaphylactic reactions and anxiety. I’ve had them since I was very young. A quick way to test the difference between anxious trouble breathing and dangerous is through singing and talking. If her voice is cracking or sounds super gravely, she is most likely have some sort of vocal chord/lung/esophageal spasm and those are pretty serious. Anxiety trouble breathing is very different, and a lot of times anaphylaxis will trigger panic attacks because of the sensation, but that does NOT mean that the allergic reaction was caused by anxiety. I hope this helps. As a child, doctors told my parents not to believe me and that I was just a child with anxiety, but as I got older it was evident that there was a lot more going on. I know it’s easy to think anxiety is the answer and it just feels safer but it’s super important that these kiddos are taken seriously. Had I been taken seriously younger I may have gotten help sooner and my condition may not have progressed to the point that it did. Not trying to scare you or anything and like I said I don’t know much about your channel. Your family seemed to handle this whole situation very well and good on you taking her to the doctor to get checked out. Keep being an awesome mom! If you ever have questions for someone who has both anaphylactic reactions and anxiety my DMs are always open. Best of luck on your journey to finding answers. 😊

Not Trying To Be Rude AT ALL! I Promise! I feel horrible for anybody who faces anything like this. But Isn't Anxiety a Mental Health Issue?
@RebelliousStory
@RebelliousStory 6 жыл бұрын
Lauren Styles Yes, anxiety is a mental health issue, but that doesn’t mean that someone with anxiety can’t have physical health issues. In fact, most people with physical disabilities have mental health problems due to the stress on their bodies from their conditions so it’s a big stereotype to assume that because someone has a mental health diagnosis every symptom they experience is mental health, because to be honest, most of the time, there is something else physical going on. We know I have physical issues causing my anxiety because I’m one of the lucky few who can get definitive test results that show in my blood work, imaging, etc. the other physical problems going on, but some people are more difficult to diagnose and are told it’s all mental health issue just because the first few tests don’t show anything. Basically, yes, anxiety is a mental health symptom, but it’s also an extremely common symptom to have when your body is having physical health problems and can often be a sign of underlying physical problems. A really great example of this in action would be that people with overactive thyroids often complain of anxiety, because the excess hormones that thyroids create cause the sensation of racing heart rate, panic, exhaustion, etc., when their thyroid is treated they often experience remission of mental health conditions since they were not brain-based to begin with.
@sabimarcum5736
@sabimarcum5736 6 жыл бұрын
Also mental health issues are nothing to make light of. They can be just as bad as physical problems. Difference is there's a stigma around mental health and people think it's no big deal and they can just decide to be happy or decide to choose to be better which simply isn't true.

First off if you think she is having a allergic reaction call 911 cause you only have 2 minuets, also if you go by ambulance you will get seen faster. Hopefully she is ok. I’m new to your channel and your kids are adorable.
@SrslySly
@SrslySly 6 жыл бұрын
Danielle Marie You do not necessarily get seen faster if you are brought in by ambulance; this is a common misconception. The only guaranteed way to get seen faster at an ED is if you have a truly emergent condition that CANNOT wait. You'll be seen first in that case no matter if you came by ambulance or not. However, the benefit to being brought in by ambulance is if things start to get worse en route to the hospital, interventions can be made to help you before reaching the hospital.

Danielle Marie Well I confess, I don't know how it works everywhere, so maybe that's true where your mom is. I know what I said is true for my area, as I'm a paramedic and work closely with a lot of Eds in the region. I wasn't trying to be a know it all, or anything, just trying to spread some information. In a earlier blog you said that she's allergic to Birch. If she is also allergic to latex (that is in a lot of things) she may be having food allergies there are a lot of what is called cross contamination with latex allergy that most people don't know I'm pretty sure Birch is one of them. And pretty much all fruits. It will affect everybody in different ways.

Hi Somers family! I randomly came across this video in my recommendation feed and thought I would share my opinion. I’m no expert but it appears to me that Evelyn may be suffering from anxiety or panic attacks. When you have a panic attack (from personal experience) it feels as though you can’t breath, like your throat is closing up, and that your whole body is shutting down. These symptoms seem to be what Evelyn was experiencing. When I was younger, I was so afraid of choking that I would have panic attacks every time I would eat. My anxiety was so bad that I would chew my food until it was liquid. Also, how you were describing Evelyn’s worries about death, bugs, etc. sounds to me like she may have a generalized anxiety disorder. I was exactly the same as Evelyn when I was younger. I would constantly obsess over death, natural disasters, fires, burglars, and much more. Around her age I was diagnosed with OCD and then later with generalized anxiety and panic disorder. My advice to you would be to seek the opinion of a child/developmental psychologist to see if this may be the issue. Again, this is only my opinion and I am in no way saying this is what is wrong with Evelyn, and I really hope that it isn’t. Best wishes to your beautiful family!

My kids are all grown up now but I sure do remember those times when scary thoughts dominated their little minds....I'm glad all is well right now. You all will get through this. One thing I did with my daughter who was especially the deep-thinker, was to put everything that bothered her down on paper so it got out of her head and was visible (shared) by others. This helped a lot that she was not alone with her thoughts. Then we talked about how common it was for everyone to think these thoughts...we prayed about them and asked God to take them away and replace them with thoughts that made us happy. We took the power away from the "alone thoughts". Then we would destroy the paper...showing they were just "thoughts", that we acknowledged were scary, and then we took away their power....you will figure out what is right for Evelyn....I just wanted you to know, we all meet this stage eventually with our children...some kids seem to deal with it easier than others...but those Deep-Thinkers...WoW! lol God Bless

I’m new to your vlog, and I’m not sure if this applies to you but my daughter has similar reactions to foods with normal allergy tests , we have a genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and something called mast cell activation syndrome. With mast cell activation syndrome we get reactions to foods, smells, chemicals, anything really that can cause mast cells to over react and create things like shortness of breath, anaphylaxis, headaches, anxiety, pain. Many times the doctors will say that everything is fine because mast cell activation syndrome is a very little known disorder but your daughter has classic symptoms of the disorder, definitely worth checking out.

I get anxiety attacks that make me feel like my throat is closing and I can't get my lungs full. On top of that I feel like my arms get heavy and my finger tips get tingly like they're going numb. I get anxious when I'm sick so that always makes it worse. And on top of that the hospital makes you feel anxious. Poor little thing :( I truly do feel for her.

I don't do well on lots of random medicine bc of kidney issues, plus u have 2 figure the person's health, side effects, etc. Not everything's fixed by medicine. Having been on Zoloft 4 a month I totally understand, one thing it causes it different 4 everyone 4 me is demonic possessive spells, once I went to special rehab 4 treatment 4 four days. A lesson learned but good. Some friends of me think it's all in the head. But I try to ignore them.

Im so sorry to hear this, I can relate to her situation so much I always have had the fear of dying even if it was nothing serious. I have rough seasonal allergies and I've recently had to go to the emergency room because I felt like there was something in my throat/ closing, I've had to go a couple times actually.. The most recent time they said it was allergies so I can understand what she is going through.. Anxiety Sucks!!! I struggled with it terribley for 3 years but i outgrew it and still do get it sometimes! I hope everything is okay with her!

Once I had a reaction to a chocolate brownie protein bar and it felt like my throat was closing. Then I threw up twice. Then my parents finally said you must have had and allergic reaction. I wish they found out sooner when it felt that my throat was closing.

I have asthma and to me it seems to feel like your throat closing up.The anxiety never helps when your panicking about not being able to catch your breath(It feels like you have been running.)And not knowing what is going on.

Her back had some reddish areas the positive mark was quite red. How can the allergist say they all came back negative. My daughter had the tests done and our allergist went over what they were, I feel for u, as I know how scary it can be. In another video she said her mouth was itchy, ALWAYS err on the side of caution, never think it's just anxiety though because serious things can happen
