Its fine those that have vehicles that are designed or capable of doing so such as the 4x4's with snorkels or high sitting vehicles like HGV's (depending where the air intake is) and tractors.

Its like the policeman from Lowestoft, clipped a car on Barnaby Bends when returning to the police station at the end of his shift, and failed to stop. He got away with it because he suffered memory black outs meaning he couldn't remember the incident, that was court on several cameras with undeniable proof the accident took place. He didn't even get any disciplinary action against him. After a suspension on full pay he was allowed to return to duty I believe. if the police do something that needs investigating, who investigates the complaint? The police, and how many times do they say they did wrong? very few, just the same of the complaint system at GP practices.

Under section three of the Road Traffic Act 1988, it is illegal to splash someone as it amounts to driving “without reasonable consideration for other persons.” Those found guilty of deliberately driving through puddles and splashing pedestrians will likely be hit with a £100 fixed penalty notice and three penalty points if caught by police. However, should motorists be deemed to be driving in a manner that “amounts to a clear act of incompetence, selfishness, impatience, and aggressiveness” then the maximum punishment of a £5,000 fine could be levelled. If drivers fail to pay the £100 fixed penalty or refuse the penalty notice they could also face the maximum £5,000 fine if the case is taken to court.

@zo7782: Driving through water is an offence in this case as people got wet which is a assault and battery. It goes back to the old case law of Pursell v Horn [1838] and driving like that is considered to be Caseless driving. I don't necessarily agree with it but those are the facts.

When I was a boy in the 1980s & 1990's@@joecarrolljnr the local panda cars were bog standard Austin Metro's or a Ford Escort. Most were just painted white with POLICE in orange on the doors with a single blue light on the roof (or if you was lucky 2 blue flashing lights and a sign saying police), but of course back then, most places still had a local cop shop. Seems a very strange thing to block the ford though, given the fact that no access for emergency vehicles, and could result in death or serious injury, if emergency services take 20 minutes longer to get to an incident.

I reckon the only cameras there are the CCTV for the pub, who won't give two s about the road, and will focus on ensuring the pub is secure. Given that Hemsby Beach is being constantly eroded, the concrete would be better used there to protect the coastline.

Warrants no more than a warning, and is a complete and utter waste of resources HOWEVER I do think most of those who drive through this ford do so like complete moronic idiots with little care for their vehicles or others property. The section you refer to (section 3 of the RTA 1988) states Careless, and inconsiderate, driving. If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place, he is guilty of an offence. The example given is "Driving through puddles causing water to splash on pedestrians". You would have a hard time finding a judge who would prosecute for splashed coming from a FORD @andrewmaiden3738 normally as many were, but those who drove through like idiots to make a big splash justify a warning.

Is the police in the UK allowed to just "guess" their speed? I mean how are they chargeing anyone if they don't have evidence? "You were speeding sir, it's a 30 but you drove through there and everything went sploosh splash, that's a 30 to life!" 😂

The public had a duty here to obstruct the police vehicles with their presence. The police aren't allowed to run over multiples of pedestrians wishing to cross the road. They would have gotten the message soon enough that their stay wouldn't be a fruitful one.
