It infuriates me when this happens. And it happens in so many different areas to, from coloring books to diamond paintings. I unfortunately have accidentally shown stolen artwork on my channel too, both coloring books and diamond paintings. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Well, obviously, I didn’t know he wasn’t a reputable artist and neither did others as many people have unknowingly purchased coloring books from him. Hence the reason I made the video; to inform others that he isn’t a reputable artist.

I know this is a big problem with diamond paintings, paint by numbers, and cross stitch; I guess it was inevitable for it to be a problem with colouring books. It’s infuriating and frustrating that it happens.

When I first contacted this person it was to sincerely thank them for bringing this to our attention. I also left a few more comments that I thought were nice and helpful, but they just continued to heart and comment on every comment around me. I also had one of my comments deleted. I'm not sure why because I was just informing the person of my personal conversation with Thomas Summer after sharing their video with him. I finally asked if I could share their name and their video on my channel because I wanted to give them credit. No response. I've since deleted my comments and have given up. It's unfortunate.

Thanks so much for sharing this, it's SO important to support original artists creative work & content!❤️ You did nothing wrong, I've been duped a few other times too (buying stolen art coloring books, grrr!!!). I noticed very recently, on Amazon, a fraudulent publisher making fake Dover "Creative Haven" style books. I nearly bought one, until looking closer & realizing the font used in the "Creative Haven" cover banner was kinda different than I remembered... I reported that account to both Amazon & Dover, & again a few weeks later when they popped back up again. Haven't seen them since & GOOD RIDDANCE! Who knew the world of coloring books could be so cut throat!😉

Aww what a shame! I had the book in my cart, was ready to buy it soon after seeing it on your channel. But of course I won’t support someone who steals other people’s images. Thanks for the heads up! Sadly this isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened. It’s not your fault. It’s terrible how many people try to get away with taking others’ copyrighted illustrations.

I really wanted to give them the credit for doing all the work and finding this out, just like I wanted everyone to know Nicole is the one who kindly alerted me to the situation. But like I said, I’m uncomfortable mentioning someone on my channel without their consent. So unfortunately, I can’t give them credit even though I wanted to. And I told them I wanted to do that and link their video for people to watch. But they were unwilling to respond.🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for making this video Becks. I have so much respect for you. It is hard to admit when we have been had. To take advantage of someone's trust and kindness and to steal from others makes this Thomas person a giant scumbag. I am glad you called him out and I'm glad Nicole brought this to our attention. Aww wow this is super sad. This is not your fault becks! It happens so much, I know a lot of people steal artists work and take advantage of them. I really hope amazon or even other companies do a better job of looking into these things. I really hope that this person get there repercussions for being a thief! Amazon doesn’t care unfortunately. I bought a Tatiana the author of little town books, except when I got it it clearly wasn’t her book. Amazon refused to fix it for me and wouldn’t do a refund

A little due diligence goes a long way. I don't buy books I can't get clear artist's info on. This holds true with material put out by large publishing houses like Thomas Summer and Jade Summer also. Case in point, I recently was looking to buy one of Tatiana Bogema's Nice Little Town books. Browsing Amazon there were a lot of Nice Little Town books but some had names other than Ms. Bogema's listed as author. I noticed two things about those oddball books. First , no artist name, just the phrase "copyrighted material " on front cover. And the medallion used around the title was different on each suspect book. I can't say for sure these odd books were counterfeit but I had strong suspicions. The one I got has the artist's name clearly shown on front page and I checked for the copyright info page as soon as I unwrapped it. Always be suspect of a book without that copyright page. Send it back if that page is missing.

It’s not your fault. You bought a book you liked and wanted to share with us. Without seeing the books you show, I wouldn’t have any idea of all the cool books out there for sale. Don't feel bad, this isn't on you! Not to excuse any of this behavior, but during my learning how to create coloring book this type of thing is mentioned. If you've ever seen the low content book videos here on KZbin, you'd kinda get a gist of why you will see art replicated among coloring books or art of various quality that looks like different artists drew them. I found this in a black woman coloring book once -great art on a few pages and seriously bad art like a kid drew it, on another. Some authors will buy content that they didn't draw, compile and just change the cover. Amazon tries to ban and remove folks who do this, as no one wants to buy the same art, just an alternate cover. In the videos, they encourage folks to change the content they bought, since thousands of folk are buying the same thing, but this guy didn't. And he took it a step further and sold on Etsy. I've seen this in the tattoo coloring books I've bought from a dollar store and Walmart, but those authors had the good sense to either scale down or change the line up.

yeah i haved seen the video you are talking about, i don't own any books from thomas summer but the nam did just remind me of jade summer and the logo is very similar to sally berry but i didn't know they were stolen art allegedly anyway but in my opinion it's pretty obvious it's great you are letting your subscribers kow the truth 💜💜

Sweetie, you don't have to apologize for anything 😘 is not your fault nor can you control either that someone blatantly steals others' people artwork and sell it under other names to have a profit out of it, that's just flat out dishonest and nasty 😡 I admit I had it in my Amazon cart to purchase it because I knew you will most likely do it a color along for Christmas and I wanted to participate but after this of course I won't purchase it Thank you so much for letting us and the rest of the colorists know about this so no one else will support this dishonest company/person. I don’t know who the real artist(s) of the coloring book is. I couldn’t find anything about the coloring book or any of it’s images. Honestly, they could be from anywhere. Personally, I think the artwork is from more than one artist. After looking through the book again, I did notice different art styles throughout.

@@sarah28681 Some of the coloring books from other artists that were ripped off were on the Etsy page. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything about the Christmas Snowman coloring book. I don’t think the entire book is an exact copy, I think it just contains various stolen images. I’m still going to be checking around though to see if I find any of the images in someone else’s book.

I suspect that the name ”Thomas Summer” is a pseudonym for an unscrupulous person or company most likely out of east asia. Put it behind you, it’s not your fault.
