I was there and remember it well. Slipping and sliding up the hill to the Fieldhouse and just barely making it in. Awesome concert.

ELP was one of my favorite bands in the seventies. You can not appreciate ELP unless you understand the innovation of ELP; combining classical, progressive jazz and rock. They had presence on stage that was electric. They were Rock's first successful supergroup that lived up to the hype. I was at that the 1978 performance at RPI Fieldhouse in Troy NY and it was EPIC. A foot of snow and the placed was packed and the band was electric. I have seen many groups and never was as blown away as I was at the 1978 performance. Seeing Keith Emerson rising and revolving while playing three instruments (with two hands and a foot) made my jaw drop. Hearing Greg Lakes's smooth voice gave me goosebumps. Watching Carl Palmer's mastery of the drums was equally astounding. Never will there be a band like ELP again and I feel fortunate to experience and grow up with their music. I challenge anyone that is getting acquainted with classic rock to listen to ELP albums in full. You will be addicted. RIP Keith! RIP Greg!

I was at this show - Feb 6, 1978. Fantastic show. I have a decent audio recording of everything but the second encore. We got stranded in a snowbank on the way home and it sound up getting towed.

Wow, just happened to stumble on this when I was searching for ELP at RPI. in 1978 i lived in Greenville NY and remember me and a friend of mine drove up to RPI (about 45 minute drive) in the snow. We had to park about a 1/2 mile away so we were hitching bumpers of passing cars and "skiing" to the fieldhouse. It was a fantastic show. On the way home we finally came to rest about 1/4 mile away from the house due to the snow. The next morning the car was pretty much covered. only a small section of the roof was showing. But DANG what a great show !!!

Great footage. I was there Feb 6th ‘78. Fourteen inch blizzard in the 518. I was in HS at the time. We took a cab from Albany & ended up stranded after the show. CDTA sent buses to get kids back to Albany. I can’t believe that was over 45 years ago. Where did the time go? Those were the days 🤘✌️

I was at that show! My old girlfriend Monica had to get permission from her Dad to go with me because she was grounded for breaking curfew the week before. Then we broke curfew again because it snowed 12" during the show and we had to go dig out the car, and drive home the long way which took us till after 1 AM. (He was understanding on that one, LOL) Hard to believe it was 40 years ago!!!

Wow! this footage really confirms to me that I am old as dirt. I was 18 back in 1978 and seen ELP that year on a cold and snowy night in Columbus Ohio January 19th at the Fairgrounds Colosseum. The show was awesome. I also enjoyed the seen before the concert showing typical kids of that time getting ready to enjoy the show by smoking and sharing some herb for that's the way it was and nobody ever bothered you for doing so. I miss them days.

It's really sad there isn't more film footage of the great band who blazed the way for all other Prog Rock bands. Considering just how wonderfully talented the three of them were and what great shows they gave, it's an injustice to ELP.

A month ago, a very small channel was closed and it contained one of the best 8mm footage of ELP. I was never able to downloaded it.

Hi MrKayley10, I have a couple ELP questions you may be able to answer. I have a short silent 8mm movie of ELP at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City NJ on 8/20/74. There is audio for this show on youtube (higher quality of part of the show, in 2 posts by 'G Marx', as well as lower quality of the whole show from a bootleg). Would you be able to try syncing the audio to the video? Or do you know anyone else who would be interested in trying that? It would be challenging, because the movie is a series of short snippets. But there are a couple of keyboard sections toward the end, and a drum solo section, that may be fully syncable. thanx, - Barry
