ELP was so underrated in so many ways. This is definitely one of the best songs that shows the power of Greg’s voice. So sad he and Keith left this world way too soon. 😢 Imagine what they could have created if still here.

You are so right. I am so happy to have found ELP and this kind of songs, and in the same time sad that Greg already has passed away. He was also one of the first singers of King Crimson I found out.

One of my favorites from ELP. Greg doesn't get the acknowledgement or respect for his guitar playing but it was extremely important to their overall sound and diversity. His voice is one of the best I've ever heard. Haunting and Powerful Rest easy Greg and thanks for all of the great music.

I couldn't agree more! I was just 13 when I bought the LP, almost fresh off the press! I was a multi instrumentalist even then, self-taught (had recently mastered most of Classical Gas by Mason Williams. It was the first time I can remember hearing harmonics - totally blown away! I was so chuffed the first tike I mastered them - had to save my pocket money to buy a steel string guitar! 😊💖🎶

I read some of the lyrics of these ELP TUNES -especially like this one, and am blown away by the raw & pure depth of their expression--WOW-!!! What a TRUE poetic artist AND musician Greg was!!! I’ve been viewing these clips on here - since i’ve been on this Greg Lake kick as of late, wow, I realized of his talent when i was just a kid, but truly had no idea as to the extent of the depths of how real & deep his talents (all the ELP mates-actually), were! Just AMAZING, gone too soon Greg, thank U for your inspiration & all the beautiful & INTENSE Music!!!!!!!!!! 👍🙏💜💚😍😘🌀🌞❗️❗️❗️

Thank you for the lyrics, I always liked the gist of the song but now that I know the full content, I'm even more enamored by it all.I saw them live at Winterland in San Francisco and they did this suite. When it came time for this interlude, Greg Lake' s vocals and guitar work was incredible. You could hear a pin drop..Fantastic !!!!

EL&P has always been my favourite group. Innovators in the seventies, this musical group has accompanied my life since adolescence. The Sage is the song I prefer best. The lyrics sound archetypal, touching deeply my soul. Besides, it becomes one of the poems that can only be heard in English, to reach profoundly the Self. Thank you, EL&P, for giving us so much musical art.

This chord progression or ones similar to it are extremely popular in rock. It's very simple but kind of mysterious. Songs where you can find it for example: King Crimson - In the court of the Crimson King ELP - The Sage Genesis - Anyway Metallica - Call of Cthulhu Megadeth - A bunch of songs, most famously Hangar 18 and Public enemy no. 1 Dream Theater - Pull me under Even Lose yourself by Eminem has similar chords, damn it!
