This is a video for relief from intrusive thoughts using mindfulness and meditation! This can be watched by anyone with any form of intrusive thoughts, but I am aiming it specifically at emetophobia sufferers.
Feel free to replay this as much or as little as you need. I would recommend practicing this in a safe space to start with and then, when you're comfortable with it, maybe try having this awareness mindset whilst trying different triggers. Start small and work your way upward, but take it easy. If it's too much, stop or go back. Don't push yourself. Only move on once you have mastered one trigger.
Hope this helps!

@@lucyalexandra. Holla, been there! 😂 Honestly I'm so glad it was a help! Hmm, how about this: I'm thinking about making a video on this, but (from my last cbt) if you repeat the words 'I might be sick' as much as you can, it absolutely takes the edge off. As this is probably what your brain is telling you, the aim is to repeat the words until you get bored of them - and they lose their power. Doesn't take long for it to take effect either! Only do it for as much as you can handle, stop if you start to get triggered and then begin again when you feel safe to do so. The more you say it, the quicker it will work!

I am 13 and have struggled with emetaphobia since i was about 7 years old. I have panic attacks most days and feel sick several times a day leading in shakness, crying, abdominal pain and upset stoumach. I am getting cbt therapy very soon as i am missing out a lot of my lessons. Its also the winter seasons and bugs are spreading so its hard to get me into school. I no longer can eat in restaurants go to the doctor or even spend a week in school without breaking down multiple times. Today its especially bad and have been feeling sick for about 9hrs and have had multiple panic attacks during and after school. I still feel sick now and after alot of tears its almost midnight and I've got school 2morrow. This vid is my only hope 😅

No I know exactly what you mean, It's almost impossible to believe yourself. I'm so sorry to hear this but I would really recommend speaking very calmly to your parents and telling them that you really need help. If they don't believe you, maybe show them some videos about emetophobia? So many people have emetophobia, it's one of the most common phobias but no one knows this because it's not talked about. I would also recommend possibly getting therapy (especially CBT therapy) if you have access to it, it's incredibly helpful! Or at the very least, go to your GP and see if they can recommend/do anything to help. I hope you get on ok and I’ll be here to chat if you need someone to talk to! 💕

Ive had it for 5 years and i start shaking and trembling everytime i have any thought of that ANY feeling in my stomach scares the hell out of me when i was about ten years old it started and it was so bad i cried sometimes because my mind wouldn’t un picture the scene of it happening. Yes to this day i do think about it and scares me. especially when i go out to carnivals or fairs because i feel someone is gonna do it bcs of nausea after rides. Once i was going to the pool and a cars door open and i saw someone do it right in front me im so traumatized i wanna cry and another time not too long before that i saw i kid doing it. And one time at the nurses office i saw someone say they were there because they thr*w up picturing it just makes my teeth chatter. One time it happened to my dad from some sharp pain in his kidney but i heard the sounds and wanted to run out of my house and never come back. I hate when anyone mentions it even as a joke but i was having a panic attack and it just felt so good writing thiss.

i’m struggled with anxiety for about just over a year it started when i was 13 and now i’m nearly 15. i’ve also been emetophobic since i was little and that contributes to most of my anxiety especially in winter months. tonight i woke up for the first time in a while to a panic attack and i forgot what to do but so happy i stumbled across this video. it’s really calmed me down. when i’m anxious i don’t want to eat anything and that’s led to bad physical health last year. i’m really hoping i can overcome this soon.

thank u sm for this !! it helped alot !!! everytime i feel like im getting better at handling my phobia i would get a very scary anxiety attack (always after i eat too) and it's the worse always bc i would gag and gag nonstop and doing that would worsen my anxiety. even worse is that after it, it would make me go back to not eating at all or even when i do eat, i would just get anxiety attacks after. it just frustrates me because it takes me months to be able to eat without being scared and one anxiety attack is all it takes for me to go back to square one. it's just so repetitive im so tired of it i don't want to experience this anymore

No worries! Gosh I'm so sorry to hear this, that sounds so horrible!! Very relatable about going back to square one again and again, I've absolutely been there and it's incredibly frustrating! I would definitely recommend speaking to your doctor if you haven’t already, they might be able to give you something to help. I may actually recommend looking into medication at this point, as (in my personal experience) it’s what stopped me from constantly going back to square one, but please use your own discretion with that one. You can get better, keep going! 💕

For my nausea from panic attacks (for me they last from days to months...still hoping) I use Slimfast meal replacements or high protein depending on my nutritional status. I ended up in an ER for IV fluids so many times that my Dr. now also gives me Compazine to stop the vomiting. Many fewer ER visits!!!

He throws up when he’s anxious and he’s just one of those people who throws up over everything but 3am seems like a weird time for it to be random. It also means everyone’s a sleep so i can’t text anyone to find out and i don’t wanna leave my room. We only have one bathroom too , i wish i hadn’t woken up

Hello, is it normal that I am nauseous everyday cause of my emetophobia? Doctors don't know the cause of my nausea and I have it for 3 years now. I'm starting to get really depressed to be honest.
@EmetophobiaHelp
@EmetophobiaHelp 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Oofft that's not nice, but I can definitely relate! I am not a doctor but I can't say it's necessarily normal because I thought it was untill I realised it wasn't 😅 And yes I completely get that, it is VERY depressing when you have to deal with it every day! It's good that you have a starting point though, makes it a little easier to pin point. Something important to rule out: Did you start taking any medication or contraception around the start of the three years? Now let's see if we can narrow it down: Does the nausea last all 24hrs of the day or are you able to calm it and if so, what makes it better/go? Does the nausea get worse if you do anything in particular and if so, what? 😊

Hehe thank you! I'd say it's very much up to you. For me personally, I know that making myself sick isn't going to help because my intrusive thoughts are the main problem, and they're not going to disappear just because I've been sick. However, it may give you clarity on what to expect, and it may not be as bad as you're expecting - it'll just be gross for a moment and then that's it, all done, no more. I'd say only do it if you feel strong enough to manage it though, as you don't want it to make you worse, that's the main thing. I'm so sorry that you've been going through such a nightmare, it's the worst isn't it?? I would recommend getting some therapy/CBT if you can, it will massively help! Or at least go to your GP and see if they can give you anything. Stay strong Nadia, things can absolutely get better!! 💕

I know I’m late but I can almost 100% guarantee you (as frustrating as it is) the nausea is caused by emetophobia induced anxiety. A few things I recommend is one making a safe space, one that’s open with maybe plushies or other things that comfort you if you’re feeling anxious or having an emetophobia attack. For nausea I recommend zofran! It’s helped me personally greatly with ridding nausea. And if possible talking to a loved one or even a therapist/counselor is SO helpful!!! And a bonus fun fact: people with emetophobia are the ones who throw up the least! I pray you get through this!! It doesn’t last forever ❤️
