This is great, most bass pickup replacement videos show bass player not really showcasing the difference. Thank you for doing all this showcases.

Great video, great up grade, but really wanted to see what those active pickups would have sounded like!

Good point, I have an aversion to active pickups and electronics. Simply because I might run out of battery :)

Good work man and very talented playing. Thanks for sharing and the tips in your comments. I'm subscribed and I love EMG pickups and prefer passive as well.

Thank you very much! A year and many recordings later, they could offer a little bit more on the high frequency end. I guess the noisefree comes with a price.

@@BassCave7 LTD seems to have good electrical components, noise free. It's probably the best starter six string. I love basses. Maybe not the string space you might desire. But for where I'm at the LTD six string is really all I need for a six string. I had the opportunity in 2022 to get into owning instruments. I got some killer deals. I'm really happy with everything I got. I didn't send anything back. Anyway I'm from Oregon so cheers from Oregon country! And you can think of Oregon as a home. A home after your native birth place. It's got good potential and it's relatively safe.

thanks for doing the comparison and install! I'm curious to hear the difference on the b string
@BassCave711 ай бұрын
You are welcome, the B string was basically not amplified with the original pickups, the magnet did not reach enough.

Great work! One tip: you can test pickups by playing a song on your phone and putting the phone speakers next to the pickups, they should act like mics.

Nice one! I will try that next time!

Funny, EMG or Aguilar were also my last two contestants. The Aguilar did not specify which string spacing (at the bridge) they would be suitable for, which would have been a gamble. An expensive gamble, because they are even more than the EMGs. I have Aguilars on my Jazz Bass, the are great, but are not as noiseless as the EMGs.

Nicely done! 🙂 I watched the other video, then had to hunt this one down. You should link this one on the old one and vice versa, probably get more views

WOW!!!!! That's an AMAZING TRANSFORMATION!!! That's passive only?

EMGs are mostly active, only the HZ line is passive. To this day, they blow me away!

TO Why is the EMG connected in the kit in coils in series and out-of-phase since according to the diagram there are 2 negatives?
@BassCave710 ай бұрын
Well, I'll be honest, the great thing about the EMGs, you just follow the instructions and it works and I don't need to worry about questions like this. There are 4 pins sticking out of the pickup, that become 2 pins on the control. I imagine the two coils are in series. I had Jazz Bass Aguilars, with 2 coils, where 2 cables were soldered together, and the other two went to the tuner as well, probably the same. But like I said, I don't know, and I really appreciate the ease of installment they provide.

what pickup height did you set the Hz's to?
@BassCave724 күн бұрын
Pretty close under the strings, I like to feel the resistance after plucking the string. between 2 - 4 mm

Hi! The instrument you own looks very much as a De Oliveira bass, a small Brazilian basses company from Natal, capital of the Northeast state of Rio Grande do Norte. The 12th fret logo looks very much like the logo they use on their instruments. They have a KZbin official channel (Portuguese only, I'm afraid). If you feel like it, check them out. Cheers!

Ouh you are right, I already found out a while back. I was really disappointed because the bass did not look like a knock off like they usually have on AliExpress. They had a brand name "Flyoung" so I thought it was original. Sadly still a copy, I will buy them no more. Admittedly, the two basses I have, 6 string, 6 string fretless are really tops, play well, sound great. The electronics were completely disfunctional, butbeasy to replace.

Chinese are selling fakes De Oliveira basses. The original ones come with Bartolini. Thoose basses worth every penny!

Hi @surjadutta, I bought them here www.thomann.de/intl/emg_45hz_basspickup.htm and also here www.musamaailma.fi/fi/emg-45hz-bassomikrofoni , stock is always a bit low, you might have to ask and wait. Cheers!

I hear a hiss on the background with the EMGs
@BassCave7 Жыл бұрын
I went back to the original material, no matter how I crank it up, I don't get a hiss. Maybe it was the fingers sliding over the strings?
@Sir_P Жыл бұрын
It’s the fingers mate, new strings
@BassCave7 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Exactly, but new strings would make the shish noise even louder! What I need is more practice kilometers!
