@Ki Key yeah you expect a triple changer to have 1 dodgy mode but both vehicle modes look bad. The cockpit on the tank "because G1" is just dumb as hell. But hey unless comedy hands.

@Ki Key I see where you are saying and I some what agree, but remember Leader isn't always a specific size class It is a price limitation. An example being our new Motormaster, he's Commander class but is Earthrise Prime-sized and more intricate with less equipment. Blitzwing is somewhat average in size not to complicated but has FIVE bits of equipment.

@@HiperPivociarz 1. They're clear plastic so potentially prone to breaking 2. They don't seem to pay homage or replicate anything commonly associated with the character so they're out of place 3. They are big enough to most likely having taken away some part counts out of the feature which could've been used to some joint to make his alt modes look better 4. Their integration with the toy is laughable at best, as they're big squares attached to the tank, big arms attached to the back of the jet and don't seem to attach super securely to the robot mode At the very least Astrotrain's extra nonsense were a set of legitimately cool looking weapons that could combine and that store away neatly into a box that integrates well in at least one of his modes

For all their budget for leader class, Hasbro should've added a way to rotate the tracks to streamline the top silhouette of the jet. And as many have noted they should've dropped to energon weapons for better engineering.

THIS! A simple swivel in the hinges that fold the whole tank kibble back and forth would've allowed for a MUCH better look. I think that was intended at some point in the design process but got scrapped for reasons.. just look how the fake wings would've ended up becoming his back wings and how the instructions tell you to have the turret face forward in jet mode, when it should be facing to the back instead. So close to a decent Blitzwing

Yeah, Blitzwing has always had a weird chunky jet mode but it also typically looks a little more intentionally designed. This just looks like they couldn't figure out what to do with half the tank mode and left it there.

Those transclearent red "hands" really make me think of that TFCC Energon combiner, Nexus Prime or whatever name it ended up with. As for Blitzwing, I cut Hasbro a lot of slack - triple changers are hard. If they'd have included a piece to fold out from the purple front of the tank to cover the cockpit a bit more, I'd be very happy with this. As is, I still like it quite a bit.

5:26 It's been _forever_ since we saw that gag. Why did nobody told me that this Blitzwing has built-in gap fillers for his inner shins & forearms? That's normally a feature added to third party figures and I'm surprised that Emgo never mentioned it! This alone makes me want to replace my Generations 2013 Blitzwing with his guy. While I get why Emgo wouldn't bring up the Generations Blitzwing for comparison since it's nearing a decade old but I'm confused as to why there wasn't one for Laser Optimus (the only other new Leader Class figure released as of this video). I was debating on getting this guy but Emgo's review sold me on him.

Great review EmGo! I feel like it's still a minor improvement over the Titans Return, that robot mode is very nice, and that's the mode most of us is gonna display him in so good on them. I think design-wise Blitzwing is a really hard one to tackle, with no parts shared between alt modes unlike Springer & Astrotrain and that he also changes colors. The progression from the Thrilling 30, to Titans Return, and now to this has been fun to watch

I just noticed this Blitzwing is very accurate to the G1 toy/cartoon version, with some minor differences, like the two hand like guns/ boosters and the windows being red and the cockpit jutting out a bit although the jet mode has treads (supposed to represent the missile pods on the original G1/Diaclone toy) but its a triple changer, some compromises have to be made without having it over $100 Rather interesting toy overall :3 The additional handlike accessories act as missle pods in tank mode, additional boosters in jet mode, and gauntlets in robot mode, which is a bit overkill in my opinion XD

The thing with the plain cockpit sticking out from the tank's front in the cartoon model is due to a screw up, most likely due to whoever made the model (Floro Dery?) was given a photo of a mistransformed tank mode as a reference, as the correct orientation in the toy is to have the plane's thrusters facing forward.

well, though not a 100% valid excuse for this figure's bulkiness in terms of alt modes, a reason why it's like that is due to this figure basically being a update and recreation to the original G1 figure, which, from what I've figured out, the original makers of the figure over in Japan had intended the figure's visible alt bits in the other alt mode to be a kind of 'they're not supposed to be there, just imagin them as invisible for this mode', due to the limitations and earliness in transformers at the time. So, for the toy, the tank bits you'd see on the jet mode were not supposed be 'seen', at least in the more figurative sense, and vice versa. But this information was never caught by the American adaptation of the toy, 'nor in the cartoon, so visible chunks of the other alt mode became a part of Blitzwing's design. I'm not saying it's _good_, modern engineering could/should be capible of eliminating that feature of his design, but at the same time, I'm not saying it's the end of the world. And I'mma be honest, it feels like a lot of people bashing on this figure just don't know how to have fun with a design or use their imagination. I get the issues people have, but in the end, it's non-sensicle and stupid to get worked up over a toy that is based off an older toy that had the intention of using your imagination to make it feel better. I mean, as toys, that's the whole point; use your imagination to have fun with them, bring them to life in your hands and erect scenerio's and fight scenes or interactions. I'm not going to bash Hasbro over the head for making a bulky figure when it's intended to be a toy in this sense. (Also, America's use of the toy had the jet cockpit up front, but Japan's original use of it had the thrusters in front, so, yeah, that's also an issue, :P)

I still like Blitzwing because Blitzwing was my most favorite Decepticon character 😊! This Energon gloves 🧤 look like ridiculous to you, but i still like it 😊. I’m still doing coin flips, trying to decide whether to get this or not. On one hand, I already have Generations Blitzwing that I’m happy with. On the other, this new one looks so good, so shiny. Then again, he has a very ugly cockpit just sticking out in his tank mode. And then there’s the risk that at a later time, a retool/repaint of this will be released as a new character that I will be way more excited with. Hmmmmmmm.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the alt modes, but they are pretty close to the original alt modes just more pronounced. Usually with triple changers 1 of the 2 alt modes is sacrificed in order to make the robot mode and 1 of the alt modes better. They did a great job on the bot mode and the tank mode is pretty good. The only thing I wish they had done would be to get rid of the "hands" and instead made him bigger. But not bad overall.

Not gonna lie, the stock photos honestly did zero favours for the jet mode. It's still the weakest of his three modes (imo) but it looks so much less dinky when it's being shown off in real time rather than having unflattering angles that really make the tank kibble much more glaring. That honestly really helps me decide getting the figure because I find the tank and robot mode much more superior to the Titans Return version (imo) and seeing that the jet mode is likely better in person solidifies my purchase. I honestly think the titans return one has better alt modes but I didn't want a blitzwing that came with the titan master gimmick. I'm still not a fan of the jet mode here but it's way better than what the stock photos implied. I'm still not the biggest fan looking at this guy through a phone screen but I'm sure he's much more fun in hand. I've been looking for a solid blitzwing for a while and I guess this guy will do fine until something better comes along.

@@Yeshuah6 I don't particularly hate TR Blitzwing, I have it and I enjoyed it - I just think Legacy Blitzwing would be a good replacement. Has no Megatron pretool baggage and a really good robot mode that looks more like Blitzwing. I do have to agree the jet mode's not the strongest mode but...having owned both figures I'd say they both have their pros and cons. At the very least TRB's jet mode seems more streamlined but I was not a fan of the tank mode and it came at the cost of having a fugly robot mode.

Blitzwing looks sooo good in bot mode. So chunky, thick, and filled out. If anyone wants to critic his back kibble, you just tell 'em that this bot turns into a jet and carries a tank on his back. He's one powerful decepticon. If I have any critic, it's that his scale and all the other triple changer scales are wrong. They should all be bigger than their teammates.

Back to Blitzwing, I don't really see the point to include those blocky hand cannon things? Likely will be pieces to just keep to the side or just store away and never use. Funny thing: since G1, Blitzwing's tank mode is depicted with the front being the canopy part (since that is also the front of the jet), but in reality, the original toy has the angled upper glacis of the Type 74 tank molded in. Yes, even if it doesn't make sense at all, the engines are supposed to be facing the front, since the upper glacis is there (it even has molded headlights), so technically, the canopy is actually sitting at the back of the vehicle. Not complaining on post-G1 designs, Titans Return got that a bit right, but for G1, that is something that bothers me a bit. It's funny how one mistake led to a snowball in the future. But as Emgo says: "It's your toy! Do whatever you want!"

I had some weird bad luck with my energon hands where the pegs that are supposed to be used to connect to Blitzwing's arms were already snapped off in package. They weren't loose and rattling around in the box they were just snapped off already before they were packaged in there.

It’s been a full three months after this video, and I finally found a Blitzwing at Walmart! That dang sword storage in alt-mode… The back of the box shows the sword stored under the small purple wing on the jet mode’s left underside. And the sword is behind the gun on tank’s left side. Hooray for obligatory product shots!

This goes with SS86 Blurr and Kup and maybe even Perceptor as figures I like the TR version of better even if the new one is better. With Perceptor though it's mostly the plastic the SS86 version is made of. I don't like the look or feel of it. It's made out of different plastic than every other Transformers brand figure I own. It matches my Fansproject Insecticons though. Legacy Blitzwing should've been taller. So should Siege Astrotrain but at least he has the shoes to put on. I was maybe expecting a little more like an evolution of the TR design for this. TR Blitzwing worked really well but would've benefited so much from not having the Titanmaster gimmicks and having been a leader instead of a voyager. I mean, Legacy Blitzwing kind of wears the entire tank mode on its back now. If you take it off, you'll probably have an amazing jet mode and a slightly less accurate robot mode as it won't have the wings sticking out the sides and the turret on the back. I might just do that once I get one. I might like the TR one better but it's not like I'm just going to not get this one. It still looks cool and I have room for both...and the Takara Legends version...and the T30 version. I'm at that stage where I don't care how many of each character I have anymore so long as I like the toy. It's such a hassle selling off older figures when newer versions come out.

Robot mode is definitely a winner. The backpack isnt bad either. I think Hasbro could have added turrets or panels that open up to launch missiles, but I'm sure the budget was limited.

I wonder if this was designed a few years back and then a few parts retooled to give the ports. But man this figure is a mess in both Alt modes! Probably the best blitzwing robot mode I've seen though...

Those "energon hands"aren't the grreatest, especially in robot mode. However, separate the hands and the forearms and you can make some shoulder pads and cannons, or in my case, I put the "hands" on the backpack when Blitzwing is holding his guns. Funny thing is, with the shoulder pads on Blitzwing's arm movement is very similar to the G1 version, and it fits the color scheme a bit better too.

BWs jet mode was always tanky. still seems to be a huge step up from the TR crapper we got.

I'm very disappointed with how they handled the alt modes. i have mechanic studio(mft) blitzwing with a robot mode almost as good as this one, but a tank and jet mode that i have to mistransform to get them this bad, at legends scale. if a 3rd party can do the tank and jet modes right at legends scale without compromising robot mode, you'd think hasbro could get them right for a leader class figure.

those fists should have went into either making the figure taller or making his jet mode more impressive. I get it's always hard with Blitzwing to do both the jet AND the tank without making certain sacrifices (Because lets be honest, a jet is meant to be slimmer and more areodynamic while a tank is meant to be bigger and more box-like), but then again considering what his jet mode is (the colossal Mig-25 Foxbat), I feel like they could pull it off if they tried a little harder.

@@matthiasplatz5919 the tank mode is supposed to be a japanese type-74, which had a similar little cockpit on the back of the veicle. switching the front aroud was wither a miscomunication or a artistic liberty, but with how unstable the guy has been depicted all around, it's retroactivelly perfectly in line now
