It seems weird that those two wing-flaps attached to the tread sections are only for robot mode and aren't use as the underside wings in the jet mode. In animation doesn't he kind of have the bi-wing setup with a top and bottom layer?

Blitzwing looks sooo good in bot mode. So chunky, thick, and filled out. If anyone wants to critic his back kibble, you just tell 'em that this bot turns into a jet and carries a tank on his back. He's one powerful decepticon. If I have any critic, it's that his scale and all the other triple changer scales are wrong. They should all be bigger than their teammates.

Nothing about the giant red “hands” makes any bit of sense - don’t look like fists, don’t transform at all, and don’t contribute to the tank or jet mode. Couldn’t they have at least had the hands rotate around into the forearms to make missile pods that attached with a real peg? I would’ve been happier with this at a new ultra price point instead of failing to pad out the leader class price with fairly useless accessories.

@@XENOS_Indie_Game_Dev Without the hulk hands he barely makes it to voyager. With those it is a voyager. So I am just as baffled. It's not a leader class. Also parts count and all does not justify it. I can tell you deluxe Tracks has more parts than voyager Blaster. Yet Tracks is a deluxe and Blaster is voyager. If anything it is just a rough estimate now. And figures get tossed around being a class definition. With Galvatron being rather large but not the same as what we got in CW and TR as leader class. Like the leader Seekers. Which are all bigger and do have a relatively high part count as well.

Oof the compromise in the alt mode are just deal breakers for me. The nose cone in the tank mode doesn’t look good, and the jet looks like it has several washing machine strapped under it. The robot looks fine, but this just doesn’t feel like worth the leader price point.

You can take off the huge wings on the back in robot mode, then transform it into jet mode and there will be no huge clunky, bulky stuff on the jet. This fixes the jet modes and gives it a more sleek look.

Astrotrain is improved in shuttle mode a lot by the 3rd party filler & tail piece - but the train mode is still really weirdly flat looking. Perhaps the main problem with these things is that they really are not worth £50+

Man that tankmode is *almost* awesome. It straight up looks like it stopped transforming partway just before it was done :') Cant believe the jet mode seems to be what most people get hung up on in the comments here when the tank has freaking half a nosecone sticking out and no armor in front of it xD At least the jet can somewhat convincingly act as a spaceship. I cant immagine a convincing excuse for half a cockpit hanging out in the unarmored front of a tank though haha. Edit: ok so looked up g1 blitzwing: didnt remember the cockpit being there in tank mode and yeah its there but not THIS pronounced. It doesnt stick out like here. But fair enough, I do better understand the compromise made now.

You aren't wrong, and neither is Frameworks. This Robot mode is more loyal to its animation model, and the tank looks arguably better. But the jet has much more kibble, and the transformation actually cheats fake wings out to the robot mode. Legacy or TR can outmatch each other depending on what you use to measure them

I think another way to transform him is to flip out the lower wings in jet mode, so it gives a sense of having double wings. It makes the lower huge chunks act as lower wings instead of tank kibble

I will agree though that Hasbro are slightly pushing it by making their leaders voyager scale and still charging £5 to £10 more than that class’s price range. Though they make up for it by making the transformations more complex, giving them more accessories and using quite an abundance of plastic.

The giant energon hands do actually reconfigure so the hands are inside the forearms and look more like missile launchers and mount in the side of the turret in the tank configuration…doesn’t look awful. In jet mode, they stay extended in the hand configuration, the jets/feet open up, and the forearms plug into ports revealed under his feet/jets. In that configuration they look like extended thrusters…odd, but not terrible. Has anyone found a convenient place to store the sword in vehicle modes…especially tank mode? That’s my only complaint…no sword storage in the vehicle modes. I’ve tucked it in behind the treads in tank mode, or pegged it into the back of the energon fists, bridging the space between them behind the turret.

This Blitzwing looks really nice in robot and tank mode but that jet mode does not do it for me. The fact that his articulation is limited is also kind of a bummer. No backwards leg movement is bad for a leader class figure. The paint on this figure looks great though. Love the shade of purple they chose. He's a bit on the smaller side and it shows how small Astrotrain really is but at least they do scale well together. Wonder how he scales next to TR Blitzwing

For me this is a huge disappointment. The accessory fists are out of nowhere and do not add anything to the figure. For a leader price point it needs more articulation and at least on the jet mode, less kibble. This makes me sad considering the quality we have been getting lately in design. Much like the Earth mode leader Ultra Magnus this is going to be a pass for me. We know they can do better at the leader price point with voyager size figures.

@@dannyinformal I dislike earth mode Magnus quite a bit*. It is in my opinion a great flop. I loved the siege Magnus, as well as its remold for Prime. Both were very well thought out leader figures which were made of adequate voyagers. A couple of 3rd party addons for the legs and they were fantastic. Earth mode Prime (meant to be an update of G1) was one of the best Prime's they have ever made. While a voyager, it was a joy to transform and did an excellent job being what it was, and the trailer made the excellent voyager worth the leader price. Instead of an earth Magnus of equal quality, we get a remold that, in my opinion, (and I cannot stress the word opinion enough!) looks like the illustrated image of compromise. It looks like a transformer built by a committee whose only goal is to figure out the exact dollar amount they could spend to evoke the image of a G1 Magnus while trying as hard as they can to get their money back for a mold they don't feel they have got their investment back from. The truck mode is half an earth cab and half kibble. Fists are fine when you hide them under a trailer on Cybertron, but on earth they are a dead giveaway back there. I already have that voyager, I have 2 of them and they do a fine job being cybertronian. I would love to have a earth mode Prime colored as Magnus... but if you are making me pay for a leader, that trailer has to at least fit a deluxe car in it, if only the mini deluxes: Cliffjumper and Bumblebee, and I need it to swivel. This Blitzwing feels like they promoted that committee. *I may have too strong of feelings on that figure for polite company. I am sorry.

What they could've done better with Magus(and I admit it's a big one) is to make everything transform into one robot, rather than going the G1-esque "the trailer updates the robot" route. Other than that, he looks absolutely fantastic in robot mode and suffers slightly in alt mode.

Robot mode looks fantastic. Tank mode looks good but don't care for the nose cone section poking out of the front. Jet mode suffers the most. Front of the jet looks small and compressed while the back looks way too bulky on the underside. I think the Titans Return Blitzwing is better than this mold in all 3 modes.

I agree that the paint apps are much better on the Legacy release. I will take tampograh paint apps over stickers any day of the week. I am sure the joints will be tighter and the ankle rocker a welcome addition on the new release as well. I just think the aesthetic of the TR Blitzwing looked better and more like the G1 toy... especially the jet mode. To each their own. Simply my opinion.

I got mine, and those giant cannons arrived broken. The pegs on the inside were too short to hold the cannons or fit into his hands. Not a huge deal to me since I wasn't planning to use those anyway.

This is a pretty solid triple changer considering sacrifices needed to be made to each vehicle to make them work. The robot mode is clean, and accurate to the show enough to have been included in the war for cybertron series and I'm actually surprised it was not. Here's hoping Octane makes and appearance as he was the one of the 3 I owned as a kid.

Those red hands can actually come off. Also, the whole things actually have a proper integration into the jet mode. You have to transform the back slightly which is why there are tabs on the back of the big forearms.

You can tell they only really cared about the robot mode. The tank mode has a cockpit sticking out of it and the jet mode has so much junk hanging under it that it might as well be a box with a nose cone sticking out. You can't even pass that think off as a jet from the top view. I am let down as the Mechfantoys 3rd party figure does better than this at legends scale. If you lowe the jet mode, you either need to get your eyes checked or stop lowering your standard so much since this is a leader class.

Blitzwing is a weird one. This is a very generous review of this figure. Bot mode looks great. But starting with tank mode…the fake plane cockpit is not used in jet mode? OMG a perfect opportunity to have a perfectly clean tank mode…but a designer added the most unnecessary detail ever for a Transformer. The jet mode looks unfinished. I guess its a starfighter hybrid of some kind; a box with wings. Just like ApeFace. These short comings dont really kill the figure but instead establish that siege Springer is still the best triple changer that has come out in recent years.

This is an awesome figure. Blitzwing is one of my favorite Transformers ever, and I think there's undeniably multiple improvements of this guy if compared to TR's Blitzwing Legacy's tank > TR's tank, triple changers tend to sacrifice one mode, TR sacrificed the tank, while Legacy shared the sacrifices between tank and jet, resulting in a better balance TR's jet > Legacy's jet, the kibble differences are evident, and even the upper side of the jet looks cleaner on TR. With those sweet jet intakes and cockpit, TR's jet truly represented a MiG-25 Foxbat Legacy's Robot > TR's Robot, the difference in articulation and paint apps is undeniable, and those shoulders are a 10/10 while TR's shoulders are just odd. That being said, I prefer TR Blitzwing out of the two; I think his transformation might have been simpler, but it was also fun with the flipping arm/wing segment and the single chestplate piece, it was very clean in two modes, and it didn't have to resort to fake pieces to achieve any mode. I know I'm a minority here but I love the Titan Master gimmick on Blitzwing, the side panels that covered the headmaster junk in robot mode were actually part of his animation model, and the jet piloting feature was greatly made, taking advantage of space to its fullest, quite possibly the most successfully implemented piloting feature across its line. Accesories wise, they both had the iconic sword and then useless plastics (chunky fists and bathtub gun)

Especially if you get the Takara LG version. Show accuracy is frankly secondary to me, mostly because the first Blitzwing I think of is Animated's, but on the G1 design, I kinda like the lighter purple that just happens to be the show/movie accurate color. Like you said, each do things better than the other. But other than needing him to be potentially shorter than my RTS Lugnut until they make a proper Leader Grimlock-sized fig of him later on, while this Blitzwing is pretty dang good, I'm personally happy with my Takara Legends one as well

You're right, I forgot LG Blitzwing was the best one out of the two, not having to worry about peeling its foil stickers. I think the lighter purple is better too, and the way LG implemented the tan in its design is cleaner (such as the fully tan colored turret) wish he wasn't so tricky to get in the west

Ever since John Warden left, Hasbro started with replacing screws for flat headed hard to reach pins, they started with "sacrificing" alt modes in favor of robot mode accuracy and they have increased prices all over, screwing the overseas buyer worst of all.... Warden kept a balance between budget and desing, he managed to get the accuracy "sacrifices" distributed and thus of lesser visual impact, not all of them concentrated on the alternate modes like eye sores, he keept the screws... the guy knew about third party upgrades, damm he gave them a market, he made the bussiness more an ecosystem, you really could choose when he was in. He left and everything started to rot.

It isn't that bad looking. I have mixed feelings on the alt modes but other than that it looks amazing. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, though, Blitzwing just serves as a "salt in the wound" reminder that Hasbro is going all out on making sure the G1 figures are as accurate as possible while doing the absolute bare minimum with the non-G1 figures in this line. Like, its insanely mind blowing that they'll add in the nose-cone in front of the tank mode because it was like that in the cartoon, but can't even extend that same energy/design philosophy to Prime Arcee and Bulkhead. Jesus Christ.

Sandstorm, but they got a serious problem having him in scale. Due to the dune-buggy kind of vehicle being an in real rather small vehicle. And the chopper is massive. A lot of mass shifting going on. The best they can do is make a really really good chopper and sacrifice on the car mode. Make it something military maybe to make an excuse for beefing it up. Since they got to put the mass somewhere when it comes to the chopper bits. Broadside is a serious problem figure. With an aircraft carrier for an alt mode as well as a plane, again mass shifting around. Could give him a space shuttle alt mode instead of the funky plane thing he was. And size him up to leader class. Because an aircraft carrier is just so big. Actually should make him commander class. But that is a huge risk. Who would buy Broadside? He aint exactly Skyfire or Skylynx. He is a side character at best. More like a cameo character. As for Springer Siege Springer is excellent. Nothing to complain about him.

IMO instead of flipping the head inside to leave the nose cone exposed, it just could have used a couple extra panels that could have wrapped around the head to make the tank mode look great. Would have preferred that instead of a couple of knuckle busters.

in robot mode, you can attatch the gautlets to the back where you place them in tank mode and pull back the fingers of the gauntlet. That way, they look somewhat like the missile launchers of laser optimus prime.

It would really crush my hopes for Menasor if these end up becoming the lower arms. The lack of articulation plus the horrible red plastic with purple paint would ruin the combined mode of Menasor. Also completely agree about the tank kibble under the wings.

For deluxe figures it will be Wildrider, Deadend, Prime Knockout, BW Tarantulas and finally for voyagers Armada Starscream. These are all the ones I’m aiming to get in waves 2 and 3 of Legacy, wave 4 might not be that interesting to me.

Comparing this to Thrilling 30's version, I think Legacy's robot mode is far better but for both vehicle modes, I still prefer the Trilling 30's version. I don't know about Titan Returns version though because I don't have that version.
