GuacSucker to you, it might. But 40K + people hitting the "like" button suggests that it does not "fucking suck". So don't tell people "get over it" as if your opinion is a fact that people need to conform to. And don't be so vitrolic towards a professional guitarist especially when you have nothing better under your belt. As a guitarist I think some of the runs in this seemed a bit nonsensical, but others were quite musical. And there's also his amazingly developed technique. I liked it. You might hate it and that's fine but don't act like your opinion is a fact.

+Marcus Lambert I see your point about people being harsh in criticism, I think. But I really do not agree with the whole "you can't even remotely play the stuff he plays, so don't criticize!" thing. I saw BLS live a few months back and he played a similar solo, only difference was it was about twice as long as this one. Style was very similar. Now I don't think there's a single doubt that this guy is ludicrously insane at playing guitar. I, for one, can barely play smoke on the water on guitar myself. But I still think I should be able to criticize his solo for being too long and point out that it affected the performance in a negative way for me. It's more like the stuff he does isn't all that much my cup of tea. I'm guessing that might have been what you were getting at in the first place anyway. Oh well..

They're all bitches........ Zakk rips on this tune.
@megamania5019 жыл бұрын
+Marcus Lambert That "don't criticize unless you can do better" argument has to be the most used, but least thought-out argument on the internet. What sports team do you hate? Don't ever say they suck unless you can personally get on the team and perform better then! Hate Justin Bieber's music? Don't say he sucks unless you can get on stage and sing better! Hate country music? Don't say it sucks unless you can write a country album that sells more copies then. So basically with your logic you can't hate anything unless you can do better. Now is that really logical? Nope. Look at your argument further. With your argument if you can do something better than someone then its ok to criticize that person. With your logic its ok if Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali told all the amateur boxers of the world "all you guys suck!". Or if Donald Trump says the public sucks because they aren't as rich as him. Or if Yngwie Malmsteen said that Zakk Wylde sucks because he can't play as fast. Bottom line is, a person can say than someone sucks whether or not that person can do as well or not. Who was last in standings last year? St. Louis Rams? A person can't say they suck simply because that person isn't on a professional team that had a better record than them? That said, Zakk Wylde can easily play better than me, and yeah, I suck at guitar compared to him, but I have to agree with a lot of the comments on here...his playing on this vid is uninteresting and just non-stop wankery.

Fighters fight harder. Painters paint darker. Track stars push harder to run faster. Singers sing more powerfully. Zakk Wylde shreds as hard and as fast as his abilities will allow him to express himself. He's amazing in his niche. Can't argue that. Instead of hating on this instance of his playing, maybe try to see a deeper meaning behind what's being portrayed, through a blistering flurry of notes that might be likened to someone crying, cutting, using. Hey Wyldeminded It is true and I agree. Well said there. When I first was hearing it, I was hearing it, but not listening to it. And it didn't make any sense. Just like when hunting, you cant focus on one small spot. You have to sit back and take in the whole field of view in your mind. Similarly, once I stepped back and stopped focusing, and allowed it all to come together in my field of hearing, for what it really is... It's obvious he has incredible amounts of experience on this instrument. It has become an extension of himself. And quite honestly, I can see how people dont understand it. But I believe its because he knows what he is doing SO WELL, that it actually goes above most peoples heads because they are listening too closely and not taking it in as he intenser and hears it in his own mind. Once I unlocked it, it became a wonderful expression to behold.

I personally think you're giving him too much credit. I played guitar since 1972, grew up in a music store and have played in bands all my life, it's all I know except he doesn't have near the success that he did with Ozzy. He's almost gotten lazy actually , I think. Trills out a few notes then pinches a harmonic as he slams the 'wah' pedal trills out a couple more notes then pinches out an other harmonic. Almost like he has a template for his solos anymore. I would like to see him get out of his comfort zone an explore some other styles and come up with something fresh, otherwise your career is pretty much over and you're going to spend the rest of your life playing nostalgia tours.

Absolutely love guitar sounds in this video as well as the entire composition! Andy's guitar sounds very modern (like most of all metal bands prefer these days) -- well compressed, tight sound with very pleasant low midrange. In constrast Zakk's crown sound, which is based on, we all know, on canonical and proven for a decades Marshalls boosted by EMGs via MXRs gives to the entire composition feeling of freedom, courage, inspiration, air, wind, spirit. Bravo!

My problem with Zakk stems from the fact he was one of my main influences on guitar as a kid and he showed a wide range of talent for awhile, he would play some great melodic solos with a dash of fast pentatonic ripping here and there, nothing too overdone. The last 10-15yrs he plays the same crap over and over, he seriously just wanks pentatonic garbage over and over, no feeling or sense of melody..just fast runs and it's sad because he has proven he is capable of much more...he's been in this rut for almost 20yrs...doubt he will ever make good music ever again. Don't even get me started on the artificial harmonics every 2-3 notes.
@greekfreak198010 жыл бұрын
^ This,I would like to see him make another album in the style of ''Book of Shadows'' but nowadays he even uses pickups and shitloads of effects,when he plays with acoustic guitars.
@6672rock10 жыл бұрын
***** Exactly what I thought for a while. You never really hear a pure acoustic or pure clean or distorted electric tone from him. He processes everything with chorus, wah, phasing, flanging, that Dunlop Rotovibe, and God knows what else. It just creates a wall of noise. Maybe if he applied his shredding to other scales more frequently like he does with the pentatonic scale, he might break out of this sonic rut he's in. That and pare his pedal board down to just a wah and overdrive. Heck, if Angus Young can get by for 40+ years by plugging straight into the clean channel of his Marshall stack and getting his tone by turning up and playing hard, then Zakk can surely get by with only a scant few effect pedals. I've always believed that the fewer effects you have between your guitar and amp, the better off your tone will be.
@muriloninja10 жыл бұрын
***** hey everyone looks here, we have another 12yr old that knows no better. Never an intelligent arguement, simply "well you can't do better". Almost anyone could do better simply playing something melodic and in tune with the rythum instead of running played out penatonic scales over and over trying to jam as many notes in as possible with the chorus and wah engaged for that disgusting "tone"
@KFieLdGaming10 жыл бұрын
Don't get why so many people bag on his use of Chorus/Modulation. Maybe he likes Chorus. I am a HUGE fan of chorus with this kind of depth/rate. I don't like chorus with a ton of rate to it but when it's silky smooth sounding and gives you that doubling effect, it sounds great for this style. That's just me. Maybe Zakk loves it. I don't use it for every thing I do, but if he wants to, that's his call.
