His tone is quite proper, I like it's simplicity. Some people play through stacks and stacks of effect with I find unnecessary. I also thought he's using passive pickups and had to look it up, those are active ones. Most of the time, I find the active ones to sound worse than the passive ones - less dynamics and clarity with active ones due to some sort of compression or what...

***** He is bad ass. No question. Not adequate for Priest unless he plays better live and in studio though. I'm a vocalist, drummer of 30 years and he's off in plenty of places. Trust me. Listen to this solo with a click track and you'll better see what I mean. He's a great player for sure, but NOT the best choice for Priest IMO. If you think Faulkner is a ten musically, listen to someone like Reb Beach, or Doug Aldrich (DIO's "Killing the Dragon"), or even the new guitarist for Dokken.
@kscarano9 жыл бұрын
I must disagree with you, as I've seen 4 shows on the current Priest tour, and he tears it up live. Redeemer of Souls is also a masterpiece. Doug Aldrich is another favorite of mine, I"ve seen him with Dio and Whitesnake countless times. He's killer, one of the best! So is Reb Beach. But Richie IS absolutely the best choice for Judas Priest, he fit in with them right from the start and is credited (by them) for keeping the band alive. His energetic, mesmerizing performances have turned doubters into believers. No one is better for them than him. And bottom line is, THEY wanted him!
