Royal Perth Hospital’s Patient Care Supervisor, Hassan Ali Hassan, has been honored as the third quarter winner of the prestigious EMHS Values in Action Award.
In her inaugural ceremony as the new EMHS Chief Executive, Dr. Lesley Bennett orchestrated a surprise visit with key executives to Hassan’s work area last Friday, where he was pleasantly surprised with the accolade in front of his colleagues and manager.
Dr. Bennett commended Hassan for exemplifying the EMHS values, emphasizing kindness, respect, collaboration, integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Highlighting the value of "integrity," Dr. Bennett shared sentiments from Patient Care Assistant Zeleke Hailu, who nominated Hassan. Zeleke praised Hassan's consistent, fair, and inclusive decision-making, his willingness to lead by example, his patience with new staff, and his ability to foster cohesion within the team despite rostering and practice changes.
In his humble acceptance speech, Hassan expressed gratitude for the nomination, particularly from a staff member under his supervision. He emphasized his commitment to teamwork, fairness, and leading by example, aiming to ensure the happiness of his team every day.
With nearly five years of service at RPH, Hassan underlined the importance of respect in his daily interactions, from his early arrivals to ensure everything is in place for his 7am shift to the end of his workday.
Respect, he emphasized, is the cornerstone of a positive workplace environment.
