Emil Gilels - Chopin Concerto No. 1 in E minor Op. 11

My mother bought a Columbia records album of this piece with Emil Gilels when I was 9 years old. I literally played it every single day from grade school through college. It was the only way I could study. His magnificent interpretation of this piece is so far beyond any I have ever heard. His music is hardwired into my soul. We moved into a fifth wheel a few years back and that same album is now in storage I miss it. What a joy to find this on KZbin. It was a different orchestra but the same Gilels.

Иногда в жизни происходят поразительные вещи! Только что, переслушивала этот концерт в исполнении Галины ЧерниСтефанска. В комментариях читаю ,что лучше могли быть Рубинштейн и Розина Левин. Первое ,что пришло в голову ,что лучший это Гилельс для меня .... и вдруг буквально через мгновенье появилась эта ссылка. Волшебство.

He sits supreme in his interpretation of this piece. He adds color, finesse and a commanding touch that is unequaled. What a tragedy we lost this man so early. I've listened to this recording over a thousand times over the years and it makes me believe in beauty and the possibilities of human grace and achievement. So unimaginably beautiful.

Emil Gilels (Hilels) from Odessa, a child prodigy early in his life is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century, despite his looks as a professional boxer. He lived a satisfied life with his only wife from the beginning to the end. He played piano concerts with his very accomplished daughter and also his sister. Won in his life time the most important awards in the world of classical piano.

from Jose' "Timo" Sepulveda.........how marvelous to listen again to the great Russian "People's Artist" Emil Gilels......a Titan to be sure. The Soviet Union did not repress all of it's magnificent artists when it was still extant.......Gilels is one of the greatest (and yes I DO know that "greatest" implies the superlative degree!)........he is a towering figure in the array of great Soviet/Russian who have graced this planet.

i always cherish to be able to listen to one of the great pianist of the 20th century. Truly a great master that is missing in the present 21th cetuury pianist only some of the few names to mention like Evgeny Kissin who is my numero uno favorite. GILES es otro gran píanista de la promoción, como Ritcher, Cliburn, Kempf, Rubistein y otros cada uno de ellos con sus estilos personales de interpretaciones qué por las cadencias, brillos. Pausas, rapidez, lentitud, romántico,... De las obras de los compositores se diferencian por segundos de cada parte de la obra clásica interpretados por ellos la riqueza sobresale agradando a todo oyente o público....
