The worst thing about these films, is how oblivious the activists are to the damage they do. These films are so detrimental to the communities they're purportedly lifting up to “widen the conversation,” while at the expense of those communities. And it is just getting exhausting.
@TwistVisualsКүн бұрын
Because of these bad films getting so much attention, the discussion just gets even more diluted and actually good films (that tackle the same issues with much more respect) without A-list actors or the marketing budget of this film get lost in the way side.

It's been pointed out before but I think the problem is that these writers and producers have no real world life experience. They start off as interns on films as teenagers and stay in their Hollywood bubble for their entire lives.
@kostantza1Күн бұрын
I think they just don't care. Just because they purport they care doesn't mean they actually do. In fact it'd suit them much more if the communities they supposedly support became even more hated and marginalized, because then they could keep crapping out performative disingenuous products about them and posture to the uneducated bigoted masses. The industry protects those it want to protect regardless of gender, orientation, ethnicity or religion, it's those it doesn't care about who get the shaft. I don't think the benefit of doubt about their good intentions holds to scrutiny anymore.

It's so cringey and awful that for it to get any nominations show how hopeless Netflix, Hollywood, and the Oscars are.

Please stop calling it LATIX, we don't call it that and that needs to end too. We need the feminine and masculine in Spanish to identify who we are speaking to.

And you barely scratched the surface, Echo. The film is an insult, not only to mexicans, but to the entire spanish speaking countries. The dialogues seem google translated from french to english to spanish. Where they don't sound incoherent they sound cringe worthy, only to be outcringed by the delivery of non spanish speaking actors such as Selena Gomez who sound exactly as Emilia Clarke speaking Valerian in GoT. The director has a justification for every criticism calling the movie his love poem to México. Right... The casting director, a french woman, actually said they tried hundreds of mexican actresses, but no one could fill the parts. Imagine telling mexicans none of their actors can play a mexican woman. Audiard later said the american actors were chosen to make the movie more appealing to foreign markets, but it's obvious this narcissitic self congrulatory virtue signaling award bait project from a french industry nepo baby was a failure in every level. The problem is this movie could have been simply overlooked as the hundreds of other better and not much worse movies coming out every year, but the Hollywood foreign press, the Cannes festival playing french favoritism as usual, and the Academy, all in their ignorance of spanish, mexican culture, cinema in general and good taste, decided to give awards to this genre malformation miscarriage of a film. And now, a man is going to win best actress awards at the Oscars. Congratulations, Hollywood, you have achieved peak woke and played yourselves!!!

So they turned a Monster into an even bigger Monster! .. and they expect people to empathize with it? That might very well be the best and most honest on-screen interpretation of a T ever put on film!
@Pedro-m7f3fКүн бұрын
That is just being an a$$h0le. The character is a monster because of how she behaves before and even after the transition, not because she is trans. They are people just like us who can be either good or bad, but that is not defined by their expression. Saying that someone is a monster just because of that exposes you corrupt moral compass. Calling this the most honest on-screen interpretation of a Transgender person put to film is like saying that Star Wars is the best on screen interpretation of astrophysics.

I'm still tempted to watch a bit of the Oscars just to see how they pay tribute to David Lynch, but if they largely ignore him like they largely ignored Ennio Morricone after he died, it'll be better to skip it 100%.

Yeah this WHOLE thing makes me worried for the human condition at the current moment. Skipped MULTIPLE KZbin ads of this film not knowing OR caring what is was about (but assumed it was something annoying just from the few flashes of scenes from the film I saw right before I skipped the fucking ad) until just the other day saw a content creator review it to get more of it's deranged details. And every other degenerate/annoyingly woke topic of this film aside, the fact that they thought the sex change operation song's lyrics flowed AT ALL really does have me worried of the collective mental health of this species. Because we all ARE slowly losing our minds in one way or another and at this point, it's kind of pick your poison lol. Me? I guess I'm a mild online schizo since the past decade of nonsensical wokism/leftism in western culture has kind driven me there lol.

They wanted to create a story about a relatable mexican everyman and so it's either drug dealer or illegal immigrant in the USA. At least watching him do crime lord stuff is better than watching him go down the local hardware store to hope he gets hired to clean someones pool.
