This is a great positive interview every homie young and old should watch. Growing up in gang life I was fortunate enough to change my life around. I became a recording artist, singer of oldies. I recorded a cd and my original song "My Lady" ( Its on youtube) played on the Art Laboe Oldies Radio Show. I opened up for and became personal friends with, Brenton Wood, Joe Bataan, LiL Willie G, Rudy and Steve Salas from Tierra (RIP) El Chicano, Malo, Thee Midniters, Tierra, Sly Slick and Wicked and many more. These days I go live singing oldies on Facebook and TikTok. The Cory Silva Oldies Show. Popeye, i've seen you many times referring a fight. I would be like homeboy has that homie stroll. Props to you homie for all your success. Much Respect! P.S. It would sure be an honor if one day I met you and Emilio. God Bless

This is 💯 positivity for the youngsters. Every youngster in the neighborhood should watch this interview. As a youngster I lived in gang life. Until I decided to change my life around. Here is another Chicano with a positive story. As a youngster I enjoyed singing. While locked up in Campo the homies would always ask me to sing some oldies for them. I never took singing seriously until later in life. Making a long story short, one day I auditioned for a band and was hired as the band's lead vocalist. As the years passed by I was performing at all the local clubs in SGV and L.A. I recorded a CD singing oldies. One of my original songs "My Lady" ( You can hear it on KZbin) played on the Art Laboe oldies radio show. I opened up for and became personal friends with Legends Brenton Wood, Joe Bataan, LiL Willie G, Rudy and Steve Salas from Tierra, Thee Midniters, El Chicano, Malo, Sky Slick and Wicked and many more. These days I go live on Facebook and TikTok singing oldies. The Cory Silva Oldies Show is worldwide with over 70 different countries watching. With all due respect Popeye I hope you didn't mind me sharing my story. Much love and respect homie. P.S. Popeye, I've seen you referring many fights. I would look at you and know you came from the neighborhood because of that stroll you have. I was like, props to that homie. God bless

Did I hear correctly that you are from Bassett? As in BG13, Nite Owls? If so, I grew up there. I used to box and train at Little Basset with amateur boxer Dino Ramirez, and professionals Blaine Dickson, and the Baltazar brothers, Frankie and Tony. My trainer was Roy, but his real name was Orlando De La Fuente. He was a boxer back in the day. Came from a boxing family. His big stint was in an Elvis Presley movie Kid Galahad.
