Britain has very similar ethnic diversity to the US, but much greater diversity in regional accents, history and traditions than the US. because it was settled by the majority of its population anywhere from a few thousand to 1,500 years before the majority of the US population settled the States, when it was highly unusual for anybody to travel further than the village they were born in.
